[inquiry] Was NS down?

Not more then a minute ago I tried to load NS and it gave me a page that said the connection timed out.

I then went to "Is it down?" the website, and it said the server was down for a small bit of time. I'm guessing it was just a small glitch or something not to worry about but I'd just like to make sure.

I've been having errors for the past several days lately, as well.

It's 520 errors specifically, which is code for, "Something is wrong, but we don't know what."

I'm sure that it's just a reoccurring problem. The good thing is that the timeout is temporary. I'm sure the moderators/admins and maybe even Max himself are working to fix this.

Let's review what we know:

1. We are getting both generic and ssl handshake errors (525 errors).

2. They seem to happen all the time.

Do the mods know anything we don't? Or is it just the server hamsters again?

Yeah, had a few of these. Not recently (as in today), but had a few a couple of days ago.

It's not us! Cloudflare is downstream somewhere.

It's not us! Cloudflare is downstream somewhere.

That could explain why it's just slow sometimes, fine other times, and spitting back errors whenever else.

Seems to be a recurring thing recently.

Every now and again I get a "host server is down" or some similar thing.

Yeah, I have access to ethernet and I occasionally get a message saying "connection timed out"

It seems to have been traced to the server gerbils at Cloudflare.

We do have periodic timeouts, like once every 20,000 requests, which I've been trying to track down for about five years. I don't know what causes them, but since moving to Cloudflare they're more visible, because Cloudflare gets impatient and throws up an error page, whereas before your browser would just sit there trying to load the page.
