The region suffered from catastrophic data corruption and I had to restore it from a backup. The reason it happened in TBR is because its region file is very large, due to a long permalog of embassy changes, and it often gets updated rapidly as nations move in and out. This exposes some race conditions in our code.

Wait a minute, don't auto-merge this comment please. It's still related to technical.

Almost all of our military action from the past minor update has been wiped as well, AKA our modifications to regions like Bratslaviania and Asprahasken. Did restoring the backup to our main region wipe out our military action in unrelated regions?

No. You're saying there should be something in the Regional Happenings of those regions that isn't there now?

Yes, that's what I'm saying.

I talked to the players behind both sets of puppets that captured delegate seats in those regions during today's minor update, and they both attest to the fact they had modified a total of 44 regions earlier today. Now 29 of them are missing those modifications.

[5:44:57 PM] Aurum Rider: A lot of them got undone, idk why

[5:59:59 PM] Nuke: i tagged mine
[6:00:08 PM] Nuke: and it's been rolled back

I'd like to think this isn't something malicious on the part of someone who doesn't like our admittedly-controversial way of playing the game, but... yeah...

No that's not the case. I don't know what's happened here. The backup restoration definitely only affected one region. When is the last time you saw those regions prior to their rolled-back state?

A little after 1 PM, Central Standard Time, is the last time we saw the regions before they were rolled back.

The fact this happened between server updates is something that's really weird to me. It seems to go against the way the site works.

Huh. Never knew that. Thanks for your great knowledge Violet! Maybe this could be fixed by making a embassy limit?

 Pretty weird in my Tech Mind that it did that randomly. I might be able to figure it out with a little help, or I can just leave this a independent [violet] investigates...

Editing this as my description of what I think occurred did not make much sense.

ROLLBACK:
This means any embassy requests were rolled back as well. Therefore any action taken after requesting an embassy with TBR could not have happened. It very much depends on the order of actions taken in the invaded regions.
Some were : Tag the WFE, suppress, change flag, request embassy.
IF the order was : Request embassy, Tag the WFE blah blah blah...........Every action after Embassy request was removed with the rollback.

whew...hope that is logical.

We modify regions in the order of what shows up on the Regional Controls.

Going by your theory of what occured, the only changes that should have been rolled back would have been any modifications to the region's welcome telegram, and possibly the suppression of posts. Changing the WFE, the region tags, the flag, and withdrawing all types of embassies are all steps that come before requesting an embassy with the main region. These modifications were rolled back even though they came before requesting embassies, so I wouldn't suspect that as the cause.
