Suggestion: Spoiler tags in factbooks and dispatches

Postby HMS Unicorn » Tue Nov 11, 2014 7:27 am

Would it be possible to add a spoiler tag for dispatches? Given that spoiler tags are already available on the forum, I'd expect it would be relatively straightforward to also enable them for dispatches.

I frequently find myself wanting to include a very long list in a dispatch (nations, regions, etc.), which I would prefer to have in a spoiler so as not to disrupt the flow of the rest of the text. Similarly with large images. As dispatches are also used for national RolePlay, I imagine spoilers would also be useful for including OOC information.

Thanks in advance.

For the record, I was also thinking of this yesterday, and I agree that this would be helpful.

I, too, would probably find this very convenient and useful.

Done! The spoiler tag should work in dispatches,as well as telegrams, RMB posts, WFE and the like. Although consider it in testing for the first few days, which means support could be yanked if we discover a problem with it, leaving your message/dispatch looking bad.

Please report any problems!

It floats left on telegrams, just like the [list] tag and bullet points, off of the edge of the telegram.

Also in the WFE and telegrams, you can't align them next to each other because the [float] tags don't work in WFEs and telegrams, and placing them without a space in between them automatically jumps the next spoiler to a new line. Good for RMBs and Telegrams, though not WFE friendly.

Does spoilering part of a WFE affect the character limit?

And to be positive, I like the "button-like" appearance of it that you don't get forum side. I feel like that should be how the "move to region" and "add to dossier" buttons should look like on the region page. :p

Plus, I noticed that the Spoilers in RMB posts look different. Is this normal?

No, but I'd look at changing that.

I don't see any difference between spoilers on RMBs and spoilers elsewhere. What do you see?

Without attempting to actually measure, it looks like the difference between 10 point and 11 point type. Insignificant difference.

Oh right, yes, they are not exactly the same as in the forum.

Belated thanks for implementing this! I hadn't thought of spoilers in WFEs, this opens up a few exciting formatting possibilities.

Maybe if you don't leave a space between each spoiler when coding, they could all be placed on the same line, with a space between each? That would work much better in WFEs. Currently they jump to a new line no matter what you do.

Terribly sorry not to have replied to this sooner. Tis the season to be incredibly busy and all that.

I was wondering what the procedure was that various players were using to customize their spoilers. I've noticed on many occasions that players will post spoilers that instead of reading "spoilers" will read things like "More Information" or other text.
