Petition: Female Named GCR

A common theme of NS!

That said, I would think the obvious example would be Ishtar/Astarte, given she descended to the Underworld and returned again.

I'm not sure that is "less Western" than Osiris or Lazarus.
Hey, it is Parhe :D I am always open to telegrams.
I know it is a Work-In-Progress, but I would love it if y'all looked at my new factbook and gave me some feedback!

Where is an Aphrodite, and Artemis, and Athena, or an Isis?

I would like to start a petition for a new GCR named after a female figure of power. Even Jennifer would work :P

Find us some female mythological figures that continue the sinker theme about death/resurrection. :P

I second Ishtar. The name is super cool sounding, and it's not European!

I think I'm secretly motivated by the fact that there was Yugioh character with the last name Ishtar.

Agreed, hence 'that said'. I was suggesting Ishtar because of her influence on many other similar religious/mythological figures, Western and Eastern. I would love to see other suggestions, but they're not something I would know enough about to suggest: my study of African anthropology doesn't really go beyond the Nuer and the Azande, and I wouldn't have a clue about Southeast Asia, for example.

Less Eurocentrism? You understand not the White Man's Burden. But seriously, on the subject of female death goddesses, why not Kali?

Going on the record as pro-Ishtar, well known name, fits with the descent into the underworld and re-emergence... it works in so many ways.

Would this be a sinker? Last time we discussed this we were told that Osiris and Balder came about because Laz was too big and was giving the server issues, and that a new GCR wouldn't happen unless populations became big enough in either the sinkers or the Pacifics. Is this the case?

That being said, sinkers seem to come from gods that died then rose, except for Lazarus, which is a Biblical reference. If we are making a new sinker, and if it is to be 'female' in name, perhaps one of these names make the most sense: Ishtar, Persephone, and Izanami. I sorta like Izanami since it's unique and kind of weird-sounding, but that's just me.

Yup. But like I said is there a need for another GCR or are we doing it simply to have one with a female name? I mean, last time we did this notable GCR individuals were quick to fill the voids (myself included, and heck I'd probably do it again because new stuff is fun stuff). Sorry to be a wet blanket all of a sudden - it's a cool idea, but I'm having trouble seeing how this is needed right now, or how this would be different than what happened when Balder and Osiris were created.

I'd like to go on the record as saying that creating a new GCR is a terrible idea. That said,

Osiris is the name of an Ancient Egyptian deity. How is Egypt Western?
