Oversized image issues

I got DEAT'd for this. It's really, really messing up the flow of the page, and is just damn annoying to look at.

It was uploaded through Imageshack at 640x388. I have yet to find a way around the imagecap (nor would I wish to).

Maybe it's just too sexy for your monitor to take?

Nope.
1920x1080 screen. Also when I drag it into a new tab, I get it saying it's 1609x976.

Try doing a hard refresh, and if need be, clean out your cookies (if you can afford to do so). It might have saved an older version, since I that Nua's edited his post, and that cached version might have stuck around instead of loading a new one.

Do you have a image zoom utility active? Meaning, you can zoom in on images.

Clearing the cache made it shrink down to the size everyone else seems to be seeing it as. Makes absolutely no sense as to why it was so large, though.

It's no worse, in fact in many ways it's better, than a great number of pics I've seen on the forums. At least its topical. And it is not, as others have noted, over the cap.

You probably had an older version saved, which was temporarily saved on your computer by your browser. Whenever visiting that particular page, you browser opted to use the older version instead of loading a newer, changed one. Clearing the cache forced your browser to get new information.

It's not his cookies. The image displayed takes up much of my screen (Firefox) and, when I click on the image, collect the link and then try to post it again in this box, it tells me Your images may only be up to 900 pixels high...Your images may only be up to 900 pixels wide.

I'm chiming in here because I recently ran into the same problem in a P2TM thread. The image was roughly the same size, took up nearly the entire width of the post and tweaked the page formatting/appearance. The poster returned and replaced it with a smaller sized image.

Edited to add: I don't have any magnification options running.

I'm running Firefox as well, so I'm not sure that it's the browser ... this is probably something that would be better helped in Technical. Going to move it over there and adjust the subject line.

It's not the browser. I'm having the same issue, and I'm running chrome. It comes up 1609x976, as mentioned earlier in this thread. Could it be that imageshack is serving it incorrectly? Doing a web upload on imgur (pasting the image url directly into imgur) fetches the image at its proper 640x388 size.

Not sure if it's important, but the image is displaying at ~2.51 times its actual size. So it's not even a nice round number.

I think we can class this one as "really freakin' bizarre". I know once or twice I've accidentally zoomed my browser in, but that made EVERYTHING look larger, not just images. So not really sure WTF is going on here. o_O

Refreshing the cache does not appear to do anything. Plus, I restarted my browser overnight (and have it set to clear browser caches each time I close chrome) and this morning it still appears its larger size. In fact, even going in and forcing chrome to AGAIN clear all cached images and files, the image still shows to be 1609x976.

Not that it's really a problem, given those having this issue are relatively few, but now it's just incredibly curious, isn't it?
