Can't understand WFE character limit

Postby Cerian Quilor » Tue Dec 17, 2013 9:54 am

Because I've seen WFE's with more characters than seem to be allowed in the Kantrias WFE, and I'd really like to give people in my region more information about the region in the WFE, but it won't let me, but like I said, I've seen some pretty high-character WFEs...

So what exactly is the character limit, and what counts as a character for the purposes of that limit?
Never underestimate the power of cynicism, pessimism and negativity to prevent terrible things from happening. Only idealists try to build the future on a mountain of bodies.

The Thing to Remember About NationStates is that it is an almost entirely social game - fundamentally, you have no power beyond your own ability to convince people to go along with your ideas. In that sense, even the most dictatorial region is fundamentally democratic.

BBCode, IIRC, counts towards any limit. Use less BBCode, you get more characters to use in the WFE.

As for the actual limit, I have no idea.

This isn't the case--or if it is, that's a bug, and I'd like to see an example.

The limit is currently 750 characters.

It doesn't? Since when? I thought it did.

When was it raised? Because I remember it used to be like 200 for my region.

It changed in May 2009.

It was raised from 550 characters to 750 in May 2010. It hasn't been lower than 550 characters for as long as we have code history. But prior to May 2009, it would have been 550 characters including NScode.

As NS is on shiny new servers (complete with an email domaine with a dark history), is their no space for multi-page region factbooks akin to the factbooks given to nations
