Hi,

I just heard that the API Recruitment feature is now MIA. Is there a working source code incarnation of this specific part I could get without the whole tool?

How can we get that fixed?

If you are familiar with javascript you can take a look at the sourcecode and compile your own extension minus or including a few details as is up to you. It *is* extremely poorly documented however so goodluck with that (oh and the usage of Jquery is...ott in my opinion).

The person responsible for the actual extension is now Eluvatar who is a volunteer appointed to manage the project by [violet] and other administrators. Thus we have to wait for them to get back to the code. I have my own reservations about this project management system but as Eluvatar is the one familiar with Javascript we have little choice unless the features are integrated into Nationstates proper.

If you have the money of course, you could possibly pay a Javascript developer to work through it and create an extension. Completely up to you.

So, I have had some issues with NS Recruitment API, and this is what has happened:

First it freezed when sending a TG. I tried refreshing, restarting system and web browser but still it didn't help. So, I tried to retire the recruitment campaigns and make new ones. But then, the TG sending bar doesn't appear.

Also, my region's update time is getting earlier and earlier for every update. We're now talking about updates occuring around 04:00 PM (UTC+0)

Please I need help with this, we have suffered from this in a long time now.

Sorry but the Recruitment feature no longer works. Instead I highly recommend that you wander over to the store and purchase some stamps ;3.

This is PFQ Founder. Well, I still recieve recruitment TGs in one of my puppets. And may you please give me evidence that the feature no longer works?

The evidence... try using the recruitment feature of NS++ yourself and check whether your puppet receives a recruitment telegram from it.

There are three ways to send recruitment telegrams.

1. Through the purchase of stamps *Recommended*.
2. By sending telegrams manually to prospective nations.
3. Via an API Script

Some other nations have set up their own API scripts that are not tied into NS++ so if you see Tag:Api nowadays, you can be reasonably confident that the recruiting is done by a none NS++ script. These to my knowledge are closed source (unlike NS++).

If you see Tag:New1000, or something similar. That telegram has been sent via stamps. If you see Tag:Template, then it is usually manual.

Is there an openly usable one of these somewhere for public use (besides Auralia's)?

What I want to ask is could the runners of NS++ give me the code they used for the tool?

There is a known issue with NS++ blocking forum posts. Either change themes from Rift to Century or disable NS++.

Has nothing to do with Nationstates, this is an NS++ feature and was specifically built in.

I am disappointing that only comment here by Elu since Jan 7th of this year have not addressed any of these blossoming issues, and in fact related to a change (put off to the last minute, as well) that merely caused even more issues. Large portions of this extension are near entirely non-functional, some in the new default theme, and some across all themes. We all knew with Afforess gone, new addition might stop, but we were told that it would at least be maintained in it's current state. At this point, it's remaining functionality is, for many, outweighed by the visual and functional marring of the site it causes at this point of dysfunction. Yes, I understand people have lives and are busy, but near a full quarter of year without fixes to *any* of the major, function-breaking bugs? If Elu is that busy, perhaps it's time to try and find someone who can and *will* actually release some fixes for what was once the premier extension for nationstates users, unrivaled in quality and functionality.

I'd go back to my now-old bug list, add new ones from the past few months, and sort by how critical/extension-breaking they are- if I could get word from someone that it'd have an actual effect this time, as compared to the last time I spent hours compiling, testing, and adding screenshots to reports.

I've had to remove NS++ for all the reasons you have mentioned. Really too bad how it has turned out, it was an awesome extension that really added to the game.
Hopefully one day it can be fixed, or how about starting from scratch, and instead of an extension, build t directly into the preset system? Hmmmmm.......

If someone does resurrect a project either NS++ or similar I'd be interested in being on the team.

Unfortunately, the administrators have been reluctant to implement the NS++ changes wholesale and we're lucky we even have a like feature. The RMB system is... well, unfortunate as you would expect it to be reversed (as in NS++) to reply quickly and effortlessly yet Nationstates has been aware of this feature for a long time and refuses to put it in place. I believe the reason being advertisements in the footbar.

That means for many of the changes a third party extension is apparently inevitable.

Can't post in my region

Postby Crysuko » Mon Mar 30, 2015 1:49 pm

For reasons unknown to me, whenever I post something to the region i'm in, the post is ignored and page refreshes like normal. There is no apparent "mute" function and i'm the founder. This is very annoying, and I would like help with it please.

Are you using NS++? If so, please turn it off and try again.

Which web browser and nationstates theme are you using?

Have you tried ignoring the cache (Ctrl+F5 usually) and refreshing?

The regional news is great (among other NS++ features) - it is the reason I am putting up with the RMB posting issues. Still want them to be fixed, PLEASE ADMINS.

When I attempt to post, the message just doesn't show up. No error message, just no comment. I'm trying to post on the New Brannack message board. I do have NS++, so I'll take it down and see what happens then.

EDIT: I've taken down NS++, and it works. Will I be able to reinstall NS++ anytime soon?

A way to get around this without uninstalling NS++ or uninstalling the rift theme is by going to forum view when posting on the RMB

This sounds like a similar problem, in which I can't even scroll down to see older posts on the RMB nor can I even post anything on it either. I confirmed this was only confined to NS++

After a good bit of very frustrating digging, I have discovered, and (from what I can tell) corrected, the underlying problem with recruitment.

Satisfied that with that fix server-side, recruitment via the extension works, I will soon release 2.5.1.2 which fixes the RMB problem and has a few other fixes/improvements.

So it appears that after installing the NS++ Extension [Chrome], I can no longer post on any RMB. I type in, hit lodge post - it reloads like it is going to, then doesn't add anything. So I dug around with it, and was able to get a ''Failed Security Check'' error, would there be a discrepancy with the CHK transfer?

It seemed to fix after I cleared my web cache - and then started up again moments later, however - if I move to click ''forum view'' it'll let me post from there.
