Perhaps it was too long, I thought. So I tried "WW Envoy - Region of Islam" even "WW Envoy - ROI" ... nothing worked. Then I killed the hyphen. Boom, puppet made. I know hyphens are allowed in nation names, but is it possible that one here is causing it to error out and give the wrong message?

It's not a problem with NS++. Nation names can't have two or more punctuation marks in a row. Spaces are included. Without NS++ enabled, you get this error:

Your nation name contains two or more punctuation marks in a row. Please correct this before continuing.

While that quite makes sense, the fact that it comes up as me having no government type selected is still an error, albeit an interesting one. Hopefully, it can be fixed to declare that error instead.

(on that note, it'd be nice if I didn't have to hit refresh to reload the page and re-enter every field every time I forget something, but the reason behind that may be a legitimate coding one :P)

My understanding is it will be fixed in the next release. The underlying problem was that nationstates.net's second stage form for creating a nation assumes the first stage form has already validated the nation name, and so happens to default to a different error if there's nothing wrong with the rest of it. The fix is for NS++ to separately check if the nation name is valid.

My understanding is that the NS++ extension does not support mobile platforms. Sorry.

PS: If a mod could please merge this into the NS++ topic?

Edit: Thank you. For the record, the original topic had a title which indicated The Laxus Union was trying to do this on android.

Does anyone know whether it will be coming to Android?

I don't imagine it will be any time soon. From what Afforess has said, it simply can't work on mobile platforms as an extension, and repackaging it into an app is not on the agenda at this time.

Can you please make suppressed posts actually suppressed please. I use them to moderate the rmb and it's kinda hard with NS++ -_-;;

Would an option regarding whether to auto-show suppressed posts suit you?

There's already "Auto-Show Suppressed Posts" checkbox under regional settings, but that's a user-end thing. I think they're asking to actual be able to suppress posts and have NS++ not be able to see them (Which is the opposite of the point of this feature :P)

No, the suppressed threads that I suppressed because of rule breaking, should be permanently suppressed not just to me, but to everyone with an option for the WA/Regional Founder to unsuppress if they so choose.

Basically, circumventing the Suppress feature is harmful and it means I have to pester the moderators with stupid things that I should be able to manage myself.

When I wrote the "auto-show suppressed posts" feature, and defaulted it to ON for all users, it was because I have a strong respect for the right of free speech, and believe suppression of any kind is wrong. There are many regions that have hundreds or thousands of suppressed posts by founders or delegates who do not have the best interests of their regions' citizens at heart. While the ability to auto-view all suppressed posts does open up users to additional "spam" or "garbage posts" that founders and delegates normally try and clean up, I believed that this was a minor consequence of a much broader change to improve free speech across nationstates.

I wrote my reply in the past tense, as I am no longer the administrator of NationStates++. While NationStates++ still reflects my views strongly, it is highly likely that over the coming months it will begin to diverge and reflect the views of it's new owners. I suggest you ask them about this. However, I would protest such a change, for however little my opinion is worth.

Is the regional assembly idea still planned to be added to NS++?

I wouldn't consider Regional Assembly a priority at this time. Given how popular it was when Afforess asked for suggestions, it's not something I'd rule out developing in the future, however.

(And yes, I will be involved in supporting NS++ going forward.)

Oh. Hopefully it is implemented in the very near future, it was a very good feature, and I really wanted to see it implemented. It would have been great for my region. Also, could someone add this IRC chat room to my region: http://us23.chatzy.com/45143044181982

Ah, this explains why the news stopped getting published. I've been publishing the Roleplay News articles since I noticed in late September-ish, but last I checked there was nobody doing the Gameplay News.

The introduction of dispatches makes worldwide NS++ news seem less crucial, so I'm not treating it as a priority to get someone on that. If I'm wrong, please explain why :)

Is that a permanent no to all IRC implementation requests or just none irc requests because ... http://webchat.esper.net/?nick=&channels=Sovereign *coughs*. If you wouldn't mind for Sovereign Charter, it would really help out! We have a fairly active community on there is all and not everyone has access to a client.

Changelog for 2.5.0

  1. Added a Puppet manager
    1. puppet lists
    2. mass login / issue dismiss for puppets
  2. Added recruitment statistics for recruitment officers
  3. Switch over to websockets (makes NS++ faster, cheaper to operate) (Hopefully prevents NS++ from crashing over halloween...)
  4. Removed ad removal (sorry)
  5. Removed 'show unread forum posts' feature (sorry)
  6. Removed fancy dossier
  7. Fixed Issue #13 (wrong error when trying to create a puppet with an invalid name)

(All but the last were implemented by Afforess, whom I also thank for being extremely helpful as the handover continues).

2.5.0 will be rolled out for Firefox, Safari, and Opera... Soon
