I don't intend to spend much/any more time on Dark Rift until Rift is out of beta, but it seems to be basically usable. Northrop-Grumman may or may not be willing to maintain it.

Okay so Dark Rift's sidebar is only dark on nationstates.net. On forum.nationstates.net it's the same default color sidebar, but the rest is dark.

I am not understand.

Alright, folks. This is something that I'll take a look at doing when I have a chance over the next few weeks. I just briefly glanced through what [violet] put up there for the Dark Rift theme (Thank you! :) ) and it seems that most things managed to port over relatively ok. But I figure there's loads of old coding on my end that no longer goes to anything that will need to be stripped out and then there's the fixing all the little things I see that don't work exactly right.

Hi N-G!

Rift is likely to have a few more changes, you probably don't want to get too fiddly just yet. But most of it should be stable.

When Rift becomes default, that will toss up a few challenges too.

Edit: Please note that when you change between Rift and Dark Rift, the first time your Settings page reloads, it still shows the old theme. But once you navigate away from the page, your new choice is in effect.

Understood! So far, I've been trying to learn how all of these new pieces fit together, fix some of the more glaring issues (like the Notices page being all white), and stripping out a bunch of old code that was referencing the old side bar.

Working on that particular issue right now. http://i.imgur.com/KI6ca2X.png (And yes, the Max ad on the top left isn't there, but that's just a side effect of running the stylesheet from my computer as opposed to nationstates.net)

As far as I know, there's still some weirdness with how the new theme (even without dark) works with the forums, so [violet] may be able to provide more info.

I've been spotting the complaints about the region name being too dark on the nation page and various other issues, so I've took a crack at it and this is what I've got so far with everything: http://i.imgur.com/7Xs3mUa.png

On a side note, my main computer is out of commission for a few days until I reinstall everything on it, so I don't expect much in terms of fixes until the following weekend.

Fixed: forum topbar on Dark Rift should have a black background now.

This is fantastic, loved the new Rift look but hated giving up Dark, big thank you to everyone working on this
Looking forward to the region name fix.

Would also like to mention I'm getting weird little corners on my region/civil rights/economy/political freedom/regional influence

Your test scores indicate that you are an open-minded progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a journalist. It appears that you are skeptical towards religion, and have a balanced attitude towards humanity in general.
Your attitudes towards economics appear socialist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a humanist.
To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a uncompromising realistic egalitarian with many strong convictions.

The "Like" button for RMB posts seems to be missing or unreachable on Dark Rift. (That or I'm somehow unable to see it.)

EDIT: The "Notices" dropdown is also still white, but with white text. This causes an interesting effect, as you can imagine.

Postby Parhe » Wed Dec 17, 2014 11:26 pm

A few things.
Screenshot.
The newspaper looks odd. I am not entirely sure but I do not believe it was like that before. The notices are difficult to read. Bar the links it is too white to see comfortably. Lastly is it possible to make the links "pop" out to when hovering over it as with Notices? I thought it already did but I have horrible member and might have fabricated the memory.

Yeah, I caught that one and it's already a part of the fixes that I'm working on. See: http://i.imgur.com/7Xs3mUa.png

From what I can see by comparing the HTML source on both Rift and Dark Rift, the Like button is missing entirely. Rift: http://i.imgur.com/xe9IF2I.png Dark Rift: http://i.imgur.com/UvL7Nuq.png [violet] would probably be able to tell us more.

As for the Notices window, I've been working on that too: http://i.imgur.com/KI6ca2X.png

I see what you mean about the newspaper. Flipping back and forth between Dark and Dark Rift, the top and bottom of the dark newspaper were coded directly into the HTML in Dark, as opposed to just laying the CSS over on top. Looks like that didn't get ported over for Dark Rift.

Notices: See previous answer about the readability issue. Also, I don't believe the links popped out before.

Before I get on this, I have one thing to say: N-G, the Dark themes are the best thing to happen to NS since P2TM. 'Nough said.

With that out of the way, I just discovered that while trying to edit settings with Dark Rift (nation type, demonym, etc), the text box goes black, unable to be read without clicking out of the box or highlighting the text. Though they work, both of these methods are obviously somewhat annoying.

I just popped in because I found this out 5 minutes ago. Thanks for the hard work and all.
