So I've decided to put this together, in order to make it easy for, the next time this pops up, someone to just put the link to this as a response.
Simple as that.
How to Post an Image in the Forums
1. Find an Image
Pick an image. Any image. Say, your national seal, or a map, or something to that effect. The limit for NS Forums is 900 pixels wide, but common courtesy is to size it as less than 800 pixels by 600 pixels.
2. Put it on an Image Host
The next step, once you've found an appropriate image, is to host it on an Image Host.
Commonly-used Image Hosts include:
Imageshack (non-permanent)
imgur (recommended by [v] herself!)
Go to these sites and follow the instructions there.
3. Put it on the Forums
First of all, make sure that BBCode is enabled. You can check this by looking to the RIGHT of the post window, below the smilies.
Like so:
If it says that BBCode is OFF, you can re-enable it by going to your User Control Panel, then to Board Preferences, then to Edit Posting Defaults and making sure the radial button is clicked under "Yes" like so:
Then, click the Img box ABOVE the post window, near the centre of the grey buttons, here:
That will place the following code into your post window:
- Code: Select all
[img][/img]
Copy the DIRECT LINK from your Image Host, for example:
- Code: Select all
http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/zz87/paroxysm_photo/img-1.png
Paste that inside the
- Code: Select all
[img][/img]
brackets like this:
- Code: Select all
[img]http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/zz87/paroxysm_photo/img-1.png[/img]
Common Courtesies
-no images larger than 800x600
-don't just link to an image on someone else's website: host it yourself by downloading it and putting it on Photobucket/Imageshack
And you're done!
