Differences in punctuation/spelling happen throughout the issue base.

But at the end of the option, the punctuation comes before the quotation mark. Shouldn't punctuation and spelling at least be consistent within an issue?

Ideally. This is what happens when an issue is written by an American and edited by an Irishman. :p

Made them agree. Actually, looking at it, it was fine the way it was. Oh well. Minor change, doesn't matter much.

How do I tell the difference between an issue that mountains a molehill like #208 and you-should've-known-better deathtraps like #221 and #443?

If you dismiss it, it's always a molehill since it has no effect on you.

Simple.

#208 isn't asking you to cut taxes.

For issue #175: 'Is @@NAME@@ Too Promiscuous?', I suggest changing the third option's use of @@RANDOMNAME@@ to @@RANDOMMALENAME@@ instead because the bit about "@@RANDOMNAME@@ who is rumoured to have had more than a thousand lovers and even more children" seems a bit too implausible for a female human to me...

Issue 56, "Give Us Money!" Quoth the Poet:
"We need government help to promote culture." says Kathleen Han, chairperson of the National Poetry Society." There's a punctuation mistake: there's supposed to be a comma instead of a period.

ISSUE 445, OPTION 2

2."That's bloody ridiculous!" puffs red-faced protester, Josh Longfellow, blowing spittle all over their supercilious counterpart. "They're trying to paint all of this as something that any reasonable person would do - but it just isn't! I don't know every inch of the tax code, and it's not like I can get all these smug big-shots to hang around the flat and tell me how to 'structure my assets', or some other rubbish. They knew what they did was against the spirit of the law, if nothing else - take them for all they've got. It's only fair."

The use of the word "their" in the first sentence is a typo. I realize that the writer put in that word instead of "his" or "hers," because he did not want the pronoun to conflict with the random name, but that does not make "their" a singular word. I would suggest changing the word "their" to a singular pronoun, like "his" or "hers," even though there is the risk of the random name coming up with a name from the opposite gender. At least it would be grammatically correct.

Changed it to a male randomname and his.

None of these are errors. They're just issues doing amusingly silly (but in no way problematic) stuff because of weird things in custom fields. The game can't automagically parse your national motto to tell whether it's something your citizens would actually say proudly. It's just assumed. Which is more fun than issues never using your motto at all because of the inevitable possibility that it might not be appropiate for any given context.

Put a silly value in, get a silly response out. For many of us, that's a feature, not a bug.

"What have those poor, defenceless animals ever done to us?" asks Declan Sparkle, owner of the East Luxdonia badger Sanctuary. "Kidnapping these helpless creatures from their habitat simply to stick probes and needles in them is just barbaric! How would you like it if someone caged you in a lab and conducted tests on you just to find out whether a new product was fit for sale? Experimenting on animals ought to be banned!"

Capital letter for sanctuary should be a lower case s.

Not sure about the East Luxdonia bit as well. It does seem out of place.

Issue 311, option 3 effect line:
"condemned prisoners spend hours a day sitting in lotus position looking perplexed"
I wonder in the underlined text, does that make sense grammatically? Maybe should be changed to "sitting in a lotus position?"

No, "sitting in lotus position" is the correct usage. If you Google "sitting in a lotus position", all the responses are for "sitting in lotus position". It's standard usage.

Issue #57

Postby Lamebrainia » Thu Aug 20, 2015 11:55 pm

Like with cars- ban kids from using computers until they pass a test and get a license!

Suggested punctuation:
Like with cars: ban kids from using computers until they pass a test and get a license!

Because the second half of the sentence explains on the first half.
There should be a space before the dash, at the very least :)

The color you chose for that semicolon (at least I think it's a semicolon) is hard to see on a white background. at first I thought there were just 2 spaces. Red would be easier to see.

No, it's a colon.

Edit: Got something to report. #209, option 1:
"We need money now," screams Hope Anderson, a student from one of Tonosia's top achieving universities. "All these tuition fees are just too much! I need that money to spend on books, study materials, accommodation, and alco- well, uh, you get the gist of it. All these fees are doing is preventing people from poorer backgrounds achieving their potential. The government ought to pay for all university expenses. After all, if nobody went to university, where would all the doctors and teachers come from?"
Error and suggested correction highlighted in red. Also, should the blue commas be there? They aren't right now, and the sentence looks wrong without them, but I'm not sure whether or not this is just a style choice.

If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. | Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

Sorry about that. I'm using a dark theme, so I haven't given it a thought, but you are right. Thing is, red is usually associated with "wrong" and green - with "right".
Like Phydios said, it's a colon, not a semicolon. Why would a semicolon be there? o_O

Use underscore and strikethrough, either instead of or in addition to color. It always shows, even if you're highlighting a space.

Here we are mucking about with our inefficient technology and the birds have us beat!

There should be a comma before "and the birds"...
Clearly we need to convert all our inefficient internet

and another one after "clearly".

Thank you!

There could be a comma in both those spaces, but I believe the rules of grammar allow it either way. I think the current expression is clearer, and the commas are not needed.
