Over the last month, the trees outside finally began regrowing their leaves, but also the monotonous gray Discord background of darkmode users was once again sprouting with Citizen pings. Because the important voice of democracy of our Vibonian Citizens had to be heard again, for the third General Election of Vibonia this February!
And there was a lot going on once more! Many flyers were passed around our rather small region, urging all the citizens to vote. Compared to last term's elections, comparably less debates took place. For a month, Vibonia was in a state of emergency and in a clear election fever.
This time around, the candidates for each position were definitely more intriguing. Maurnindaia, long-time resident of Vibonia and one of the founders, was running against Saturn, another long-time resident. In total, 18 citizens had voted and Maurnindaia won Saturn in the elections for the seat of President, Maurnindaia gaining 8 votes, Saturn gaining 6 and 4 people abstaining. Congrats to Maurnindaia!
For the Vice-President position, Gojira, also one of the core founders of Vibonia, was the only person who ran for Vice President. He only had to win the trust of the people and wish that more people would vote for him over abstaining from voting. In the end, he need not be worried, for he absolutely won the trust of the people by double, getting 12 votes from the people against 6 people abstaining. Congrats to TITANUS GOJIRA II!
Last but not least, and the most interesting of them all, the Speaker position. Eesti, a rather new member of the Vibonian community, was the sole runner for the Speaker position. Unfortunately for them, he only got 8 votes from the people, which meant that 10 people had abstained their vote, which meant a Special Election had to be held. Eesti then stated he had lost interest in running for the position, and thus did not run. Meanwhile, Kat, last term's Vice President, declared their running for the position. Since they were elected Vice President and was Acting President for last term, the people had slightly more trust in them this time, and for the Special Election, 12 people had voted. Poetically, just like last term's Vice President Special Election, Kat, once again, got the same number of votes as the number of people who abstained voting - 6. Though, as demonstrated in that Special Election, a tie with Abstain still results in a win. Thus, Kat was elected as Speaker. Congrats to Tranquilizer-O7 and all elected people!
