If everyone could maintain composure while we try to work through these problems as a region, that would be wonderful. I understand that this chat has been controversial in the past because of actions on both sides. If we could keep calm this thread without the usual ruckus and useless drama of the Gameplay Forums, that would be great.

It seems odd to me that Grand Central was willing to post a very flawed and questionable speech by Stationmaster Ikania, and then is outraged that people are reading it and commenting in question of it? Afterall, if you don't want us to read and comment on it, why are you posting it to the Gameplay peanut gallery? This isn't just a place for you to pick up good press.

While I appreciate Ikania coming into GP to then post, it still leaves a lot of questionable parts of his speech un-answered, and I don't think it's improper for us to be commenting on the speech and general demeanor.

I was not referring to that, Tim, I was referring to the past drama in the old thread. Thank you for your concern for freedom of criticism. There has been quite the discussion over it already in GC itself and I expect that Ike should be commenting on them soon. I wouldn't think of censoring genuine concerns, but it seems that there have recently been quite a few flame wars, and as such I will have to post a caution against them, if nothing else, then as an "I told you so".

On the particular issue of sex offenders, well... they don't come around often. Like asking a city-dweller to prove he'd kill a horse by waiting for a horse to walk downtown. Yes, they do, actually. The sheer volume of recent cases - I can count 9 offenders and more victims in the last few years in the Gameplay community alone, and those are just the ones I know about - speak for themselves. Gameplay isn't such a big community that 9 people is a small number.

Not sure if you're counting them into your number, but at least two of the ones I can think of are Delete-On-Sight, though neither of them for their harassment actions itself.

Harassers are definitely at large, and more do crop up rather regularly, so they do certainly come around often - hence the importance of ensuring communities prevent their actions rather than enable endangerment through letting them in or, worse, coverups.

Earlier today, the person under the alias of Petar Winter, also known in the past as Petar Luchsinth and Petar Vasentius, was revealed to be the infamous Kasimir St-Pierre. Kasimir has been known to have dictatorial tendencies and also to have sexually harassed women, and is perhaps most infamous for nearly destroying the region "Democratic Republic of Bavaria" and causing turmoil in the Kingdom of Great Britain. Petar/Kasimir has since been banned from Grand Central by 95 Block, in accordance with Stationmaster Ike's policy of Zero-Tolerance for harassers. Below is SM Ike's statement on the banning of Kasimir.

Greetings Centralites,

Today, after a long investigation conducted by the good souls of NationStates, including our very own Trever, Selena and Glocks, we have found compelling evidence against the man known as Petar Winter (formerly Luchsinth). We also had assistance from Zenny, and our friends in the Communist Bloc, whose help was invaluable to this investigation. These findings expose him as a sexual harasser, and furthermore, as the infamous ‘Casimir’, who, as we all know, is notoriously guilty of such crimes.

These include coercion by threat of suicide, trying to manipulate others to appease his sexual desires, and toying with their emotions. Destructive, disgusting and utterly unacceptable behavior from someone who is supposed to be a trusted member of the community.

Grand Central has had experience with these unsavory sorts. I said it at the start, and I’ll say it again, because it’s important. We will have no tolerance for these people in the region. In his region, the Empire of Russia, we’ve already seen the dissolution of the legislature and the centralizing of power for Casimir’s autocracy. A blatant violation of the rights of the citizens in the region, and especially unfitting to talk about on the 4th of July.

The simple truth of the matter is that there is something dreadfully wrong with this man. From his sexual crimes to his tyranny, Casimir cannot be accepted as a member of our communities, from Grand Central, to Russia, to the feeders and the sinkers. Not until he has realized the gravity of his crimes, and repented. And there will be much penitence to do. Judgement will come from the victims, and they will decide when he has redeemed himself.

Until then, we will not allow him to perpetrate the further destruction of communities and commit more offenses. While he does not hold a significant presence in Grand Central, I am nonetheless taking the action to banish him permanently from the region. Elder 95 Block has already banned his forum account, and should he show face in our region, he will be immediately ejected.

I call upon every region across gameplay to show a similar attitude towards sex offenders, and not tolerate his presence. I’m glad that we were able to uncover this information, especially given the recent events in Petar’s region.

Accusations about offsite behaviour have no place here. Accusations regarding onsite behaviour are best reported to Moderation. Posting accusations regarding real world crimes has been previously addressed by the team. We explicitly informed you folks as to our expectations.

East Jesus No where's comment is an example of what not to do. Accusations of sexual harassment, and encouragement of suicide are serious. However, there is no means by which to prove it, notably if it happened offsite where the NS Mods have no jurisdiction. With respect given to precedent and a desire to weed out toxic behaviour in GamePlay, East Jesus no where has been given a *** 3 day ban for posting defamatory comments ***.
