The Idea

---

Bonneterre is a political role-playing region but it's an attempt to do things a little differently. Not intended to be your average region, in Bonneterre, you won't be a nation or a province: you'll be a person - a politician! You'll create your own character bio, political beliefs and parties and you'll have a constituency that you represent in the Parliament of Bonneterre.

• The region will be a parliamentary democracy led by a government that will need to "command the confidence" of the Members of Parliament. In other words: "United we stand, divided we fall." The gameplay in Bonneterre will be a mash-up of IC role-play working within the dynamics of regional gameplay.
  
  
• If you've ever been a part of or interested in the (in)famous NSG Senate threads then this idea may appeal to you also. You can propose and debate bills, start or join a political party and perhaps – if your party has more MPs than any other – form the government and set a budget.
  
  
• Whilst the set-up of Bonneterre as a parliamentary democracy and the IC past as a British colony won't change or be retconn'd, the rest of the formula and Bonneterre's future will be decided by the players. There is a lot yet to be decided too!

Bio: Although not originally born in Bonneterre, Blackadder has lived there for most of his life.
His father, Blackadder IV, had served as an officer of the British Army in the trenches of the Western Front in the Great War.
As soon as Blackadder IV learned that Britain had declared war on Germany in 1939, he fled with his family to Bonneterre in order to avoid the draft.
Blackadder V grew up in Consett, Bonneterre, and received his education there.
He was disparaged by the racist beliefs that most British colonists, even his own family, held towards the Native Bonneterrans and the African freedmen.
After completing a degree in history at Port Elizabeth University, he ran as the Socialist candidate for the Mayor of Burlington.
He won the election by only 16 votes, and became the first Socialist party member to hold that position.
He was one of the few elected officials to support independence from the UK.
Currently he is running for the position of MP to represent Chittenden Parish, on the platform of equal civil and political rights for people of all races.

He eventually served as a Chief Attorney to one of Bonneterre's biggest provinces, before being appointed to his current position.

Ah! Thank you, Sedgistan. I wasn't entirely sure whether or not to include the role-play aspect of it (or whether I should be posting in gameplay at all). I apologise; I should've TG'd beforehand. I'll remove the RP element now.
