I'm actually curious how judges will treat nominations of DOSed players. Will it be a major factor in the proces of debating or will it be treated depending on the reason of said DOS? Or will they ignore it utterly?

There's no official mandate from us running it on whether or not they can be chosen. This is an offsite thing, and these players have made major contributions - especially in Halc's case, since he essentially popularized tagging. Not that there aren't other dark spots in his history as well. It will be entirely up to the judges to decide whether the contributions of DoS players outweigh their demise, along with the effects (image-wise) of honoring them. Whatever they choose will like set precedent for future halls. I am interested to see how they go about this as well.

It would seem logical - after all with the decline of Defenderdom the Defender of the Year awards are redundant and GP needs a premier awards event at which all the Great & Good can see and be seen

Whether or not it's *yearly* may well depend on interest in it when it goes down, and whether people are willing to put time into running it again next year. Part of what's breeding it is the 10th anniversary of The Black Hawks. I'd like to see it happen every year, and even if it doesn't, I do think we all plan on seeing it again at some point.

It'd be nice to see an event like this happen yearly, but as Souls, it depends on if people are around to run things and such. It would also be nice to see other raiding groups host the event as while this is an event hosted by TBH, it is not a TBH event.

However, inductions into the Raider Hall of Fame will occur yearly regardless.

All judges are able to nominate. There will be time during RaiderCon for judges to nominate any additional names they'd like to see, but they can also do so before the fact.

Regardless of their DOS status, their contributions in the past cannot be ignored. Raiders doesn't declare people non-persons, even Moderation does.

Speaking as an individual judge and not for the judges as a whole, for me it will be one factor in decision-making but not the deciding factor. As Souls noted, their delete-on-sight status does not negate the contributions they've made in the past; however, we should also be mindful of not wanting to encourage the behavior that led to their DoS status, so if they're going to be inducted they better have made a significant contribution above and beyond contributions made by raiders who have followed site rules.

You're speaking specifically about Bob Moran (and Halcones). I'm speaking generally about DoS players, which includes but is not limited to them.

In regard to Bob and Halc, specifically, I can guarantee that both of their contributions will be taken into consideration, because I'll be making sure they're duly considered and I'm sure several of the other judges will be as well. I can't guarantee that they'll be inducted, and neither can anyone else, because we have to look at all nominees and their contributions and make decisions. It has to be kept in mind, DoS status aside, that there still may be other raiders more qualified for induction into the Hall of Fame when you look at the totality of each nominee's contributions. We'll see.

There has been over a decade of raiders and many of which have made considerable contributions to the field. This year's class will be the first inductees and only a max of six raiders can be inducted per year. There will be people not inducted this year who I'm sure many think should be. It is silly for anyone to assume who will be inducted this year. If someone deserving does not get inducted this year, there's always next year. That's how Hall of Fames work. Everyone won't be satisfied with the short term results, but they need to suck it up and realize it's takes time.

I would hope people celebrate the accomplishments of those who do get inducted and not raise a fuss over those who don't.

Speaking personally as a judge, I have some thoughts on these matters I'll be sharing with the other judges, but I feel Jakker's and Cormac's most recent comments are largely in line with my own philosophies regarding DoS players, as well as the responsibility we have as the judges inducting the first class in the Hall of Fame. Namely, that there is a wide variety of nominees that span the history of this game, and many of the nominations so far are quite new to the game, relatively speaking. This doesn't disqualify them, of course, but for this honor to be prestigious and for it to be taken seriously, we really need to make sure the candidates in this class are above reproach, and really represent the 6 best raiders of all time, not just those who may have made a recent impact.

Another analogy I have considered is Pete Rose and the Baseball HoF. He was a hell of a baseball player. On paper, he entirely deserves to be enshrined in Cooperstown. While some might argue he ought to be let in, he is currently banned because he, in the eyes of many, disgraced the game with his actions. Some things we as judges need to consider.

I see. There won't be room for the core parts of military-industrial-raiding-megaplex, because there are some 'prestigious-never-heard-one-hitter-piler-real-raiders-from-early-part-of-the-last-decade' who must be "enshrined" first. Both raiders I proposed as nominees, were serious ones, skilled ones, dedicated ones, systematical ones. Its largely because of their part and contribution, that there are now the raider war machine capable to make half years long occupations, jumps with 2 seconds time windows, make 80+ hits updates, long term infiltrations etc. Search for increased raider efficiency was the reason they went over of the final line.

No one said that Bob and Halcones are unworthy of being in the hall of fame, or that they never will be within the hall of fame. What was said in the previous couple posts is that the fact they made great contributions doesn't necessitate that they will be part of the hall of fame this year. Perhaps some other raiders, newer or older, will have that honor this year. And if this isn't the year that they are inducted into the hall of fame, perhaps they will be next year. I understand that you have huge amounts of respect for Bob and Halc, who were your mentors. Hell, they were both my mentors too, and i respect them a lot to, i even keep in contact with Halc from time to time. But what you need to realize is that the judges are not disrespecting them by choosing other people for this year's hall of fame, they are merely honoring other raiders. Again, that isn't to say that they won't be inducted into the hall of fame this year, i'm just saying that it's not guaranteed and that you shouldn't make a fuss about it.
