Vision Statement
To have and maintain a world-renowned close-knit confederation of nations, in which the ideals of democracy, equality, fraternity, and happiness are upheld to their fullest degree.
What is the point of this thread?
Foremost, to recruit nations that may have heard of us but have not yet made the switch to join; secondly, to generate awareness for the Western Isles; and thirdly, to serve as an international hub for the sake of major news updates and embassy exchanges.
Where are you located?
West.
So what is the Western Isles?
We are:
- -island themed
-growing very fast, with now more than 400+ nations in about four months time
-a democratic republic, with an emphasis on the democratic
-accepting of all countries and governments
-passionate about interactive role-play
-passionate about government
-currently undecided/neutral in our gameplay stance
Who are you looking for?
People who want to delve much deeper into a region, do things like debate, create laws, actively participate in different kinds of role-play events, and compete in heated elections.
What makes you different from other regions?
I took all the things I liked most from regions and combined them to create the Western Isles. The way our region was created and operates is completely unique to NationStates.
- -We're one of the newer regions. We don’t have any cliques and we haven’t become inactive or complacent. There is definitely a place for you here, and you won’t get lost in a sea of hundreds of players.
-We're incredibly new player friendly, welcoming, and professional yet casual. You can freely talk on our RMB and message any of the officers with any questions any time.
-We have an actively updated and relevant non-Earth-based map. New nations can be added simply by request, without having to jump through any hoops. Inactive nations are cleared from the map so that the map stays relevant and current.
-Everyone is equal (it's in the Constitution). Length of residence, population, who you know, and other such aspects are completely irrelevant to what you can and cannot do in the Isles.
-Our Constitution is clear, concise, and evolving.
-We have a real Supreme Court that gets to debate the Constitutionality of new laws, arbitrate, and discuss other judicial matters.
-Our legislative branch allows anyone to propose a law, and every member can "vouch" for a Senator that they wish to represent them.
-Our executive and judicial officers don't work by set terms of office. We operate on a challenge system. If you think you'd be a better Vice President than the current one all you have to do is announce that you're challenging them and we'll have an election. No bureaucracy, no fuss, no ridiculously long terms.
Offsite forums?
No, and there likely never will be. One of the things I most disliked about other regions was the fact that you have to separate your time between NationStates and another website with a completely different format. It's confusing for new players, it splits activity, and it serves to create obstacles for people to participate. There are no "citizen requirements" in the Western Isles. You can join immediately and do anything any other member can do. We've been operating smoothly without forums for months now.
Can I exchange embassies with the Western Isles?
Yes.
I'm interested in learning more about the Western Isles.
Feel free to telegram me, join the region, or post here with any questions and I'll get back to you ASAP.
I'm interested in joining.
Great! There is no membership application; simply move on in and we'll go from there.
