Payback for Haven? Even for someone not involved in R/D, this raid was really lame.

Cimmerians decided today to Pile that Utterly ridiculous Raid, after 3 randomized hits and Update Reinforcement to the Pit (Issue of This Thread) in the Update. Nothing better t do. My words in Skype (not to mention TBR Shout Box) before and during the Update were not most chosen ones ever said... :)

Not apoligizing anything as I got my Daily dose of Raiding. Finally.

Thanks Corporal Severania. ;)

I like how its the victims fault here and that more raiders are prepping to pile into a defenseless region, this really seems like a big challenge here woo hoo this one should go into the record books

Or they could be very slow at reacting.
Or they could believe they would not succeed at liberating.
Or there could be less than three active defenders in the NationStates world.
Or perhaps they forget that this particular region is under occupation.

All possibilities.

Ok. Enough. I'm against raiding as much as any other RPer.

But fuck. this. Raiding is not rape. Raiding will never be rape. Blaming those who are raided for getting raided will never be the same as victim blaming in cases of rape. This is a game. Grow the fuck up.

I am not comparing raiding to rape. I am merely pointing out how the arguments for 'it was her fault she shouldn't have been that drunk' and 'it's their fault they should have put on a password' are essentially the same.

So, you're assessing the similarities between the two arguments? Like the primary definition of the word "compare"?

Yes. I am comparing the argument against victim blaming to the argument against victim blaming. Nowhere am I comparing rape to raiding.

You can change the wording and the point is still the same. Would that make everyone happier?

"If he didn't want to be bullied he shouldn't have carried that pink lunchbox. That's just asking for it."
"If they didn't want to be raided then they should have put up a password. That's just asking for it."

It's still a facile argument, but at least it doesn't minimize the horrific consequences of rape by comparing it (which is what you did) to actions on a point-and-click browser game.

You are going off on a non-sequitur. The whole point is that the argument 'they should have put on a password. If they didn't they're asking for it' is victim blaming. You have an endless list of examples of victim blaming, and attempting to dismiss my argument on the nature of the example I chose is avoiding the point entirely. However, you're right in that perhaps deliberately inflaming a known sore spot is a bad idea, so I apologise for the use of the rape example.

My bet is that Invaders are piling too much in the region, what with the addition of uncalled help increasing the delegate's endocount to two whole endorsements.

How can defenders be expected to beat that? :P

It's partly because i'm enjoying seeing RPers freak out too much so i'm not pestering people to move in at minors :P
