Off-Site Forums

Many regions in NS have off-site forums and for some groups like some raiders joining the off-site forum is needed to get involved. I am not sure if this is the right place to ask but I have heard in general that off-site forums can be dangerous and that IP addresses can be captured that way?

Does anyone have any input on this possibility or it is overblown?

IP addresses and other information about you can be viewed through the Administrator and Moderator control panel on almost every site. If you're really that bothered, only register on forums ran by users that you trust.

If you're 'really really really' concerned. Then you might consider investing in a Virtual Private Network service, which disguises your IP address entirely. Depends entirely on your reasons and motivations of course.

that applies to literally every forum and website ever. you'll probably be fine, especially if it's a big region that's been around for ages.

Many regions will ban you if you appear to be on a VPN.

Or deny you citizenship.

Really, no one here is vindictive about normal citizens joining their forums. The only time most mods / admins are interested in IPs is if there's someone doing something they shouldn't be doing, like harassing regions / members, pornspamming, the likes. If you don't do that and don't try to beat some regions' systems (like multiple citizenship accounts), then the 2-5 admins there probably won't even care.

And yeah, only the mods and admins can view an IP address. Heck, that's pretty much the same business on these forums, I believe.
