I... have no idea what some people in this thread are on. I expect it's illegal and probably damaging to their sanity which will explain a lot of things.

Osiris has an legitimate government? Do we? Well I'd love to meet them seeing as I'm rather tired of being told that I'm part of the illegitimate government.

Anyone who can't see how they benefited from inserting themselves in the Osi situation is either willfully ignorant or trying to play innocent. They came out with the most gained of the situation.

You mean because they actually did something about it and succeeded, political capital was gained as a result? Egads! Maybe that's what defenders are doing wrong: failing.

Hmmm, The UDL and the FRA were the forces that did the successful slingshot move to dethrone Douria. No political capital gained -- in fact FRA's embassy remained closed and UDL never received an apology after we were called a spew of horrible things by Cormac in public because we removed a banned member from our own IRC channel.

This is rather unimportant though, defenders don't do what they do for political capital. However, getting used by Osiris -- first, slammed around for political points likely to please TNI, then asked to help them again is just the usual exploitative GCR relationship that defender groups should avoid getting involved with. That crap gets tiring.

Well, I can sympathise if you were completely stonewalled after the assist without any provocation or the like, but you might want to consider a potential branding issue.

Cormac offered to re-open relations between the FRA and Osiris, and requested our help before he was elevated back to the WAD position. I refused that request, and a subsequent offer of renewed relations following the successful switch. Just to clarify that the FRA had already withdrawn from Osiris after we were lambasted by the Kemetic Republic in their statement following the peace deal.

That I do recall.

I also recall JAL, (the one controlling Douria) agreeing to stepping down as delegate, and thus ending the siege. Not to say that the UDL wasn't trying to help, as quite a few of us were. It's likely of all the "groups" who was trying, the UDL was likely one of the biggest, and a very good chance of being the biggest.

Yes, you guys lost out. But what is it that you guys did or didn't do that led to you losing out?
Never underestimate the power of cynicism, pessimism and negativity to prevent terrible things from happening. Only idealists try to build the future on a mountain of bodies.

The Thing to Remember About NationStates is that it is an almost entirely social game - fundamentally, you have no power beyond your own ability to convince people to go along with your ideas. In that sense, even the most dictatorial region is fundamentally democratic.
