The Pacific has no elections and keeps a very low endocap, which is a price most regions don't want to pay for their security.

I knew there's a reason why Todd made the betting thing to be the beginning of September. All those punters who thought their money was secure with Cormac! :P

Anyway, nothing to see. Cormac came to his senses, and Asta should be alright.

Hindsight is 20/20: no one expected me to do what I did, almost anyone with a brain expected this of Cormac.

So, while it's possible that's true, it doesn't speak well for their intelligence.

Edit: Oh and also, at least I had the testicular fortitude to follow through. Jesus.

Before Cormac resigned, what did he do? Or did he just decide to eject and ban himself?

I wasn't around, but as far as I know he briefly changed the WFE and the flag claiming the region as a colony of Exshaw, suppressed RMB posts, banjected a few nations and initiated the closure of all the in-game embassies - before apologising for his actions, reversing what he did and resigning/leaving.

I applaud him for making the right decision to reverse it. It's not easy.

I send my best wishes to Osiris during these trying and confusing times.

Actually..it was couped, almost ten years ago.

Those of you gloating over what's happened shouldn't be. A personal tragedy in Cormac's life caused this, and even Cormac himself knows it was wrong of him to do. He's going to leave Nationstates, whether that's forever I don't know, however I'd ask that, even if you don't like him, or Osiris, you acknowledge that these actions were driven in part by grief and, y'know, back the fuck off.

Nope, I'm sorry, but part of that statement is completely wrong. Utterly and completely. Cormac is under a shitton of RL stress and anguish, and if you don't know that the heck happened, I suggest you back off ASAP.

You know what, just cut it. Nip that sort of thinking in the bud, please. Cormac is many things, but he, unlike you, isn't a treasonous traitor extrordinaire. And please, testicular fortitude? You threw a fit because we decided you weren't best for Osiris.
If someone has an RL tragedy, have the "testicular fortitude" to show a little respect.

It wasn't fun, not in the slightest. The fact that someone has a personal tragedy isn't goddamn fun. It's not something anyone would consider by any stretch of the imagination to be fun.

I think CG was talking about the game aspects of the game not what was going on outside of it.

I hope Cormac is ok. As for Osiris, you all need a new system.

And you, mate, need to chill the hell out. All people see here is another feeder drama like we have had gazillions of others. And the reaction is the same as any other. If Cormac had a personal tragedy, then I truly am sorry for him, but people here can not look into other people's personal lives and know that this is not another ingame stunt by someone. So unless someone here has a crystal ball and somehow magically knew the background behind this little stunt, you have no right whatsoever to attack them. Clear?

Now then, now that it is clear that there was some personal drama behind this, I'll ask people to keep that in mind, and keep this thread from turning ugly.

I'll apologise on my region-mate's behalf, CG. Emotions are running a little high in Osiris. Obviously, we're a bit stressed out and above all worried about Cormac. I can confirm that (physically at least) he's ok.
Punk Reloaded wrote:As for Osiris, you all need a new system.
No, I don't believe so. Cormac's actions weren't because of the system and the system we have in place allows a Pharaoh to take up to a month's absence. However, we are currently having a constitutional convention, and the executive is just one of a number of areas we're looking at reforming.

I guess I'm going to have to be the bad guy here. Eist is right. When you elect somebody you trust them to put the best interests of the region regardless of the circumstances. I'm going to take your word and believe he's suffering from a personal tragedy, but that does not validate what he did. I don't care that he decided not to follow through, he did it. I know this will be written off as some TITO propaganda or some crap, but it was foolish to trust him in the first place.

I'm no psychologist, but I know that not even we ourselves can always predict how we'll react in a certain situation. I'm not entirely sure what happened, and it really is none of my business, but yes, there are situations where people can react in a way you would not expect...that they themselves would not even expect. Whatever happened, in the end it is just pixels on a screen, and no permanent damage was done.
So lets move away from the pixels, and hope the player controlling the nation of Cormac, the human behind the keyboard, is alright.

Best wishes to Cormac and I hope he can work whatever it is out. But let's not excuse bad behavior on personal issues. That makes it sound like Cormac has mental issues, which I don't think you guys are intending to imply. Ultimately this is not a big deal, so we can look past it. But destructive behavior still causes problems and has consequences.
