New Defenders on the Block: Khanate of the Red Bear

Postby Urruk-Mal » Sat Mar 30, 2013 5:52 pm

Hello NS! We are the Khanate of the Red Bear, or KRB for short. We at the KRB are going to be a defender region, preferably a noticeable, prominent region. I am saying "going to" because we are VERY new and are looking for a way to get started. We hope to be up and operational soon. If you have any questions, contact me. Also, we are always welcoming of new recruits. Join us!

Defenders, by their nature, are less noticable, because they don't leave a sign they were there :P
Never underestimate the power of cynicism, pessimism and negativity to prevent terrible things from happening. Only idealists try to build the future on a mountain of bodies.

The Thing to Remember About NationStates is that it is an almost entirely social game - fundamentally, you have no power beyond your own ability to convince people to go along with your ideas. In that sense, even the most dictatorial region is fundamentally democratic.

Invaders leave signs behind them, defenders do the same on the invaders' behinds. :P

No, its dull and all it gets is people hating on you, like the UDL. :P

Are you saying the UDL would hate on these defenders?

In that case, you are fantastically wrong. Business as usual.

<@Eluvatar> Why is SkyDip such a purist raiderist
<+frattastan> Because his region was never raided.
<+maxbarry> EarthAway: I guess I might dabble in raiding just to experience it better, but I would not like to raid regions of natives, so I'd probably be more interested in defense and liberations

I think he was saying that like the UDL, they will end up with people hating on them. He just worded it badly. :P

In any case, Urruk-Mal, welcome to defenderdom!

Don't take too much advice from the UDL. I want better opponents than them :P

No, I worded it fine. Mahaj is just....well, Mahaj.

Nah I read it the other way too. Definitely can be taken both ways.

My advice to the new region would be not to worry to much about what the little people who like to stomp on everyone's sand castles says people think about you. You usually aren't going to be complimented by someone who is at the core a bully. And if you make the difference in just one region you have possibly made someone's day better somewhere in the world, which is one thousand times the victory they have in ruining the days of as many people as they can just for the sake of it.

Good luck with your region, Urruk-Mal. Don't listen too much to Cerian; everyone knows that he is just a defender wannabe in denial.

I think the only advice i can give is don't listen to all the other defenders :P Run the region the way you want to, not the way others "advise".

This is a trap Urruk-Mal...you'll be subjegated and re-educated by being forced to read Uni's NS essays until you can recite them by heart in your sleep. Not a joke.

Stay clear of trying to influence GCRs, false demotions and the whole 'we're more moral than you' and you'll get on fine.
