Should this pass the Deshret(and I believe it will), the Osiris Fraternal Order will be committing itself to freeing our sister sinker from the specter of tyranny. We cannot overlook the recent actions by Funkadelia's government against the Former Vice-Chairman for daring to consider democracy for the region. All regions should take pause and realize how far the Lazarene Regime has gone since Funk's rise to power. If you think this is bold, so be it: Osiris won't be shying away from our commitment to the people of Lazarus.

Speaking in a personal capacity, I can't help but feel some cognitive dissonance in Cormac's statement. The very first thing he complains about is somebody making an off-hand remark about endotarting. Yet TSP was given direct threats about being "back on the market" by Venico. Has Osiris taken any serious actions against Venico for this? Perhaps declaring war on the Brotherhood of Malice? No. Venico is still a high-ranking ISRA official.

Also, this running bit about Lazarus being a dictatorship is just dumb. It's as much a dictatorship as Osiris is. Neither region's theme is democratic. Pharaonic Egypt was not exactly a bastion of free and fair elections. Lazarus has elected its past two leaders in competitive elections. It doesn't matter what trappings they use to decorate.

I sincerely hope this motion fails. The last thing we need is another war among two GCRs.

Not that I care about GCR politics at all, but you're better than this Osiris. Then again it could be interesting to see how a war between the sinkers would play out. Of course I'd like it if it remained solely Osiris versus Lazarus, but we all know that'd never happen.

Sounds like someone's pretty miffed about not getting an invitation to a party.

Regardless of the political puffery, our friends in Lazarus should know that they will have the full support of the Renegade Islands Alliance and the RIASF. In the event that they are pulled into a war as a result of this asinine example of a power grab masked behind misguided ideals of self defense, you'll know who we side with.

Has Osiris taken any serious actions against Venico for this? Perhaps declaring war on the Brotherhood of Malice? No. Venico is still a high-ranking ISRA official.

Venico was making a general comment, not personally threatening aggression against The South Pacific. It was made clear to him both in public and in private that no ISRA soldier is to engage in aggression against The South Pacific. I also communicated with Delegate Kringalia to assure him that Osiris does not view The South Pacific as being "on the market," while I've received no correspondence from Chairman Funkadelia whatsoever.

I'm sure you were aware of me communicating with the Delegate after Venico's comments, Glen-Rhodes, but no one expects you to be professional at this point.

Additionally, I'm not sure why you would expect the Osiris Fraternal Order to take action against Venico. Karpathos threatened Osiris. Venico's comments were directed toward The South Pacific, which is not and will not be at any point in the foreseeable future a treaty ally of Osiris, and his comment wasn't even a threat in the same way Karpathos' comment toward Osiris clearly was. And he has since made two additional threatening comments.

Glen-Rhodes wrote:Also, this running bit about Lazarus being a dictatorship is just dumb. It's as much a dictatorship as Osiris is. Neither region's theme is democratic. Pharaonic Egypt was not exactly a bastion of free and fair elections. Lazarus has elected its past two leaders in competitive elections. It doesn't matter what trappings they use to decorate.

Let me just excerpt the preamble to the PRL constitution:

It is a dictatorship, but it is designed to be benevolent and adherent to the ideals of a democratic dictatorship, that is a dictatorship that seeks to represent the communitys popular will without the vulnerability to exploitation that is inherent in democracy on NationStates.

This isn't just a theme; it's their form of government. The Chairman appoints his own successor, according to their constitution. That there has been a vote for the past two successions doesn't mean that this will continue in the future, and we've already seen Funkadelia going in a much more authoritarian direction than his predecessors. They also don't have an independent judiciary, as that remains under the control of -- you guessed it -- the autocratic executive.

Your assertion that Lazarus is "as much a dictatorship as Osiris is" is libelous, and characteristically unprofessional as someone who has decided to use his platform in The South Pacific to wage an ideological diplomatic jihad on behalf of defenderism. Osiris has constitutionally mandated elections for its Pharaoh, significant checks and balances upon the power of the executive by the legislative branch, entrenched rights of citizens that go far beyond any rights guaranteed by Lazarus (we could not purge citizens for simply not adhering to the preferred ideology, as Lazarus recently has), and an independent judiciary.

I look forward to retraction of your libelous statement, but I won't hold my breath.

I'm a bit confused as to how your war to protect the Citizens of Lazarus from a Constitution they wrote is going to work.

The Rejected Times: Osiris to declare war on Lazarus?

Postby Glen-Rhodes » Sun Aug 24, 2014 3:50 pm

The point being, Cormac, that Venico made a comment identical in type to the one you use as the opening argument in your declaration of war. It shows some hypocrisy that you're taking the other guy's comment so seriously, but Venico's comment was just "general" and not "threatening aggression against TSP."

Perhaps it's the case that both comments were... Jokes.

But hey. Continue to accuse me of unprofessionalism. You're not the first person to use that line in the past few days. That seems to be the party line nowadays.

On top of that, Osiris is harbouring the lead of TSP Coup. A.K.A Councillor Durkadurkiranistan II (whose history of couping GCRs is notorious and more extensive than Karpathos's). I'm not sure how TSP is supposed to see this declaration from Osiris.
