Distribution of Population in Regions

Postby Holykol » Sun Jul 01, 2012 6:15 am

I made a little chart here, showing not the number of nations, but the population of all the nations in each region added up.Lazarus sticks out and the regions Galapagos and na alii have unusually high and low total populations. Keep in mind that the values shown when you mouse-over the pieces of the pie chart are in millions.

Since Lazarus was the original refound sinker it has older nations in it who never bothered to move :P The other 2 regions you mentioned are puppet storage regions.

edit: should have done this before the founding of Balder and Osiris. Lazarus was approaching 7k nations :P

An informative chart. Thank you for sharing.

Interesting. So, the top 20 regions account for 25% of NationStates population.

Population Percentiles

Postby Holykol » Mon Jul 02, 2012 4:36 am

Using ns tracker, i made a chart to show how nations are distributed by population. Each line on the chart is 5%; for example, from the top of the bar to the first line from the top represents the top 5% of nations in population. 50th percentile for population is 803 million. The spreadsheet has more exact information.

There's no need for a new thread for each new chart / spreadsheet. If you're going to do statistical analysis for a bit, change your OP and/or thread title to suit and add your new posts here.

Is it possible to have the last 5% more detailed? It's ~10 billion people which equates to roughly 50% of NS age.

I split the 95-100% into 5 differently colored 1% regions.
