Certainly. Although it's not always entirely clear cut on who are the aggressors, and who are the liberators.

This sounds interesting....

So it's like a defensive, helping, warzone raiding machine?

That's one way of putting it, yeah. The Warzones are a great place to train in both raiding and defending strategies. The SPA's primary purpose is to be a protective force that can come to the aid of TSP's allies, but the Warzones allow us to have fun too.

We may even hold competitions in future when the SPA is large enough, by pitting team leaders against one another in hold-the-fort style games.

I personally don't think it's the 'TSP way' to retaliate against those who attack us. We just want to defend what matters to us, and what matters to others who share the same ideals.

It would be a pretty extreme measure in my opinion to have to declare war, and even then I don't think it would be the SPA's place to make such decisions.

Regional conflict harms the entire community, I would like to see a force in NationStates that aspires to keeping the peace.

Yeah, TSP doesn't really go in for that whole 'War' thing. Last time we had one declared on us our response was kinda like 'Really? Have you nothing better to do?'

Well, yea. But that was (or hopefully was) different. Well all knew Punk Daddy was just grandstanding and didn't have what it took to back it up.

We already have groups in NS that exist for keeping the peace. Either you're just gonna be another generic defender group or a flop like TWP's treaty organization. Either way I'll be disappointed.

To each their own I guess.

TSP is far more interested in building a community on good principles than stirring up activity through aggressive posturing. We aren't interested in fighting senseless wars, or finding reasons to make enemies.

NationStates is a big game, but regional communities are comparatively small. I would much rather see a community grow than see another community collapse.

Protecting communities seems a worthy cause to me.

No one said anything about senseless was, making enemies, or aggressive posturing. GIven the idea of what your military seems to be about, I figured you were going to be on the more reactionary side anyway. But if you feel the need to be defending regions, then you will, one way or another, find enemies. Or, more likely, they will find you. I was simply wondering if you had any plans on potential retaliatory or preemptive strikes against regions that target you and your allies. Occupational hazard.

My previous post was in response to Belschaft's post.

I think it's important that the SPA remains a neutral organisation, and intervenes only when it is absolutely necessary in order to protect or support TSP's allies who share our ideals of democracy and free speech.

As for specific future operations, obviously it would be unwise to make any comments prematurely. If the SPA needs to go on the offensive, then it should only be a last resort when diplomacy fails.

But we also want to make military gameplay more inclusive for those new to that aspect of NationStates, and show that it is possible to raid and defend in a fun and relatively harmless way. We want the Warzones to become a place for both raiders and defenders alike to compete in a friendly fashion. More like sport, than warfare

I think that is what will set us apart.

I thought Sheep followed each other?

Anyway, the SPA has a good command structure. Decisions are agreed at the top of the chain but almost anyone can lead a mission if they're authorised to do so. Those who perform well can rise up the ranks and increase their authority within the SPA.

I feel interested to join, however:
- I am not part of the South Pacific Region, however I am nearby.
- I specialise in post modern tech, I could start to produce military weaponry.

I am however:
- In the WA.
- Can raise a quick and efficient army.
- Can develop technology at a fast rate.

I have no questions.
Am I qualified to join?

Wow, this thread is really overdue an update!

We now have 14 members. 10 of which are now active regularly.

We still hold Warzone Australia, which is still going very strong, under the leadership of Captain-at Arms Antariel, and we've recently re-taken Warzone Sandbox, which is now under the control of Private Drugged Monkeys. We now actually see regular ad recruitment on both RMBs, which is a good sign that there is life in these two Warzones ;)

Anyone with an interest in joining the South Pacific Army can telegram me directly, or post here.

Oh, and we have nice new shiny badges now. Shiny shiny 8)

Newspaper headline: "Sheepatropolis' Ministry of Intelligence evaluates possibly war with UDL!". First line of in article: "Following extensive investigation by the Ministry, it has been determined that a war with the UDL is indeed possible."
