Knowledge

A resolution to promote funding and the development of education and the arts.

Category: Education and Creativity

Area of Effect: Educational

Proposed by: Loneylover

Description: In this bill, I propose that we raise the education of all nations to a level that all citizens of all nations must complete an elementary through college education. This is so they will understand what we have done in our past, and so they can make different decisions to create a better future for ourselves.

Wow. T-shirt slogan. Not from WAperspective. Borderline branding. Does nothing but spout platitudes.

A resolution to restrict civil freedoms in the interest of moral decency.

Category: Moral Decency

Strength: Strong

Proposed by: Slavic Soviet Socialist Rus

Well I'd definitely say painting an entire group of people as perverted just because of consensual sex acts or gestures of mutual love is pretty offensive.

What group of people? The proposal would ban any people who are not in a two-party, different-sex marriage from having sex with each other, with the additional conditions that it be not-for-profit and that both parties are at least 20 years old. That's not really a group. The proposal doesn't explicitly call anyone a pervert, and if we were to assume that it implicitly calls everyone targeted a pervert, then that's true for sexually active teenagers, people who have sex before/outside/after marriage, polygamous people and prostitutes just as well as for gays and lesbians.

No, it is pretty explicit that all listed are "perverts" according to the author.

NAPA repeal - must be Tuesday.
GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSAL
ID: the_land_of_the_free_kingdom_1432328465

Repeal "Nuclear Arms Possession Act"

A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal

Resolution: GA#10

Proposed by: The Land of the Free Kingdom

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #10: Nuclear Arms Possession Act (Category: International Security; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: This proposal causes inequality throughout the NationStates. Granting WA members the right to nuclear weapons will severely harm the non WA members. There are other methods in engaging war with non WA members than using nukes on them. If we want to truly improve safety and human rights we can't allow for the WA members to control the non WA members with threats of bombing them. If we truly want to improve security then we must repeal this act.

Approvals: 0

Status: Lacking Support (requires 95 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 3 days 4 hours

It was ten about a half hour ago. Most days it's around 1-3 for the GA, and usually one for the SC, until a regional crisis comes along, at which time it spikes to 3-4.

Because it's pruned far more regularly (and with much less discretion) than it used to be, and because the submission link is hidden one page deeper. As has pointed out, proposal queues used to be much longer.
and usually one for the SC, until a regional crisis comes along, at which time it spikes to 3-4.

If you want to talk about the SC, can't you take it to the relevant forum? Not an official opinion, but to my unofficial eyes it no more belongs in here than roleplay belongs in the Gameplay forum or the NBA playoffs in the NS Sports forum.

No "repeals" clause. Also doesn't appear to be written from the WA's perspective.

Well... one can argue "we" can be interpreted as the nations of the WA, and that "Repeal this" is the repeal clause. It does seem like a silly self-contradictory argument, though -- they want to "demolish" kiddie porn without laws that "abolish" kiddie porn? I don't get it.

And given the sheer amount of votes that voted FOR putting the ban on in the first place...

...ANY proposal wanting to REPEAL it would be futile, not to mention any uproar and subsequent dogpiling that would arise if the author even bothered to make a [DRAFT] thread first...
