Suicide Prevention Act
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.
Category: Human Rights
Strength: Strong
Proposed by: Al Curtisany
Description: Under the Suicide Prevention Act, Suicide Prevention will become prioritized as a major healthcare expenditure. The Act enforces that:
All schools, public and private healthcare centers, government facilities, and government/ state funded universities will be required to have suicide prevention resources available for public consumption.
All school systems will be required to pay to educate staff on suicide prevention, including community resources, signs of potential suicide, how to set up suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention protocols, and communication with suicidal students.
Definitions
Suicide: As stated by the APA, is the act of killing yourself, most often as a result of depression or other mental illness.
Suicide Prevention: The act of taking steps to preventing a suicide by means of providing resources, providing treatments, and exploiting suicidal people.
Suicide Intervention: The act of stopping a suicide from being successful by catching an individual in the act of suicide.
Suicide Postvention: AKA response to suicide, taking steps to prevent a suicide cogitation (rare but real phenomenon of a series of people killing themselves in response to or by influence of another suicide, AKA "copycat affect")
Resources: Any materials, (virtual, interactive, or literal), that educate others on signs of suicidal individuals and how to respond.
Suicide Protocol: Instructions and procedures for what exactly to do in the case of any suicidal indecent.
Why?
Suicide affects everyone. In schools and communities, suicide cogitations can form. Suicides may also depress others, lowering academic performance. Suicide can also happen to anyone at anytime. Most people are unaware of the signs of suicide, (especially with their own kids) and pass the behavior of as "typical teenage behavior", "being down", or "just a phase". These are not the cases, and unless something is done, the problem will grow.

Repeal "Rights of Indigenous Peoples"

Category: Repeal
Resolution: GA#328
Proposed by: LeaveAlone
Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #328: Rights of Indigenous Peoples (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.
Argument: We acknowledge the effort put forth by Vancouvia to establish equality in the face of ever increasing discrimination.
We are, however, appalled at this resolutions lack of action, it seeks, acknowledges and encourages many things, but requires very little.
We believe the action required by this resolution, clause 9;
Prohibits member nations from forcibly assimilating indigenous peoples, or eradicating, reducing, or limiting their culture, with exceptions provided in cases in which existing international law prohibits specific practices of the indigenous peoples;
provides blanket immunity to the aboriginal peoples of a nation, and should fundamentally include exceptions for crimes against humanity, petty theft, ritual sacrifice, and civil war.

Repeal "National Economic Freedoms"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.
Category: Repeal
Resolution: GA#68
Proposed by: Jean Pierre Trudeau
Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #68: National Economic Freedoms (Category: Free Trade; Strength: Strong) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.
Argument: The World Assembly,
Applauding the intentions of General Assembly Resolution #68 "National Economic Freedoms" to promote health economic exchange,
Concerned clause seven which states "REQUIRES national governments to compensate any individual, group of individuals, or national governments for any physical property or money seized by that national government, excepting those assets used for criminal enterprise," would permit nations to criminalize any act they see fit in order to seize property or monetary assets of entities effectively rendering the protections afforded under this clause toothless,
Further concerned clause ten blocks future attempts by the World Assembly and it's member states to legislate upon the area of punitive tariffs and sanctions,
Believing these oversights, as well as a fundamental change in the dichotomy of the World Assembly necessitates the repeal of this outdated legislation,
Hoping the World Assembly will pass substantially stronger legislation on the matter of national and international commerce,
Hereby repeals General Assembly Resolution #68 "National Economic Freedoms".

Repeal "Rights of Indigenous Peoples"branding

Category: Repeal
Resolution: GA#328
Proposed by: Swatar
Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #328: Rights of Indigenous Peoples (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.
Argument: The Dictatorship of Swatar invites all respected member of the World Assembly to re-evaluate this matter.
The resolution as it stands makes not difference between an evolved and socially ready indigenous and a "wild" indigenous.
Some Nations might have a considerable number of indigenous peoples, and providing for them would prove an effort that could weaken the economy and social structure, not to mention the culture, of said nation.
The current resolution "Prohibits member nations from forcibly assimilating indigenous peoples, or eradicating, reducing, or limiting their culture, with exceptions provided in cases in which existing international law prohibits specific practices of the indigenous peoples", with no discrimination over the cultural and social level.
The part where the current resolution states "[...]unless a legitimate governmental need requires such land and no reasonable alternative exists[...]" is extremely vague and subject to interpretation which would lead to internal debate a possible international issues.
Again, the current resolution also states "in which case the indigenous peoples in the area affected shall be given fair compensation and adequate time to prepare for their relocation to reasonably close and similar lands" - not only we are not assured that the indigenous population would be willing to accept said relocation under any term, but they might escalate the issue to violence, involving a large international crisis and divergence in opinions between the members of this organization.
I therefore implore all respectable members of the World Assembly to repeal this resolution in this form and seek, if need be, to submit a new and much better designed one.
Repeal "The Prisoners of War Accord"branding, blog
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.
Category: Repeal
Resolution: GA#18
Proposed by: Al Curtisany
Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #18: The Prisoners of War Accord (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.
Argument: I wish there was an amendment option, but unfortunately not so. What must be considered is that if there is no "terror" in the concept of Prisoners of War, then why would troops try as hard to battle? Much less, why would there bother to be any defense at all? I agree that civilians should be treated well as described above, (really I think civilian PoW should be outlawed period). But as a soldier, you need motivation. You need a reason to go on. When you sign up to enlist in the military, you already know you might die. Which leads me to my next argument; whose to say that now since PoW accords are now more expensive and resource consuming, that militaries won't start operating under "the black flag", or take no prisoners and kill everyone. Fatalities would sky rocket! Has nobody considered this? Perhaps it's time. i officially propose to repel this Accord.

Resolution: GA#328
Proposed by: Tamrisky
Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #328: Rights of Indigenous Peoples (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.
Argument: The Indigenous people don't deserve any better than the non-Indigenous.
Just because they were here first doesn't mean that they should be treated better, get better health care or get better anything.
They can believe in there culture but we own there land now.
They want it back? they should stop only using the support of the government and try getting a job and buy the land just like every other person.
They can have health care just they have to pay the same as we do.
Approvals: 1 (Vancouvia)
Status: Lacking Support (requires 94 more approvals)
Voting Ends: in 3 days 3 hours
