In the Name of Freedom

A resolution to improve world security by boosting police and military budgets.

Category: International Security

Strength: Mild

Proposed by: IGI

Description: Goal: To increase the budget of militaries worldwide so that unstable nations and nations with civil war issues can be assisted so that they may prosper.

The Cost: This budget increase has to come from somewhere and it will come at the cost of other removing funds from other budgets, respectively they should come from Religion and Spirituality or Public Transportation.

This issue will help many nations and can issue the world a new peaceful era and global stability. Without the bill many nations will or could fall to terrorist threats and separatist revolutions.

No operative clause I can see. Metagaming, I believe, for mandating in-game budget numbers be increased and/or decreased.

A resolution to promote funding and the development of education and the arts.

Category: Education and Creativity

Area of Effect: Educational

Proposed by: Kolekya

Description: TO CLARIFY that the future of every nation is in the hands of the youth and children.

EXPANDING education will result in a much more civilized society and give oppurtunities to our youth.

NOTING that the literacy rate of the students will reflect on how they thrive in the future.

ALSO NOTING that math and literacy are the essentials to open many oppurtunities.

HEREBY declaring in the success of this proposal, we shall encourage governments of all nations to educate our children and youth, whom will crave the civilization of the future.

Does nothing but give ideas for bumper stickers.

The increase in military budgets is automatic when an IS resolution passes, anyway; don't really know how other budget areas are affected.

Was it plagiarism, as well? That's normally a "one strike and you're out" factor for WA membership, although I think not usually for DEATing too...

Oh, and "RL references" too of course.

The arguments are disconnected moving from Nuclear, to chemical, to WMDs in general like they're losing focus between every clause. So I'm going to go for bloody stupid too.

Are these places in the proposing nation? MetaGaming -- though simply naming NS nations or regions would be MetaGaming too, not Branding. Branding has to do noting authorship (or excessive co-authorship) in the text. Naming RL places would be RL violations, obviously.

Yes, I remember that being clarified when "Sheknu" was writing "The Houston Convention" (the Chemical Weapons Ban). It had already been in place before that, too. One of the more unnecessary rules.

Just a quick note. The overuse of "Bloody Stupid" in this thread has been an issue before. Not that any of you guys are overusing it, but still:

Ardchoille wrote:While "bloody stupid" is a fair description of many of the proposals in this thread, precise references to specific violations (strength, category, duplication, optionality, etc) are greatly appreciated. Not all mods are au fait with the Proposal Rules, and players' informed advice sometimes helps us make illegalities clearer to would-be proposal writers. "Bloody stupid", in its technical sense, is for proposals when that's the overwhelming reason they're illegal.
