Sweet Jesus. I tried to have faith in the voters that this would not actually be needed. The stupidity of the WA is really getting out of hand lately.

We had a nice autumn, but the last summer was slow to end, and this one is kicking up early. NSG is already seeing an influx of neo-Nazis and edgy newcomers, so the WA's deficiency in thought is understandable.
While she had no regrets about throwing the lever to douse her husband's mistress in molten gold, Blanche did feel a pang of conscience for the innocent bystanders whose proximity had caused them to suffer gilt by association.

OOC: It's not stupidity, it's just not reading the resolution with a critical eye. Skimming over the resolution, it looks like a feel-good, yeah-we-oughtta-do-that bit of legislation; it's not until you really delve into the details that you realize, hey, all it does is require a whole lot of people to do very little to comply, ultimately accomplishing next to nothing.

OOC: Indeed, although I might also suspect that some of the delegates are not taking their WA votes seriously. I'm seriously lamenting endorsing who I endorsed for my region's delegate, as he's admitted that he hasn't even read the resolution and simply voted for whomever was on top. But, he was the only other WA nation in the region at the time, so I couldn't do much.

OOC: Yeah, I forget sometimes too. :p

As for the ruling, remember, it's the "whole lot of people" part that elevates the strength. Every police officer, MP, national guardsman, secret serviceman, palace guard, coast guard seaman, etc., needs their five seconds of training. It's the breadth that makes it Significant.

OOC: So if I wrote an IS proposal that mandated that every police and military person needed to smile once per day and would be given a piece of candy as thanks, the number of people involved would allow me to use significant strength and the spending on candy to keep the category?

Yes. Also, the expense of candy being given to every law enforcement officer in a nation every single day... Imagine the state being tasked with eternal Halloween (Or, I suppose, some other candy-issuing holiday celebrated elsewhere in the world rather than in America).

This will be submitted in about 11 hours.

OOC: Considering how most nations pay a salary to both the police and military personnell, I wouldn't think that 7 pieces of candy a week would be all that onerous. They don't have to be large pieces, after all. Breath minths, for example. Or ones with xylitol instead of sugar, to avoid tooth decay. That would be left to the national governments to decide, of course. :P

But what about the inspections to determine who has smiled and who hasn't?

And with that last comment, you could rewrite it as a Health resolution. "Prevent Police Tooth Decay"

The Ambassador suppresses a giggle. It was people like them that made her want to be more active in these halls again. Though that very thought made her immediately look around to check for the troublesome ones who had her voluntarily reducing her activity to minimum requirements to... avoid unpleasantness.

Laws have been enacted to bring Imperium Anglorum into compliance with the World Assembly resolution Law Enforcement Education.

Parsons: Fortunately, we didn't actually do anything. Compliance with LEE is simple as balls. Fund non-existent programmes.
