Oh, trust me, it's staying. There was a hiccup with the TG campaign (It stopped after 666 deliveries?), but my WA Elite benefactor restarted the campaign today, so now it should probably reach quorum.

With Natalia being busy preparing a large pot of caldo verde in her office, Ricardo rises and speaks on behalf of Sciongrad. "After reconsidering the arguments presented, I think Sciongrad is gonna vote against this repeal. I don't think World Assembly resolutions are, like, appropriate places for jokes and Sciongrad doesn't want to be complicit in this train wreck waiting to happen. I really hope Ms. Schultz to reconsiders, because, like, she might poison the well and make repealing the target resolution harder down the road."

OOC: Perhaps their previous decision? Nothing needed to change in the text for somebody to change their mind. At any rate, I know GA jokes are expected to generally be more subtle.

OOC: I was unaware that I am only allowed one opinion per draft. I suppose in the future, I will have to use more discretion before submitting my opinion - I wouldn't want to waste it lest I come to regret it later.

I'll note, however, that my arguments were not the same. I initially argued that the joke - which is not at all subtle, unlike most jokes found in GA resolution - would make this resolution dead-on-arrival, and I continue to believe that, but I plan to vote against it because I believe that in the event it does pass, it would damage the World Assembly's reputation. I hope that is sufficient justification for my reconsideration?

Leave out the sarcasm, I never said that. I simply asked what made you change your mind when the factors were still the same. (In other words, since the information you were presented with was the same, what made your decision different this time?)

I'll note, however, that my arguments were not the same. I initially argued that the joke - which is not at all subtle or clever, unlike most jokes found in GA resolution - would make this resolution dead-on-arrival - and I continue to believe that - but I plan to vote against it because I believe that in the event it does pass, it would damage the World Assembly's reputation. I hope that is sufficient justification for my reconsideration?

OOC:
Yes, that is a justification for reconsideration. I do not, however believe it is a good justification for voting against.

I highly doubt it will ruin the GA's reputation. We all know the lemmings don't read that far anyways, so for a large portion of WA voters, it won't affect them at all. For those who do read it, a significant number have expressed support or praise for the humor. Furthermore, there are those who, (probably like you) do not like it, but realize it is the fault of one particular author, and not the GA as a whole. That leaves a very small minority who would actually read it and then find it so stupid/unprofessional/whatever that the GA as a whole (and not just me in particular) loses reputation in their eyes.

Excidium Planetis wrote:In other words, since the information you were presented with was the same, what made your decision different this time?

OOC: There was no external impetus that made me change my mind. After returning to the thread and reflecting on the draft, I decided that I disagreed with my previous post and posted again to reflect my new opinion.

We all know the lemmings don't read that far anyways, so for a large portion of WA voters, it won't affect them at all.

OOC: The lemmings are not the problem, unfortunately. It is the large regions who use their forum votes to determine how their delegate will vote. These ~75 people do read resolutions and their voices count for thousands of votes.

For those who do read it, a significant number have expressed support or praise for the humor.

OOC: I don't deny that it's funny - I chuckled when I first read it - but I think that such an obvious joke is unusual for a resolution and will damage how other players view the GA.

OOC: Again, I'm worried the GA's reputation will be damaged in the eyes of GCRs and large UCRs. That is a very real possibility, as in my experience, they do not enjoy jokes in resolution.

The Confederacy of the Greater Siriusian Domain has been supportive of this repeal even before it was drafted. However, the recipe, while controversial among our people, has resulted in the unanimous support of the Siriusian Assembly Counsel. As First of Equals and High Counsel, I am happy to announce that you have the full support of The Confederacy of the Greater Siriusian Domain.

Judging solely from the fact that this is your WA account, I'd say I have been RPing on NationStates a lot longer than you have.

I have RPed in the WA a lot longer than you have.

I have passed more IC resolutions than you have.

I think I know what RP means.
