Other then the fact that there is nothing in the proposal that has to do with health or bioethics? That is concerned with so called "Cataclysmic Device" and scientific research involving said devices. I can't think of any health care related research that would need a "device that has the potential energy or capability of destroying or rendering a planet inhabitable, including, but not limited to: planet-cracking devices, hyperspace collision devices, gravity disruption devices, large-molecule fusion reactors, molecular disruption, self-replication automated androids, devices capable of creating a singularity or altering a star's composition."

Fabulously bisexual.
Note: I do not use NS stats for my RP, instead I use numbers I made up one evening when writing my factbooks.

Which would make it Global Disarmament. :idea:

GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSAL
ID: capitalizt_abidawe_1434286903

International Minimum Wage Law

A resolution to reduce income inequality and increase basic welfare.

Category: Social Justice

Strength: Mild

Proposed by: Capitalizt Abidawe

Description: Stating a Firm Belief in the idea that, if minimum wage remains unregulated it could be detrimental to:

The World Economy,

One's National Economy, or

The Workers

Imploring that action must be taken in ending this issue and helping the well-being of the workers while still keeping the Economy in tip-top shape;

Noting that the best solution is as follows: minimum wage should not fall below $3.00/hour nor should it exceed $10.00/hour to decrease inequality while protecting the World Economy;

Adding that this law is not in place to ensure everyone is guaranteed to earn enough money to live off of, as that is impractical, but simply to ensure that they earn enough off of their entry level job to, at the very least, support themselves minimally;

Insisting that this action must be taken in order to reduce the significant income equality that is present throughout the world without causing any significant damage to the World Economy;

Explaining that the minimum wage is simply an entry level job that can be worked up from, therefore the max minimum wage is not the maximum wage for all upper-level workers;

Hereby Establishes the International Minimum Wage Law.

Approvals: 2 (Brazistan and Irestani, Heartlost)

That's a rather crappy comment. Perhaps you could try to make a bit more of an effort when commentating proposals if you'd like authors to... you know, make a bit more of an effort when writing them.

Pointing out an illegality (even a really obvious one) can be helpful to mods, authors and anyone else browsing this topic. Saying why (you think) a proposal is silly can be helpful to authors and lurkers, and it can spark an argument or discussion on a proposal which doesn't have its own thread. Those things can often be done succinctly, in some cases in as little as two words.

But saying that a proposal is "pure crap" serves no real purpose.

The first one is the wrong category, and both of them are way too vague. Both are blogposals.

Even in writing only "pure crap" Kaboom has put more thought into his post than the author did into that proposal.

It's painfully obvious that it's illegal to anyone who reads it. To attempt to claim otherwise is being dishonest.

To anyone who reads it and has a basic understanding of the rules, yes. One of the upsides of this thread, when it works, is that newcomers can gain a better understanding of the rules. In Kaboom's elaboration above, there are direct references to the rules ("wrong category" and "blogposals"), and someone who hasn't fully understood those rules yet could perhaps gain a better understanding here and now.

Our aim here should be better proposals in the future, and saying why a proposal is crap has a chance of contributing towards that aim.

Research of Neuro-Diseases

A resolution to modify universal standards of healthcare.

Category: Health

Area of Effect: Research

Proposed by: Capitalizt Abidawe

Description: "In a stunning discovery that overturns decades of textbook teaching, researchers at the University of Virginia School of Medicine have determined that the brain is directly connected to the immune system by vessels previously thought not to exist. That such vessels could have escaped detection when the lymphatic system has been so thoroughly mapped throughout the body is surprising on its own, but the true significance of the discovery lies in the effects it could have on the study and treatment of neurological diseases ranging from autism to Alzheimer's disease to multiple sclerosis." - www.sciencedaily.com

In Response to This Discovery we believe that it is necessary to change the way the world looks at these diseases and how they can affect the body

Stating that according to this report, neurological diseases may actually have an immune system component and that, if this new discovery goes unnoticed that we may lose our chance at finding a cure for these horrid diseases

Imploring that all nations should add this major finding to their Biology and Anatomy textbooks immediately as well as ensure that their Researchers are aware of the significance of this finding

Hereby Modifies the Research of Neuro-Diseases

Oh look, a textbook example of a RL reference.

Would that not be plagiarism as well?
Also violates the "not from WA's perspective" rule, and I don't actually see any operative clause.

Well, they did cite their source...

As far as operative clauses, even if "imploring" that this is added to textbooks is an operative clause, wouldn't that make this the wrong category then?

GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSAL
ID: atrocia_1434390534

Save our Seas!

A resolution to increase the quality of the world's environment, at the expense of industry.

Category: Environmental

Industry Affected: Fishing

Proposed by: Atrocia

Description: The environmental state of some nations is Atrocious. After an overview of some other nation's environmental stability, I have seen that not many care about what they do to their Oceans.

For this reason and a few unsaid others, I am proposing that we improve the quality of our Seas, Oceans and Rivers and save the animals living within.

By agreeing to this proposal, you are agreeing to save millions of underwater life forms, and to improve the overall quality of our waters.

Also, the water that we get in our taps is tainted by chemicals that filtering cannot get rid of because fishing industries and oil drilling industries have been polluting our waters with toxic wastes.

This proposal will save the lives of many living organisms, and people, and will, all in all, make the waters of The World cleaner and safer to drink and to live in.

Approvals: 1 (Atrocia)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 92 more approvals)

GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSAL
ID: arrlia_1434431113

Repeal "Nuclear Testing Protocol"

A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal

Resolution: GA#330

Proposed by: Arrlia

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #330: Nuclear Testing Protocol (Category: International Security; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: The World Assembly:

Recognizing and applauding the intent of Resolution #320,

Noting that, regardless of intent, certain concerning discrepancies are present in the resolution, including:

1. Unnecessary qualifications [for example, 'excessive harmful contamination', 'harmful damage'],
2. A lack of decisiveness in language, particularly the overuse of the words 'if' and 'could', when discussing the effects of nuclear testing,

3. The cognitive dissonance in ordering nuclear testing information to be a state secret, then empowering an outside force [the World Health Authority] with the ability to demand access for monitoring purposes,

4. Noting further that the classification of all nuclear testing information and materials would prohibit civilian usage of the data, thereby inhibiting scientific progress unnecessarily,

Hereby repeals Resolution #320, "Nuclear Testing Protocol."

So this is repealing Infectious Disease Control? I am sure Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland would love to know these arguments apply to his resolution.

This is why we need to change it to "Resolution Text", as IA has been pushing for.

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #330: Nuclear Testing Protocol (Category: International Security; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.
