What was that Brother Maynard? No I'm not drunk. Well perhaps a little. That previous resolution was annoying. Patents you say? Well, whatever it is, I'm against it. Even if the repeal argument is correct, I'm against it. It really silly, actually, the whole renewal thing. It says quite clearly in the resolution, "minimum term of the patent shall be at least 20 years" and does not state a maximum. Therefore the maximum is "infinity and beyond!" ...

I had originally voted against this but have now switched my vote, following as usual the running tally of The North Pacific's forum poll.

I am personally in support of the repeal. I have my issues with the proposed replacement, but independently of that, GA#93 has been widely acknowledged to be problematic and ought to be repealed.

We have reconsidered our position on this repeal. Repealing the mild free trade resolution, "The General Patent Charter" will drive our nation even further down the economic road to hell by eliminating whatever minuscule free trade our nation had in the first place. Some people suggest that the lack of patent recognition could lead to a major industrial revolution in our crappy nation as private industry would steal every good idea from every other nation and use it for the great glory of profit. Fortunately, we have completely crushed our private sector, so there is no chance that we can steal our way to recovery.

I feel that this law would help people to not be mislead by a false producer and would let companies be more open with their ideas without worrieing that their creation being stripped from them and would also make the patenting laws a little less vague and draw a clear line. This I believe will futher encourage creativity and ingenuity.
