So I'm looking for a small German car, and I wanna know which of the Big 3 (Volkswagen is out because of family issues) would be the best used car?

They might. It would be upgraded quite a bit from the Asian version. And would be more expensive because of it.

BMW's look rather stunning, in my opinion, and Merces I find to be (generally) plain and unappealing. And yes, that really is all that matters.

Personally I'd go for the Audi, the A6 is nice and I'm sure quite a bit less expensive than a Mercedes or BMW

I guess it depends on what you want out of your 'small German car.' I think when it comes to 'small' of those three Audi is the one that packs the most into the smallest package, with the A3 and TT.

From a personal preference I like the S4, then the M3, then the SLK AMG. The latter, apparently, packed a bunch into a small package. And every automotive journalist on the planet it seems likes the M3. I like all-wheel drive, and have been a long time fan of Audi racing from the quattros in the 80s, so I tend toward Audi in my preferences.

I drove a BMW 320d on the Autobahn at 140mph, that was awesome. I have moved a few Benz' and there is just too much crap going on in those cars.
