There are two levels of shocks, 60 volt and 66 volt, that transmit currents of 15 and 41 milliamps, on average. Tasers, by comparison, transmit between 2.1 and 3.9 milliamps on average, but for a much longer period than the shocks used at Rotenberg.

At least, in my experience at least.

Electroshock therapy isn't the problem here. It can be extremely helpful to patients when performed correctly. The problem here is that these kids don't need it, and its being used as a punishment and not as the medical treatment that it is.
EDIT: Saw above post. You're right that is just plain wrong. At least have the balls to use a TAZER and man up to what you're actually doing.

Just to clarify: this is corporal punishment, not electroshock therapy.

There's a difference between a crazed homicidal madman and a kid that has mental issues that's just looking for a shot in the world. One I incapacitate or kill, the other I pity. I'll let you take a serous guess on the one I kill.
Especially touching for me because I go to school with a guy with Aspergers.

Tasers are a third thing. They're neither electroshock therapy, and nor properly are they corporal punishment. Used properly, tasers restrain a person for arrest or to prevent an imminent threat (like them being physically violent or using a weapon).
Admittedly, they do sometimes get used as punishment, but really they shouldn't.
