THE SPORT REPORT
The Emplor on Sunday's weekly sports analysis

Farrenton suffer exodus, Sharp leaves Erathore and Revolutionaries lead the pack abroad

The transfer market has been very active in the pre-season period, with “The Great Flop” side Farrenton Athletic suffers an exodus of epic proportions. Scott Daley departs to Edmonton in Valladares for £7.5m, Ben Kean departs to EMI FC in Erathore for £11m and Josh Stevenson remains in the Gold League with a £13.5m transfer to Sparta FC.

Meanwhile Lee Sharp has moved on to As’ilten in Civil Citizenry for £15m after repordetly becoming unhappy with life at FC Mildrid. New Viribi ownership, the phasing out of many players by the famous Di Bradini and the departure of Del Nieran last season have left Sharp feeling he needs a ‘fresh start’, as he said in a press conference, despite two very successful seasons at FCM. However Sharp insisted that despite departing soon after Di Bradini’s arrival, he had enjoyed the time he had spent with the legend. “Meeting him was an honour and so was training. In the short time I spent with Mr Bradini I feel I learnt a lot and hopefully I can use that experience to improve my play.”

A trio of Valladares players have been signed by a trio of teams all promoted to the Gold League last season. Eduardo Prost, signed by Honeybadgers, and Mario Mikkinen, signed by Lajuno, are both centre backs knocking on the door of the Valladares national team. Luther van Ferris is a reliable central midfielder who has moved to Ulsa Rovers.

Revolutionaries, who last season exceeded all expectations to finish 4th, have decided to expand their squad. They have brought in Civil Citizenry’s best striker, Vomare Eksyama, for £22 million from Onulei. At the same time they have obtained Swartaz Under 21 hot prospect Mikael Johannes from Vaastrada FC on a season long loan, an attacking midfielder known for his dexterity and skill with both feet. Revolutionaries also did very well in the Globe Cup, reaching the Eliminatory Stage before eventually being defeated by the tournament runners up, Hondo FC.

Directus however flopped at the first hurdle in the TQCC, and neither West End Athletic nor Bastion played well in the Globe Cup. In the SBCC all three FSSO entrants went out at the first hurdle, and in the Cygnus Cup New Harkdown were defeated in the qualifying rounds.

Three days later…

Revolutionaries overcome New Harkdown in friendly

Bastion Arena, Bastion. Attendance - 90,236

Revolutionaries – 2
[i]Johannes pen 23, pen 78[/b]

New Harkdown – 0

Swartaz’ian youngster Mikael Johannes scored twice in his debut on his loan at Revolutionaries, two penalties sinking New Harkdown. Revolutionaries were largely the better side but Kieron Kane came close for Harkdown, hitting the post with a curling free kick only three minutes into the match. But Kane accidentally handballed from a Revolutionaries corner, gifting them a penalty, which Johannes calmly finished with class and elegance. Man of the match Johannes displayed signs of quality and did well to adapt to his loan team, helping set up plays and he was unlucky not to get an assist when his dipping volleyed cross just before half time was headed over by Vomare Eskyama, who also made an impressive debut. The win was sealed in the 78th minute when Eskyama was hacked down in the box, and Johannes easily dispatched the penalty.

Xavier completes Athens move

FSSO international Simon Xavier has completed his move to high flying Civil Citizenry side Athens Town from Gold League bottom club Pashter United for an undisclosed fee.

Xavier, 21, departed the club amongst speculation that he would make a move to Directus, but this morning revealed that he had signed for the CC club. His remarkable 24 goals league goals last season were not enough to save Pashter United from relegation, after they heroically stayed up the season before. Following an outflow of their best players to Gold League teams who stayed up, it remained to be seen when Xavier would leave - and where. Although the fee has not been disclosed, it is expected to be in the region of £10m quaglifumps.

He is not the first FSSO striker to travel to Civil Citizenry - he follows in the footsteps of Lee Sharp, who moved to another club in the country just two seasons ago following a short but succesful stint in Erathore. Young Xavier will be under pressure to perform alongside Alessandro Mettis on the Athens frontline if they are to fufill their ambitions to become the best side in the south west of the Rushmore continent, but he has revealed in his first Athens Town press conference that he is comfortable with the lofty expecations on his shoulders.

Transfers, transfers, transfers!

It's been a busy last few weeks in the transfer window. Here is the Emplor's analysis of the key moves:

Note - Mikael Johannes is not included on this list, as he is already at the club he has been transferred to - but his loan move last year to Revolutionaries is now a permanent deal.

Simon Xavier (21, FSSO, Striker) - Pashter United > Athens Town (Civil Citizenry) - Undisclosed fee
In one of the most surprising transfers of the summer, young up and coming striker Xavier - valued at £15m - left for the shores of Civil Citizenry. Athens Town will be glad to have him working in conjunction with Alessandro Mettis, and Pashter United will be able to use the probably large fee to soften their fall into the second tier of FSSO football.

Keiron Kane (21, FSSO, Right Winger) - New Harkdown > Revolutionaries - £17m
Wonderkid and counterpart of Xavier, Keiron Kane is a hot prospect in the future of FSSO football. But it seems that he had outgrown New Harkdown, and much to their dissapointment they couldn't hold onto him for any longer. But both sides got something from this deal; Harkdown got a decent deal for his services and Revolutionaries now have a potent danger on the winger to feed Eskyama and Yohannes, and get goals himself.

Brian Roberts (28, South Eura, Centre Forward) - Usmer > Astria Yaburi (Erathore) - £10m
The powerful but demanding centre forward just wouldn't put up with the declining fortunes of former high flyers Usmer, and moved abroad to Erathore. This is going to leave Usmer without their primary goal threat, making relegation a serious possibility this season. At the same time, Roberts will deliver a physical style of play that some in Erathore say is nessecary as well as the usual flamboyant and skillful Erathore style.

Dalton Bradshaw-Laughton (30, CC, Centre Midfielder) - Resolute Storm FC (Polar Island States) > Sparta FC - £6.5m
Some say Sparta FC have been lacking a tough midfielder to hold things together in the middle for Sparta FC, where too often they are undone by superior teams. Laughton will bring a commanding precense to the Sparta FC midfield and is also a potent goal threat - they'll be hoping he can propell them to the top this season.

Julesk Paranaya (27, FSSO, Centre Defensive Midfielder/Centre Back) - Usmer > Bugny FC - £7m
Another Usmer expat, Paranaya is becoming an FSSO first team regular and needed to escape Usmer as they spiral down the table. Stating his interest in leaving as early as mid season, he has been unsettled for some time and will be a welcome addition to Bugny FC as they attempt to shore up their defence.

Paul Fessner (24, FSSO, Striker) - West End Athletic > Directus - £6.7m
Fessner scored sixteen goals last season and constantly terrorised defences with his dribbling skills. Directus needed a capable partner for Mericci up front and he is the ideal player. Hopefully this transfer will also put some sense into the FSSO selectors, who have as of yet never called up this still young star.

Guy Stamp (22, Kytler Peninsulae, Centre Forward) - Southill Rovers > Honeybadgers - £3.5m
Stamp may have fallen out of favour with the Kytler national squad but at club level he's showed lots of promise - and Honeybadgers manager Tom Crawley has shown faith in him by digging out £3.5m for his services. He'll be hoping to impress as Honeybadgers surprised everyone by finishing sixth last season.

Ben Quinn (25, FSSO, Left Forward) - Ulsa > Monrbenoit (Saugeais) - £3m
Ben Quinn's career has been a mixed bag. Injuries and failing to meet expectations for the FSSO national side have marred his succesful domestic career. However last season was less succesful, as he only recorded 7 of Ulsa's 66 league goals. However, Quinn was once again held back by injury and is hoping this move will revive his career. But he will remain fond of his time in his home country, where he has scored 70 league goals in six seasons.

Clive Mallardino (21, Sorthern Northland, Centre Midfielder) - Sparrowbottom Atletic > Revolutionaries - £1.093m, two packets of Bombay Mix and four bottles of Fallourian Banger Whiskey
Apart from the purchase of Kane, Revolutionaries have had a somewhat strangely quiet transfer window for high flying Revolutionaries, the purchase of Mallardino was a bargain. The Sorthern player, a non league player only several years ago, burst onto the club scene and will hope to bolster the increasingly strong Revolutionaries.

Craig Castleton (29, FSSO, Goalkeeper) - Pashter United > Ulsa - £1.9m
A buy made early on in the window, Ulsa bought this solid keeper from relegated Pashter to shore up their defence. This is following their expensive goals conceded record last season.

Antonio Marino (23, Erathore, Goalkeeper) - Usmer > Sparta FC - £3.0m
This young goalkeeper was one of the few factors that kept Usmer in the Gold League last year, and his departure could be the death knell for the former giants. Marino moves to Sparta FC, who have needed a decent keeper for a while.

Luther van Ferris (29, Valladares, Centre Midfielder) - Ulsa Rovers > Ulsa - £1.7m
The solid central midfielder moves to Ulsa after one season at the now relegated Ulsa Rovers.

Transfers, transfers, transfers!

It's been a busy last few weeks in the transfer window ahead of this season. Here is the Emplor's analysis of the key moves:

THE BIG TRANSFER

Sam Needle (25, FSSO, Striker) - Bastion > Dunboor FC (Cafendu) - £27m
After scoring a record 36 league goals for Baston last season, scouts from foreign clubs swarmed into FSSO to pick up on Needle - this is understandable after many foreign clubs missed the boat on Lee Sharp. Dunboor FC, a big Cafendu club with fading fortunes, decided to splash the cash for Needle to try turn their fortunes around. Hopefully it will work, and Bastion will have to fill the goalscoring gap.

OTHER TRANSFERS

Lee Sharp (28, FSSO, Striker) - Briarmore FC (Civil Citizenry) > CR Submira (Cafendu) - Free Transfer
Flailing Briarmore will be kicking themselves after missing out on a hefty transfer fee, as FSSO star man Lee Sharp moves to Cafendu club CR Submira on a free transfer.

Nicky Martin (21, FSSO, Striker) - Lajuno > Ulsa - £8m
Young, clinical striker Nicky Martin (who scored 21 goals last season) has been brought in by Ulsa to solve their goalscoring issues.

Jim Cotterill (21, FSSO, Attacking Midfielder) - Callodown Rovers > Bastion - £5.6m
Free scoring playmaker Cotterill transfers from relegated Callodown Rovers to giants Bastion, who require creativity in midfield.

Michelangelo De Merrici (31, Erathore, Striker) - Directus > FC Mildrid (Erathore) - Undisclosed fee
Fading striker Merrici, who was so brilliant when he came to FSSO, returns to his home country.

Djorou Calaga (21, FSSO, Defender/Defensive Midfielder) - Dashturnbein > Sparta FC - £3m
Diligent midfielder Calaga switches to champions Sparta FC after Dashturnbein plummet into the Silver League.

Stan Champion (25, FSSO, Central Midfielder) - Usmer > Dudsbury - £3m
Dudsbury strengthen their newly promoted squad with powerful midfielder Champion.

Bastion hand wonderkid Oslograd pro contract and loan him to Hornchurch

Bastion's young wonderkid Skorji Oslograd, labelled the next Lee Sharp, has signed professional terms at Bastion. The youngster (who's name comes from his parents Polarphilic tendencies), is 17 years old and is likely to make his debut next season. Oslograd, who is expected to represent the FSSO at the next Di Bradini Cup, said he was 'delighted' to agree terms. He has gone on loan to Hornchurch with immediate effect.

Ulsa win race for Dawson

Marketville revelation Clive Dawson has finally left the relegated club; for a £10m fee as he moves on to Ulsa. Ulsa, who need a supporting midfielder who can not only feed Nicky Martin but score bucketloads of goals, have picked the perfect player who burst into the FSSO team with two fantastic seasons for Marketville, despite relegation in the second.

Culpapy offload Bardson for £4m

Culpapy United surprised many this transfer window by offloading Dave Bardson to Swartaz side Vasteras IK, despite the 27 year old centre forward scoring 14 goals in the Gold League last season.

Stona United offload Spider and Kerr

Relegated Stona United have been forced to offload experienced striker Robert Spider and young international FSSO defender Nicholas Kerr. Spider has been sold to Culpapy United for £2.5m whilst Kerr moves to Farrenton Athletic for £3m.

Dudsbury fail to keep Champion

Dudsbury central midfielder Stan Champion has left the club on a free transfer and signed for newly promoted Holdenberg.

Farrenton swoop for Aelsh pair and Knowles

Farrenton Athletic have secured the signings of two Aelsh youngsters to help the fallen giant revive themselves as they return to the Gold League. 19 year old Rhodri Evans is a central midfielder signed from Doverston. The other signing is hot prospect Bryn Thomas, a 20 year old inside forward from Pentref-ar-y-Bae. They also got left midfielder Sammy Knowles on the cheap (only £1.5m) from Marketville.

Holdenberg secure dos Santos services

Holdenberg have secured Swartaz striker Jonny dos Santos for £1m from Vaastrada. The 20 year old striker will hope to help Holdenberg survive their return to the Gold League.

Sameba's Carter off to Swartaz

22 year old FSSO right back has left Sameba for Swartaz side Jasmuur Ospreys, a mid table top tier team who will hope to use the promising right back as a catalyst for success. Sameba meanwhile look destined for a tough fight against relegation.

IFK Goteborg's Jouberg makes St Peters move

St Peters have brought in 19 year old central attacking midfielder Kimi Jouberg from IFK Goteborg for an undisclosed fee.

The Gold League Prediction Challenge with Clint Covey

As we approach another Gold League season living another fantastic one in our wake, the time has come to begin predicting how various teams will fare this season. The last few years have been particularly exciting as the Bastion/Directus decade long period of domination ended with a series of close run campaigns, one of which was won by Sparta FC - and this season looks to be similar, with title holders Directus by no means outright favourites.

AFC Mayville
Finishing position last season: 10th
Manager: Brezovan Wallace
Key Players: Chad Parsons, Colin Nelson

AFC Mayville have secured their place in the Gold League for now with two consecutive mid table finishes after promotion, however they will be worried that both times they have started the season well then faltered later on. Chad Parsons will hope to break the 15 goal mark for a 3rd season in a row but if he gets injured or loses form Mayville could drop into the relegation battle.

Predicted finish this season: 13th

Bastion
Finishing position last season: 6th
Manager: Louis Williamson (New Hackney)
Key Players: Mike Humphrey, Joe Arne Pizza, Recobo, Carlos Aduna, Persa Ryans, Buschak Dassuna, Geoff Day, Jim Cotterill, Filip Samuel, Sebastien Wilfstrand

Bastion failed to adapt to life without Sam Needle last season, which hampered their recovery after a poor season beforehand meaning they could only finish 6th. Their decievingly strong team will hope to prove their doubters wrong this season and I fully expect them to make a push for the top 4 - but doubt they have the consistency to pull it off. Expect them to make a move for Chad Parsons next summer.

Predicted finish this season: 5th

Culpapy United
Finishing position last season: 14th
Manager: Neil Knowles
Key Players: Rob Spider, Andy Wilk, Mickey Smith

Culpapy United's revival has been well documented and marked as one of the true success stories of Euran football. Only 8 years after nearly being liquidated, the club that produced Lee Sharp has returned to the Gold League - this time with a solid financial base and a strong team. Although they lost Dave Bardson in the summer Rob Spider has been brought in as a source of regular goals, and Andy Wilk and Mickey Smith should give Neil Knowles side the edge they need to finish in the top half.

Predicted finish this season: 10th

Dartmoor
Finishing position last season: 12th
Manager: (Vacant)
Key Players: Ender Wiggin, Eye Barsa

Ender Wiggin was a breath of fresh air for the declining Dartmoor last season, and the strangely named 21 year old New Hackneyian Eye Barsa looks full of promise. However, Dartmoor have lost their manager to underachieving Honeybadgers (somehow) and could struggle this season.

Predicted finish this season: 14th

Directus
Finishing position last season: 1st
Manager: David Spearman
Key Players: James McCroft, Dennis Arnold, Daniel Belgrave, Mayano Salono, Paul Fessner, Michael Robertson, Tom Riley, Bill Riley, Petter Vertinskay

Directus have managed to win two titles in the last five seasons, and will certainly do well this season. Youth products such as the Riley brothers and Michael Robertson, and genius buy Paul Fessner, have proved to be inspired choices by the unflappable David Spearman. Daniel Belgrave remains the best goalkeeper in the country and the McCroft/Arnold right side pairing remains formidable. However, Directus have been riding their luck a bit and Sparta FC and Revolutionaries can be expected to pick up their form this season.

Predicted finish this season: 2nd

Farrenton Athletic
Finishing position last season: 1st in the Silver League
Manager: Rob Jovinsky
Key Players: Rhodri Evans, Nicholas Kerr, Bryn Thomas, Sammy Knowles

So, they're back. Several seasons after their great cash splashing experiment failed in spectacular fashion, Farrenton Athletic return to the Gold League. With a strong but not foolhardy financial strategy Farrenton look like the most able of the promoted sides to stay up. They made two smart purchases in securing young Aelsh talents Rhodri Evans and Bryn Thomas, whilst bringing in good young FSSO players with Gold League experience in Nicholas Kerr and Sammy Knowles.

Predicted finish this season: 15th

Holdenberg
Finishing position last season: 2nd in the Silver League
Manager: Adam Jones
Key Players: Jonny dos Santos, Stan Champion, Odvlek Cario

Newly promoted Holdenberg will relish the chance to play their rivals Holdenberg City for the first time in the league for years. Although their team is by no means the strongest, Stan Champion will bring much needed structure to the midfield, Sameban defender Odvlek Cario will dominate the defence and young Swartaz striker Jonny dos Santos should provide some goals for the newly promoted side. They seem strong enough to stay up but will have to avoid injuries.

Predicted finish this season: 17th

Holdenberg City
Finishing position last season: 9th
Manager: Alain Letetre (Cotadelpoms)
Key Players: Pola Grabnyak, Joan Cruft

Alain Letetre of Cotadelploms worked wonders with Holdenberg City last season, largely thanks to the efforts of New Hackneyian sensation Pola Grabnyak. With his 23 league goals, the International Player of the Season and Player of the Season helped Holdenberg City to finish an unexpected 9th. However they did not build on this success over the summer, although they have secured a professional contract for home grown prospect Joan Cruft. If Grabnyak misses a single game, they will struggle.

Predicted finish this season: 9th

Honeybadgers
Finishing position last season: 15th
Manager: Wesley Adams
Key Players: Guy Stamp, Rick Connors, Steven Marshall, Eduardo Prost

Honeybadgers underachieved last season despite having Guy Stamp back from a series of injuries the year before. Without his 16 goals, they almost certainly would have been relegated. However, I think good times are on the horizon for Honeybadgers who reinforced the side in the summer and got hold of 20 year old midfield prospect Steven Marshall from Thagarnia.

Predicted finish this season: 12th

Hornchurch
Finishing position last season: 7th
Manager: Seb Watley
Key Players: Graham Hill, Carl Coffa, Nick Feeney, Skorji Oslograd (LOAN)

You have to wonder when the Hornchurch bubble is going to burst - the financially insecure Hornchurch have ridden their luck over the last few seasons securing a number of good finishes, and even qualifed for UICA competition. Graham Hill is getting too old to go on now and will retire at the end of this season, and Nick Feeney will surely leave for a bigger club, leaving the only conclusion in this reporters mind to be as follows; the bubble will burst soon. Perhaps what might keep Hornchurch going a little longer is Bastion wonderkid Skorji Oslograd. The 17 year old, on a season long loan, is already being called the new Lee Sharp.

Predicted finish this season: 8th

Lajuno
Finishing position last season: 13th
Manager: Mikelatz Mendialde (Astograth)
Key Players: Mario Mikkenen, Conway Carlton

Lajuno finished 2nd the season before last - they must be wondering where it all went wrong. After now Falourr manager Clive Kent was sacked unceremoniously for Lajuno's failure to build on their surprise success, 63 year old Mikelatz Mendialde from Astograth has come in to manage Lajuno through what could be a tough period. Mendialde's defensive strategy could be key to keeping Lajuno away from the relegation battle.

Predicted finish this season: 16th

New Harkdown
Finishing position last season: 5th
Manager: Hamilton Le'Arse
Key Players: Ross Browning, Lewis Moore

New Harkdown finished impressively last season in an unusually high position at 5th, only just missing out on UICA qualification. One has to feel they need new blood in to replace Ross Browning and will not replicate last seasons performances this time round, but they should find themselves comfortably in the top half by the end of the season.

Predicted finish this season: 6th

Revolutionaries
Finishing position last season: 4th
Manager: Michael Brand
Key Players: Keiron Kane, Clevon Drago, Mikael Johannes, Clive Mallardino, Ascot Sanders, Colin Collymore

Three top four finishes in the last four seasons has been seen as a major reversal of fortunes for Revolutionaries, one of the FSSO's better clubs seemingly fading away after their infamous "Dodger Season" where manager Mark Dodger saw them fall to a lowly 16th place finish. They finished 4th last year and 6th the year before that - dissapointing after previously missing out on the title in Bastion on the final match day - but you have to feel things are looking up for them despite the revival of Ulsa. I think with their squad, despite Clevon Drago nearing the end of his career, should finish 3rd.

Predicted finish this season: 3rd

Sameba
Finishing position last season: 11th
Manager: Calvin Mack
Key Players: Hamilton Robery, Nile Samson

'Boring' Sameba once again limped to a mid table finish last season and look set to do so again, although the loss of Jay Carter may make things more difficult. I think Sameba will have issues once Hamilton Robery inevitably moves on though.

Predicted finish this season: 11th

Sparta FC
Finishing position last season: 3rd
Manager: Clark Robinson
Key Players: Seryou Kobe, Marseto Silvia, Josh Stevenson, Antonio Marino, Dalton Bradshaw-Laughton, Sam Thomas, Djourou Calaga, Mikhael van Germ

Sparta FC were favourites to win a consecutive Gold League title last year but a bit docile towards the end of the season and only managed 3rd. However, they remain a very strong side and with their deadly front three they should capitalise on Directus' weaknesses to win the title for the second time in three years. However, Sam Thomas will have to produce the goods this time to compete with Paul Fessner.

Predicted finish this season: 1st

St Peters
Finishing position last season: 3rd in Silver League
Manager: Ricky West
Key Players: Kimi Houberg

St Peters have made an astute signing in Kimi Houberg, but they lost their two best players to retirement in the summer and this small club have only made one signing - Houberg. Easily the weakest of the three teams to come up, I fully expect them to go straight back down in a similar manner to Dashturnbein.

Predicted finish this season: 20th

Ulsa
Finishing position last season: 2nd
Manager: Albert Osman
Key Players: Grant Davis, Steven Thompson, Jonathan Steele, Cornelius Barnes, Craig Castleton, Luther Van Ferris, Nicky Martin, Clive Dawson

Albert Osman has really uplifted Ulsa after a few tough seasons, taking them to a narrow 2nd last season, losing the title race only on goal difference. The rebirth cannot stop here though; with Grant David, Steve Thompson, Cornelius Barnes, Craig Castleton and Luther Van Ferris all into their thirties, they have to continue building their squad so their progress is sustainable. Although I doubt they will achieve what they did last season again this season, the purchase of Clive Dawson and influx of capital from their owners should ensure a top 4 finish although Bastion will be on their tails.

Predicted finish this season: 4th

Ulsa Rovers
Finishing position last season: 17th
Manager: Simon Hobart
Key Players: Jay Morrison

Ulsa Rovers have had a few close calls with relegation since they came up from the Silver League, escaping narrowly on goal difference last year as Marketville went down. However, I think it will be too much for them this year as their squad is very weak, with Jay Morrison being their only real quality player.

Predicted finish this season: 19th

West End Athletic
Finishing position last season: 16th
Manager: Vacant
Key Players: Luke Bluewater, Lewis Calvaclade

I think it's obvious that West End will struggle again this season. They don't have any real quality in their side beside Bluewater and Calvaclade. WEA and Ulsa Rovers will be replaced by Farrenton Athletic and Holdenberg.

Predicted finish this season: 18th

Workers Union
Finishing position last season: 8th
Manager: Frank Cole
Key Players: Rich Foley, Nick Hamill, Lyle Heath

Workers Union have become a regular fixture in the Gold League, and look set to remain so. With a strong team they will be looking for another top half finish this season, and FSSO U18 international Lyle Heath will hope to get his first proper season in the first team after debuting as a 17 year old last season.

Predicted finish this season: 7th

Transfers: A summer of returning to the nest and team expansion

By Clint Covey

The transfers that have taken place this summer were, I think it's safe to say, numerous and very exciting. Let's adress the big ones first:

SIMON XAVIER RETURNS HOME
Simon Xavier (24, ST, FSSO) - Athens Town > Revolutionaries
Eamon Power (20, CB, Ancharmunn) - Ballymaired Town > Revolutionaries
Ross Ramsden (24, GK, Liventia) - Orean United > Revolutionaries

Remember Simon Xavier? It's safe to say that after four seasons in Civil Citizenry, he's become almost a bit forgotten in the FSSO - especially when you consider that he is finding it difficult to break into the national team. When he moved to Athens Town for £10m from relegated Pashter United, who now languish in the Bronze League, he had just hit 24 goals in one season at only 21 years old and was tipped to be the next big thing up front for the FSSO. He has a good record; 20 goals in 42 caps, but has struggled to get past the fearsome pair of Lee Sharp and Sam Needle, even though Sharp has now started picking up more injuries with age.

This is mainly because of more recent competition from other strikers such as Paul Fessner, Sam Thomas, and Chad Parsons, whilst his childhood friend and FSSO team mate Kieran Kane is often played up front. However with 61 goals in 125 King's League games for Citiz side Athens, and one King's League title to his name, Xavier has gained much needed experience and makes this move to Revolutionaries who need someone to fill the gap that will be left soon by Clevon Drago with his inevitable retirement. This isn't the only clever signing that has been made by Revolutionaries. They beat a reported eight clubs from different countries to the signing of Ancharmunn youngster Eamon Power, 20, from Ballymaired Town for an undisclosed fee in the hope of tightening up their defence. They also adressed their goalkeeper issue, signing Liventian goalkeeper Ross Ramsden.

Former Usmer captain Paranaya heads to Directus
Julesk Paranaya (30, CB/CDM, FSSO) - Bugny FC > Directus

Julesk Paranaya's move to Bugny FC in Saugeais three years ago revived his career after Usmer plummeted into the Silver League, and Paranaya is now a regular starter for the FSSO. He now returns to his home country at the age of 30, heading to Directus where he came through the youth system. Paranaya's solid defensive work and goal threat from set pieces will be vital for Directus as they aim to challenge for the title again.

Ulsa splash out for first Aguazul player in FSSO, Nolasco
Paco León Nolasco (26, CM/RM, Aguazul) – Ojedo Cerro > Ulsa
Andy Davis (23, CB, Liventia) – Neverend Utd > Ulsa

Paco Leon Nolasco is a capable 26 year old midfielder from Aguazul based team Ojedo Cerro. Considered a coup for Ulsa, who reportedly spent into the double figures to secure this signature, Nolasco is a highly capable player who is expected to replace some of Ulsa's ageing players and become their leader of the future after Steve Thompson is gone. Additionally they have signed solid 23 year old centre back Andy Davis from Neverend Utd in Liventia.

Lajuno's Astograthian revolution continues
Intza Basurto (32, ST, Astograth) – Blue Mountain Range > Lajuno
Erlantz Izagirre (31, RB, Astograth) - Urbizania Wanderers > Lajuno
Loren Arambel (21, GK, Astograth) - Ituraitz Victory > Lajuno

Lajuno's Astograthian manager Mikelatz Mendialde has brought in some experienced and potentially world beating talent in the hope that he can revive the fortunes of the club. After finishing a safe 13th and keeping Conway Carlton and Mario Mikkenen, Lajuno have begun to build. Promising youngsters Alan Fotheringham and Craig Harper are now being phased into the squad and experienced forward Intza Basruto has been brought in from Blue Mountain Range. The 32 year old won a league and two cups at Ituraitz FC before moving to BMR and then on to Lajuno. Erlantz Izagirre and Loren Arambel have also been brought in from the managers mother country to solidy the defence and push for a top half finish.

Daley back in the FSSO at Falourr as promoted sides build
Scott Daley (32, CF, FSSO) - Edmonton United > Falourr
Aidan Jones (22, LW, FSSO) – Real Oakwood > Falourr
Kimi Houberg (20, CAM, Swartaz) – St Peters > Marketville
Volk Savanev (25, ST, New Hackney) – Rivet > Marketville
James Clarke (20, CF, Liventia) – Orean United > Thagarnia

32 year old FSSO forward Scott Daley has made the move from Edmonton United to newly promoted Falourr as he plans to see out his career in the homeland after signing a three year contract. The 6"7 giant, who has a good record in both the FSSO and Valladares and 38 goals for his country, will be a massive boost to a team who have been knocking on the door of the Gold League for a decade. They have also secured young talent Aidan Jones from Real Oakwood for a reported fee of £1.4m. Meanwhile, rebounding Marketville (who were relegated the season before last) have invested in relegated St Peters prospect Kimi Houberg, who is from Swartaz, and New Hackneyian striker Volk Savanev from Rivet in Sameba - no doubt they wish to replicate the success of Pola Grabnyak. Thagarnia have strengthened the least, bringing in young Liventian striker James Clarke.

Sparta FC secure promising Liventian
George Bowler (26, CB, Liventia) – Mountain FC > Sparta FC

Sparta FC have beaten rivals Ulsa to the purchase of Liventian defender George Bowler. The 26 year old, who has been tipped for great things, will now be a staple part of their defence.

Relegated Sameba and West End Athletic suffer exodus
Lewis Calvacade (32, GK, FSSO) – West End Athletic > Farrenton Athletic
Luke Bluewater (30, CF, FSSO) – West End Athletic > Hornchurch
Hamilton Robery (31, RW, Sameba) – Sameba > AFC Mayville
Simon Rose, (26, CB, FSSO) – Arrowsmith > New Harkdown
Nile Samson (CM, 20, FSSO) – Sameba > Culpapy United
Sebastien Hamilton (23, CB, Sameba) – Usmer > Holdenberg City

Dartmoor appoint Andrew as manager

Former Ancharmunn national team manager Paul Andrew has been appointed manager by Dartmoor. Dartmoor, who finished 7th despite not having a manager last season, have exceeded expectations to recover from a slump and expect to challenge the "Big Five" with Andrew at the helm. Andrew has said that he is delighted to make the move and hopes to achieve great success with Dartmoor.

The Gold League Prediction Challenge with Clint Covey

Last years Gold League season was superb. A thrilling title race ended with Revolutionaries pipping an overachieving Bastion side to the title. Sparta FC finished a dissapointing 5th while Ulsa and Directus took 3rd and 4th respectively. A weakened West End Athletic and a Sameba FC side wrapped in contoversy slipped to relegation as a fortunate AFC Mayville lived to fight another day, and St Peters plummeted back down into the Silver League with an all time low Gold League points tally of 9, winning only 1 game all season. With the aforementioned transfer activity, it's hard to tell who will go down and who will win the title this season. Who will perform well and who will fail this year.

AFC Mayville
Finishing position last season: 17th
Manager: Brezovan Wallace
Key Players: Andy Quinn, Chad Parsons, Hamilton Robery, Colin Nelson
Stadium: Langham Stadium (Mayville, 31,548)
Sponsor: ! Trains and Trams (Virabia)

AFC Mayville were exposed in their last season as they began to struggle when Chad Parsons did not play every game. However a weaker bottom three allowed them to stay up and they somehow kept hold of Parsons while expanding to bring in experienced attacker Hamilton Robery. Will probably be safe again this season.

Predicted finish this season: 15th

Bastion
Finishing position last season: 2nd
Manager: Louis Williamson (New Hackney)
Key Players: Jerry Watchman, Mike Humphrey, Buschak Dassuna, Joe Arne Pizza, Sebastien Wilfstrand, Persa Ryans, Carlos Aduna, Jim Cotterill, Geoff Day, Recobo, Skorji Oslograd
Stadium: Bastion Arena (Bastion, 98,000)
Sponsor: Aloha Airlines (Virabia)

Bastion exceeded expectations to finish 2nd last season and look to have finally found the right mix of defence and attack, but have no strengthened this summer where Revolutionaries, Ulsa and Directus have. 4th will be their minimum target.

Predicted finish this season: 4th

Culpapy United
Finishing position last season: 12th
Manager: Neil Knowles
Key Players: Mickey Smith, Nile Samson, Andy Wilk, Rob Spider
Stadium: Weedon Bridge (Culpapy, 17,860)
Sponsor: Hails Beer

Culpapy United enjoyed another season in the Gold League and have maintained their squad over the summer, and will hope to survive another season in the top flight.

Predicted finish this season: 13th

Dartmoor
Finishing position last season: 7th
Manager: Paul Andrew (Ancharmunn)
Key Players: Revy Collison, Fernando Valdez, Eye Barsa, Ender Wiggin
Stadium: Plains Arena (Dartmoor, 35,930)
Sponsor: SWest Airlines

After the astute signing of new manager Paul Andrew and defender Fernando Valdez, Dartmoor look set to further push towards the Big Five after holding on to star player Ender Wiggin.

Predicted finish this season: 8th

Directus
Finishing position last season: 4th
Manager: David Spearman
Key Players: Daniel Belgrave, Dennis Arnold, Julesk Paranaya, Michael Robertson, Bill Riley, James McCroft, Tom Riley, Peter Vertinskay, Mayano Salono, Paul Fessner
Stadium: Castle Road (Directus, 59,684)
Sponsor: AalborgPettersen Insurance (Polar Islandstates)

After slipping to a disappointing 4th last season, Directus will be determined to avenge the loss of their title to Revolutionaries and they brought in Julesk Paranaya to fill the final gap in their squad. This isn’t, however, likely to be their season.

Predicted finish this season: 2nd

Falourr
Finishing position last season: 1st in Silver League
Manager: Calvin Mack (Sameba)
Key Players: Nile Valun, Aidan Jones, Scott Daley
Stadium: Hawking Corner (Falourr, 28,599)
Sponsor: Falourr Banger Whiskey

Falourr are a newly promoted side who have been knocking on the door of the top flight for years. With substantial funding from ChocoMilk behind them, and the clever signing of experienced forward Scott Daley and former Sameba FC manager Calvin Mack, it’s hard to see them going down straight off the bat.

Predicted finish this season: 16th

Farrenton Athletic
Finishing position last season: 15th
Manager: Rob Jovinsky
Key Players: Lewis Calvalcade, Nicholas Kerr, Rhodri Evans, Sammy Knowles, Bryn Thomas
Stadium: Stadion Pignorant (Farrenton, 55,003)
Sponsor: Rabarra Weapons System

Farrenton made a mistake in not strengthening much in the summer, but are a big club with a decent squad and should stay out of the relegation battle.

Predicted finish this season: 14th

Holdenberg
Finishing position last season: 2nd in the Silver League
Manager: Adam Jones
Key Players: Odvlek Cario, Jonny dos Santos, Stan Champion
Stadium: Benedict Lane (Holdenberg, 35,822)
Sponsor: Titanica Ferries

Holdenberg made a great effort last season to reach 10th, close behind rivals Holdenberg City, however they did not add to their squad over the summer and sponsor Titanica Ferries faces criminal charges so money is short. Expect them to be in the relegation scrap this time.

Predicted finish this season: 17th

Holdenberg City
Finishing position last season: 9th
Manager: Alain Letetre (Cotadelpoms)
Key Players: Sebastien Hamilton, Joan Cruft, Pola Grabnyak
Stadium: Hafran Lane (Holdenberg, 41,011)
Sponsor: Harther Steel

They finished above their rivals and secured 9th for the second season in a row. All good, surely? Not quite. Pola Grabnyak has stayed, for now, but retaining him for longer could be extremely difficult. They need to finish in the top 7 but might just run out of steam.

Predicted finish this season: 10th

Honeybadgers
Finishing position last season: 6th
Manager: Wesley Adams
Key Players: Rick Connors, Eduardo Prost, Steven Marshall, Neil Cole, Guy Stamp
Stadium: The Hive (Directus, 34,303)
Sponsor: Naveux-Tradeu Enterprises (Karditan)

Honeybadgers continue to confound the critics with a solid team led by Kytler’s 20 goal a season star Guy Stamp. This season the rise of Lajuno may make it a bit difficult for them to finish so high, but they will certainly be competitive.

Predicted finish this season: 7th

Hornchurch
Finishing position last season: 11th
Manager: Seb Watley
Key Players: Nick Feeney, Carl Coffa, Luke Bluewater
Stadium: Walter Avenue (Hornchurch, 32,203)
Sponsors: HawtCorp

Despite securing Luke Bluewater in the summer, Hornchurch appear to be on the slide. Expect an uninspiring mid table finish.

Predicted finish this season: 11th

Lajuno
Finishing position last season: 13th
Manager: Mikelatz Mendialde (Astograth)
Key Players: Loren Arambel, Erlantz Izagirre, Mario Mikkenen, Alan Fotheringham, Conway Carlton, Craig Harper, Intza Basurto
Stadium: Lansbury Road (Lajuno, 38,390)
Sponsor: InterCity Rail (Civil Citizenry/FSSO)

Lajuno’s Astograthian Revolution continues with the latest signings of Mikelatz Mendialde, who has arrested Lajuno’s slide and made them much stronger in the process. It would be highly surprising if they did not challenge the Big Five again this year.

Predicted finish this season: 6th

Marketville
Finishing position last season: 2nd in Silver League
Manager: Bonitan Carson
Key Players: Ashley O’Brien, Kimi Houberg, Volk Savanev
Stadium: Marketville Athletics Venue (Marketville, 25,693)
Sponsor: Terryandjune Enterprises

Marketville return to the Gold League a much weaker side. Having somehow earned promotion last season they waltz into the league making three decent signings, with Volk Savanev appearing to be a particularly good one, but it seems unlikely they will stay up this season.

Predicted finish this season: 18th

New Harkdown
Finishing position last season: 8th
Manager: Hamilton Le’Arse
Key Players: Simon Rose, Richard Lockhart, Ross Browning, Lewis Moore
Stadium: OpTiiK IT Sports Arena (Harkdown, 40,430)
Sponsor: OpTiiK

New Harkdown overachieved yet again last season, yet they have only strengthened with mediocre players and appear to be slipping down the table. They should finish mid table but are not too far away from near the bottom.

Predicted finish this season: 12th

Revolutionaries
Finishing position last season: 1st
Manager: Michael Brand
Key Players: Ross Ramsden, Eamon Power, Colin Collymore, Kieran Kane, Clive Mallardino, Mikhael Johannes, Ascot Sanders, Clevon Drago, Simon Xavier
Stadium: Sasky Rising Memorial Stadium (Brigham, 68,949)
Sponsors: Mansley Systems

Whilst local rivals Brigham try to work their way out of the lower leagues, Revolutionaries have stormed to their first title in a long time and have done what teams rarely seem to do in this scenario; built on it. They’ve aquired Ross Ramsden, Eamon Power and Simon Xavier, giving them the power to go and win the title again. Michael Brand really deserves all the plaudits coming his way.

Predicted finish this season: 1st

Sparta FC
Finishing position last season: 5th
Manager: Clark Robinson
Key Players: Antonio Marino, George Bowler, Djourou Calaga, Mikhael van Germ, Iulian Sandquist, Dalton Bradshaw Laughton, Josh Stevenson, Seryou Kobe, Sam Thomas, Marseto Silvia
Stadium: Spartangrad Olympic Stadium (Spartangrad, 75,520)
Sponsors: Polair (Polar Islandstates)

Sparta FC had a disappointing season, finishing 5th after an impressive turnout by the rest of the Big Five. They have done little in the transfer market other than secure George Bowler and will have to watch their back for challengers to the Big Five, so I expect them to retain 5th position for now.

Predicted finish this season: 5th

Thagarnia
Finishing position last season: 3rd in Silver League
Manager: Ashley Parkinson
Key Players: Martin Smith, Fashek Currov, James Clarke
Stadium: Thagarnia Bowl (Thagarnia, 30,000)
Sponsors: Difergoles (Aguazul)

Thagarnia are a side who have been in the Gold League before, but have had fairly up and down fortunes in their history. Unlikely to make an impact with a poor squad. Will probably go down.

Predicted finish this season: 19th

Ulsa
Finishing position last season: 3rd
Manager: Albert Osman
Key Players: Craig Castleton, Grant Davis, Andy Davis, Cornelius Barnes, Paco Leon Nolasco, Steven Thompson, Luther van Ferris, Clive Dawson, Jonathan Steele, Nicky Martin
Stadium: Troutbridge Stadium (Ulsa, 62,199)
Sponsors: ChocoMilk (Civil Citizenry)

Ulsa have made two good signings in the summer but done little else and will probably finish a solid 3rd.

Predicted finish this season: 3rd

Ulsa Rovers
Finishing position last season: 16th
Manager: Simon Hobart
Key Players: Jay Morrison, Harvey Dexter, Liam Carling
Stadium: Rovers Retreat (Ulsa, 28,920)
Sponsors: Casper Insurance National

Ulsa Rovers have a skeleton squad at best with only two decent players in Jay Morrison and Harvey Dexter. Financial issues have lead to their sponsor threatening to pull out and they only have one striker on the books – untested youth striker Liam Carling, 18 years old. Doomed.

Predicted finish this season: 20th

Workers Union
Finishing position last season: 14th
Manager: Frank Cole
Key Players: Lyle Heath, Nick Hamill, Rich Foley
Stadium: Workers Athletic Achievement Stadia for Make Benefit of People (Callodown, 30,000)
Sponsor: West Euran Steel and Coal Union Conglomerate (WESCUC)

Workers Union were very disappointing last season, finishing 14th after being tipped for a top table finish, and failed to add to their squad this summer. However, it is expected that they will make mid table.

Predicted finish this season: 9th

Managerial changes

Simon Hobart (FSSO) - Ulsa Rovers > Brigham

Michael Hamlet (FSSO) - Royals Athletic > Arrowsmith

FSSOFA Gold League Pre-Season Analysis

AFC Mayville
Manager: Brezovan Wallace
Key Players: Andy Quinn, Chad Parsons, Hamilton Robery, Colin Nelson
Stadium: Langham Stadium (Mayville, 31,548)
Sponsor: ! Trains and Trams (Virabia)

A miraculous second half of the season recovery from near the foot of the table for AFC Mayville earned them a solid 11th place finish, keeping Chad Parsons in the side for at least one more season. The birds will begin to circle when his contract runs out next summer though, as the case of Pola Grabnyak showed that safety and relative success does not make your players unturnable. They made no transfers in the summer, leaving them in a fairly stable condition.

Arrowsmith
Manager: Michael Hamlet
Key Players: Liam Carling
Stadium: Fishery Hill Stadium (Arrowsmith, 35,200)
Sponsor: Fadron Pizza (Taeshan)

Although they hired Michael Hamlet as manager in the summer and have brought in young striker Liam Carling, they face very little chance of staying up much like Dudsbury.

Bastion
Manager: Louis Williamson (New Hackney)
Key Players: Jerry Watchman, Mike Humphrey, Buschak Dassuna, Joe Arne Pizza, Sebastien Wilfstrand, Persa Ryans, Jim Cotterill, Geoff Day, Recobo, Skorji Oslograd
Stadium: Bastion Arena (Bastion, 98,000)
Sponsor: Aloha Airlines (Virabia)

Bastion finished poorly again last season, 5th in the league - a whole 21 points behind champions Revolutionaries. Despite this they have not strengthened in the summer, rather they have decided to offload the troubled Carlos Aduna to his hometown club Brigham for £6.1m. They probably underachieved last season though and will put up more of a challenge this season - if not, they certainly have the financial backing to splash out next summer. The post-Needle era has been difficult.

Brigham
Manager: Simon Hobart
Key Players: Martin Smith, Lucas Hammond, Carlos Aduna, Volk Savanev
Stadium: Old Ham Lane (Brigham, 47,290)
Sponsor: Kappa Kits n' Kicks (Virabia)

Brigham seem like the best of all the sides to come up this year. They finished 2nd coming up but have a more balanced squad than Dudsbury and Arrowsmith, and have clearly made better signings. They've brought in Simon Hobart from Ulsa Rovers as manager after their previous manager retired with promotion under his belt, and despite his teams fate last season Hobart is a good manager and will probably keep Brigham up. Signing Carlos Aduna was a massive coup for the club, while Mark Smith and Volk Savanev are both cheap but quality signings.

Culpapy United
Manager: Neil Knowles
Key Players: Mickey Smith, Nile Samson, Andy Wilk, Rob Spider
Stadium: Weedon Bridge (Culpapy, 30,000)
Sponsor: Hails Beer

Little change at Culpapy with only a few minor transfers going through, although their stadium has finally been expanded to be able to take just over 12,000 more fans on a match day. Lee Sharp commented last season how delighted he was at their establishment in the top flight; long may it continue, he'll be thinking!

Dartmoor
Manager: Paul Andrew (Ancharmunn)
Key Players: Revy Collison, Fernando Valdez, Eye Barsa, Ender Wiggin
Stadium: Plains Arena (Dartmoor, 35,930)
Sponsor: SWest Airlines

Despite the best efforts of Paul Andrew, Dartmoor had an alarming slump last season and finished 15th. Andrew has had little funds to strengthen in the summer, and he will undoubtably be under a lot of pressure this season.

Directus
Manager: David Spearman
Key Players: Daniel Belgrave, Dennis Arnold, Julesk Paranaya, Michael Robertson, Bill Riley, James McCroft, Tom Riley, Mayano Salono, Pola Grabnyak, Paul Fessner
Stadium: Castle Road (Directus, 59,684)
Sponsor: AalborgPettersen Insurance (Polar Islandstates)

Directus finished one place higher last season, but failed to launch a title challenge. However they have done a lot of good business in the summer by selling off Peter Vertinskay for a hefty £16m - and beat the rest of the Big Five to the lucrative signing of Pola Grabnyak for £24m. With Grabnyak up front alongside Paul Fessner, it has to be likely that they will at least challenge for the title this season.

Dudsbury
Manager: Donald Beeb
Key Players: Fashek Currov
Stadium: Lowland Gardens (Dudsbury, 31,300)
Sponsor: Difergoles (Aguazul)

Dudsbury are an even weaker promotee than they were a few years ago, and how they won the Silver League title is anyone's guess. Destined for the drop.

Falourr
Finishing position last season: 1st in Silver League
Manager: Calvin Mack (Sameba)
Key Players: Nile Valun, Aidan Jones, Harvey Dexter, Scott Daley
Stadium: Hawking Corner (Falourr, 28,599)
Sponsor: Falourr Banger Whiskey

Falourr were absolutely superb last season, storming to 7th in the league as a newly promoted side and securing the services of Harvey Dexter for an inexpensive £1.7m. Unlikely to repeat last season's finish again, especially after they just missed out on a shock transfer capture of Chad Parsons on the last day of the transfer window, but have a good chance of staying up.

Farrenton Athletic
Manager: Rob Jovinsky
Key Players: Lewis Calvalcade, Nicholas Kerr, Rhodri Evans, Sammy Knowles, Bryn Thomas
Stadium: Stadion Pignorant (Farrenton, 55,003)
Sponsor: Rabarra Weapons System

Farrenton once again avoided getting the wallet out in the summer, but should avoid any threat of relegation next season.

Holdenberg
Manager: Adam Jones
Key Players: Odvlek Cario, Stan Champion, Jonny dos Santos
Stadium: Benedict Lane (Holdenberg, 35,822)
Sponsor: Macrohard (Camwood)

Holdenberg once again managed to stay clear of the relegation battle despite their sponsor Titanica Ferries going bankrupt halfway through the season. Looking fairly safe now, but cannot get cocky after failing to strengthen.

Holdenberg City
Manager: Alain Letetre (Cotadelpoms)
Key Players: Sebastien Hamilton, Joan Cruft, Michael Cook
Stadium: Hafran Lane (Holdenberg, 41,011)
Sponsor: Harther Steel

Holdenberg City managed their target of a top half finish, but could not resist taking £21m from Directus for the services of Pola Grabnyak. Much to the anger of the fans this has been seemingly unused, with the only major signing with the profits being the £5m purchase of Camwood striker Michael Cook - a 30 year old with only one good season in his inferior domestic league. A controversial summer for City, and they will struggle this season.

Honeybadgers
Manager: Wesley Adams
Key Players: Rick Connors, Eduardo Prost, Ashley O'Brien, Steven Marshall, Neil Cole, Guy Stamp
Stadium: The Hive (Directus, 34,303)
Sponsor: Naveux-Tradeu Enterprises (Karditan)

This side slipped two places to 8th last season but have not suffered any major player losses in the summer, in fact they are stronger now after purchasing Marketville's Ashley O'Brien for £3m. Still unlikely to break the Big Five though.

Hornchurch
Manager: Seb Watley
Key Players: Carl Coffa, Luke Bluewater
Stadium: Walter Avenue (Hornchurch, 32,203)
Sponsors: HawtCorp

And so the Hornchurch slide continues - down to 14th now. Worst of all they have lost their talisman right back and wonderkid Nick Feeney for £17m to the two year champions, Revolutionaries. They are at serious risk of relegation now after failing to spend any of that windfall, using it to clear debts instead.

Lajuno
Manager: Mikelatz Mendialde (Astograth)
Key Players: Loren Arambel, Erlantz Izagirre, Mario Mikkenen, Alan Fotheringham, Conway Carlton, Craig Harper, Intza Basurto, James Clarke
Stadium: Lansbury Road (Lajuno, 38,390)
Sponsor: InterCity Rail (Civil Citizenry/FSSO)

Mendialade's Revolution from Astograth stalled a bit last season as Lajuno failed to move beyond 12th, when they are the club most capable of breaking the big five. Perhaps the signing of young Liventian striker James Clarke will change their fortunes.

New Harkdown
Manager: Hamilton Le’Arse
Key Players: Simon Rose, Richard Lockhart, Kimi Houberg, Lewis Moore
Stadium: OpTiiK IT Sports Arena (Harkdown, 40,430)
Sponsor: OpTiiK

How did New Harkdown finish 6th, we ask? Lord knows. They soldier on against the odds though, replacing the now retired Ross Browning in the summer with young Kimi Houberg. However, both teams Houberg has played for in his two seasons in FSSO have gone down - could he be a curse in disguise?

Revolutionaries
Manager: Michael Brand
Key Players: Ross Ramsden, Nick Feeney, Eamon Power, Colin Collymore, Kieran Kane, Clive Mallardino, Mikhael Johannes, Ascot Sanders, Clevon Drago, Simon Xavier, Brigham Bond
Stadium: Sasky Rising Memorial Stadium (Brigham, 68,949)
Sponsors: Mansley Systems

Revolutionaries are quickly becoming dominant in the Gold League, with two titles on the trot and a growing hegemony over the rest of the Big Five unmatched since Bastion's control in the 90's and the Directus masterclass a decade ago. They solved their right back problem by spending big on Nick Feeney in the summer, and have surprised many with yet another inspired signing from Civil Citizenry - Brigham Bond. Bond is seen as a long term replacement for Clevon Drago and will likely form a deadly partnership with Simon Xavier. Expect them to win the title again, although Directus may be in with a shot.

Sparta FC
Manager: Clark Robinson
Key Players: Antonio Marino, George Bowler, Djourou Calaga, Mikhael van Germ, Jay Morrison, Dalton Bradshaw Laughton, Josh Stevenson, Seryou Kobe, Sam Thomas, Marseto Silvia
Stadium: Spartangrad Olympic Stadium (Spartangrad, 75,520)
Sponsors: Polair (Polar Islandstates)

Sparta surprised themselves a bit by climbing higher than 5th but lost Sandquist in the summer, although they have at least invested in solid central midfielder Jay Morrison to fill the gap. With Bradshaw-Laughton most likely retiring at seasons end and the loss of Sandquist, Sparta won't make a title challenge this season.

Ulsa
Manager: Albert Osman
Key Players: Craig Castleton, Grant Davis, Andy Davis, Cornelius Barnes, Paco Leon Nolasco, Steven Thompson, Luther van Ferris, Clive Dawson, Jonathan Steele, Nicky Martin
Stadium: Troutbridge Stadium (Ulsa, 62,199)
Sponsors: ChocoMilk (Civil Citizenry)

Did bugger all in the summer but their squad is still strong and finally unified, giving them a solid platform for next season. Uncertainty over sponsors and partial owners ChocoMilk may be a destabalising influence though.

Workers Union
Manager: Frank Cole
Key Players: Lyle Heath, Nick Hamill, Rich Foley
Stadium: Workers Athletic Achievement Stadia for Make Benefit of People (Callodown, 30,000)
Sponsor: West Euran Steel and Coal Union Conglomerate [WESCUC]

Boring old Workers Union. No signings, no invention. Mid-table once again most likely.
