Sex ed. vs. Abstinence

Postby Siddamark » Wed Feb 23, 2011 7:55 am

Does your nation support education on contraceptives and protection for youth, or an emphasis on abstinence. Siddamark supports sex ed. classes in schools, but opinions vary. I was curious how the community reacts to this issue.

We let the parents handle it however they want. A heck of lot more efficient than the school system attempting to do so!

Of course, optional classes are offered in most schools, and generally abstinence only education is favored by all parties here.

All schools have comprehensive sex education.
It is taught from a common sense position, not from an "Abstinence" position.

Teenagers are going to have sex whether a widely-useless "absintence only" program is taught or not.

Instead of leaving kids in the dark when it comes down to it, sexual education classes teach healthy lifestyle choices and how to use protection correctly as opposed to making sex a dirty, mysterious thing which one should never do unless married.

Being a civilized nation so are our youth raised to not engage in such activities except with their bride after their marriage as well as not discuss such things at all.

Sex education, obviously. We also hand out condoms. Unless they're ugly, of course.

Common sense tells us to educate our youth.

In order to be good at something one must be educated. Since we want our people to be good at sex....
The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion … but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.

The most fundamental problem of politics is not the control of wickedness but the limitation of righteousness.

Both. We teach about protection, diseases and all that good stuff, but stress the importance of abstinence to ensure safety.

Sexual encounters are regulated heavily by the government. Pairings outside of authorized encounters may result in being transferred to a Penal Colony.

It is the general opinion of our people that abstinence is a crime against nature. Students are required to have sex a minimum of 3 times per day, in strictly controlled breeding facilities. In order to cut costs, sex education is not provided to everyone - rather we comprehensively teach it to a few government employed individuals who then act as "breeding inspection officers" and inspect each couple during the process to ensure the proper procedures are followed.
Thanks to this Sub-Antarctic Islands has a constantly booming population, and a never ending supply of soldiers and cheap labor.

We don't teach Abstinence, in fact we encourage it to the point that we have special classes for "hands on" lessons.

Teaching about sex is typically left to the parent in Roodswood, as it is both their right and duty. Most follow Catholic teaching on the subject, but if they do not, contraceptives are not widely available for sale anyway.

When the moment comes to make the choice for my nation: Abstinence.

But teenagers will have sex anyway...
