Flag Burning

Postby Tiesa » Mon Jul 27, 2009 11:36 am

If someone in your nation was to burn your Nation's Flag would there be any punishment, or possibly any reward? Does your nation have any laws, or regulations regarding Flag Burning? Tell me about your nation's stand on Flag Burning.

In Tiesa there are no laws regarding Flag Burning, though it is highly frowned apon to burn the Tiesan Flag. Many who have burned the flag out of protest have been beaten to death by outraged citizens. When it comes to burning the flag of another soverign nation, reaction varies depending on what neighborhood you're in.

It's free speech, so what. Vaarans have practically made flag burning a national past time, with Korell being the winning team.

Burning of flags (not only the national flag but the flag of any sovereign nation) is considered a blasphemous since it insults the kansa which protects the country. As such, Rejistania does not have laws against it but a strong cultural bias against doing it.

BTW: Pictures of foreign or domestic leaders or foreign or domestic currencies are not protected like this.

If someone burns the Volzgradian flag anywhere in the Empire, then they should prepare to be immediately jumped upon by a horde of citizens and torn to shreds by a mob. Such an action is considered disgracing the Empire to a maximum degree, and the only suitable punishment is horrible torture (ie. Getting your limbs hacked off, fingers and eyes pulled out, burned horribly, etc) and then execution. If the flag burner is 'lucky', then they would burn the flag in front of Volzgradian soldiers as they would simply be bayoneted and shot instead of torn to pieces. Unless of course a Royal Commissar is present, in which case the flag burner should begin to wish they were never born.

One time some our right wing nationalists burned Tezdrian and Delaclava flags, and organizator of that was arrested and sentenced to 26 days in prison, two more guys on 8 days in prison, and one girl on 3 days in prison.

There were more protests, but our government called that "act against diplomacy and one nation, with one word-racism"

Adolf Mingler(read about him on thread about racist organizations in my and your countries)was also known for burning jewish stars in April 2007,and was sentenced on 16 days in prison.

It's illegal in a public place, but in private homes we have no problem with it.

Our flag represents the true moral senses that make up Rhodmhire. To tamper with those symbolic moral senses is frowned upon greatly.

As with both the Freddie Mercury, and Hank Hill flags.

However, it is absolutely legal, unless it's private property (the flag), burned on private property, or burned without a permit (fire permit).

Otherwise, you're good to go.

And also if you're not physically harming anyone.

In Fson flags are burnt as ceremony all the time.

It comes from the time in the past when Fson a nation founded by Roman rebels, burnt their legion standards.

So in short flag burining is fine, even if it is the nations flag.

Flag burning is illegal and considered a terrorist activity. Offenders will be shot on sight.

" " Indeed.

The Freddie Mercury flag represented talent, creativity, passion, experience, freedom, and equality.

While the Hank Hill flag displays Conservative ideals, moderate considerations, intellect, influence, freedom, and equality.

As long as the burner owns the flag (or has written permission from the flag's owner) and are in an area where it's legal to burn things, it's legal. They must, however, keep in mind that they will be severely mocked and laughed at repeatedly.

We'd paint them to look like the flag, skin them alive and use that as our flag from then on. And we'd take everything they own, throw oil on it, burn it at the foot of their skinned corpse while shouting curses at them and then condemn them and everyone who is related to the offender to a maggot ridden death in a swamp. And that's on a good day.

It's legal, but frowned upon, to burn the national, or state flags in Yannia. Flag burners could get a stern talking to from angry citizens, though physical violence is rare, and should be reported.
Yannia's nation page contains an error. The population should be in millions, not in billions.

Flag burning is technically not illegal in Campeachy, though efforts to change that are underway, and the local population will generally beat the daylights out of you, or at least chase you away.

In Swilatia we have something called freedom of speech, so flag burning is legal.

However, for some reason, it is illegal to deface the national currency. This one always makes it onto the "stupid laws" lists.

It's legal, but flags are hugely expensive, so they'd be stupid to. It's a bit like anything oour government doesn't like. For example, guns are legal, but the bullets cost upwards of £400 for a single .22 round. So meh.

The citizens of Buffett and Colbert highly value their freedom of expression. Therefore, it is perfectly legal to burn the flag, as long as no damage is done to other public or private property, and there are no injuries as a result of this.

As with other nations whom have offered input on this thread, New Crannada also has a number of laws designated towards those who would deface national currency, our flag, images of our leader, or any other symbolism of our nation within our nation's borders. These are all seen as acts of dissent against the government and violators can face a sentence of up to twenty-five years in State prison. Repeat offenders are executed promptly.

Flag burning is 100% legal in the Duchy of Wessex; His Grace tolerates all such actions further to his fervent belief in the freedom of expression.
