He shouldn't be commended period for this. Commendations are for good deeds in Nationstates, extraordinary achievements, ending wars, defending regions , not things outside of, but happened to be related to Nationstates. If this is passed I will be immediately be writing a repeal for many reasons, including the one I just stated above and that the commendation isn't even 5 sentences long.

Bear in mind I am not a troll wanting attention, but I've seen way to many well-written and well-purposed proposals fail, and I find it a mockery that something like this could pass. Being mentioned and thanked by Max himself should be good enough, bending the rules of the game is going too far.

I don't see how you can claim that this proposal 'bends the rules'. The SC has established that actions related to NationStates that happen outside of the game (such as the destruction of offsite forums, or creating & hosting NSWiki) are legitimate grounds for Security Council Commendations/Condemnations.

Really? Who? The voting figures suggest otherwise (For: 4,291. Against: 1,452.) and there aren't any legality problems with it. I don't like the proposal - it's badly written - but I'd rather see an improved version of it passed than none at all.

It's common knowledge that most voters don't even read this forum. If they did they would probably see why some of us take issue with the fact that in-game criminals can get away with hijacking their governments on account of "lol Founder" while other people are getting public commendations for bleedin' flags.

So citing "lol vote count" really isn't a valid argument.

I voted against it, because now I have an extra image to load in my nation's page.

Even by your logic, we are opposing the commendation because converting JPEG's to PNG's isn't exactly something the commendation system was made to congratulate.

If only what was done was just "converting JPEG to PNG"... Picking up on or Making vectorial sources; render as bitmap; try to hand-fix the alpha conversion quirks (some unfortunately passed along, see Sark); resize; brute-force lossless optimization; custom brute-force lossless optimization; even more brute-force lossless optimization. I don't know a thing about your rules, but according to the forum moderators, no rules were bent. Also, as far as I know NationStates' interface is not outside of NationStates.

The security council is supposed to commend nations who have made a large impact on the world. Tiago Silva has not done so.

And too small it is. Flags were not the only thing I've tried to optimized in NationStates graphics, and I never bragged or cared about it.
