Genres You Can't Stand

Postby Sarrbia » Sun Jan 09, 2011 1:12 pm

There are already threads about favorite genres. But what are the music genres you dislike and find annoying?

Mine:

most modern rap
most country music
techno

Almost all pop music today, the trashier rap music
I have nothing against country, I like George Strait. However, taylor swift is NOT country and I hate her.
Techno is meh, I don't hate it but it's not my thing.
I don't really enjoy screamo music either, except for rare exceptions

Anything but classical and jazz.

Wait, where does it say this is about music? Why not movie or novel genres?

Tweenybop/teenybop, and dancey-trancey kind of music. I'm also not a fan of death/Satan/death metal music.

Normal pop I'm fine with, but yeah, Disney pop makes me want to set my ears on fire.

I also can't stand modern rap or any sort of country. Well, occasionally country's fine. I like Johnathan Coultan, for instance.

I don't like most pop music, a lot of rap, and country, though I don't really hate every single person in those genres.

I dislike country, modern rap is terrible with the exception of about two songs, screamo just gives me a headache, and I LOATHE pop.

It's interesting so many people say rap. I used to be like that, but I believe rap may have hope after listening to excessive amounts of Gorillaz and the early works of Archive (Londinium is exceptional), though I suppose these would be more accurately called trip-hop.

I don't like dismissing whole genres. Sure I may like some more than others, but I wouldn't dislike something if I just knew its genre...

I HATE country. Some rap is okay, and heavy metal is generally fine. The only reason I avoid heavy metal is due to the amount of profanity. I love rock, though, especially grunge (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, etc.) and Tool. One thing about Tool is disturbing music vids.
