Who are the site staff?
The site staff are split between several teams that are each responsible for different aspects of the smooth running of the site. Each of the roles is detailed below, as well as its members. Note that individuals may hold multiple roles within the site staff.

Site Leadership Team
Responsible for the overall direction of the site.

Executive Director - the highest ranking position on NationStates, the Executive Director reports directly to site owner Max Barry, and holds overall responsibility for the site.

The Technical team is responsible for maintenance of the site and the development of new features.

So, we get peppered regularly with questions to the effect of "How do I become a moderator?" and "So-and-so would make a great mod, don't you think?". This thread explains how the process of adding new members to the staff teams works.

Moderation and Technical Staff

We hold rounds of recruitment from time to time, when staff identify a need for new Technical or Moderation staff with a particular area of expertise. On those occasions, an announcement will be made in the relevant forum with details of what we are looking for, and the timescales for applying. Current recruitment is listed below:

• Looking for a new Portal to the Multiverse experienced Moderator
• Looking for new Tech Staff - Frontend/Design/Accessibility

During these rounds of recruitment, we will consider both nominations and self-applications, if they match the criteria set out in the linked thread. Outside of these, we will consider nominations but will not accept self-applications.

If you are nominating someone for a Moderator, or are yourself applying for one of the rounds of recruitment linked above, then please submit the following information via Getting Help Request:

• Your nomination's name (or primary nation, if the player has more than one).
• Your nomination's Discord name (if applicable).
• If your nomination is interested in becoming a moderator.
• Reasons why you think your nomination would make a good moderator.
• Reasons why you think your nomination may not make a good moderator. (Remember, folks, nobody's perfect!)
• List of links to threads/posts by your nomination that you think supports your reasons.
• Any other assorted information you feel should be mentioned regarding the nomination.

Other Roles

The Issues Editor team runs their own separate process for appointment of new Issues Editors, which is detailed here. GenSec will announce vacancies in the General Assembly forum as and when they arise.

We do not accept nominations for Events, Development Manager or Community Liason roles, as these are drawn from existing members of the staff teams.
