When I Rise The World Will Quake (Interest)

Postby Rithian » Fri Dec 17, 2010 7:07 pm

So I'm sittin' here, looking over some maps of Rithian. Now, as I see these maps, I realize I have a LOT of colonies. Over half my nation's land area is in its colonies. Because of this, I came up with a bit of an idee. Agregon, a particularly large colony in the Pacific Ocean, is growing tired of the increasingly oppressive Rithic government. Besides Nerka (the Rithic homeland) itself, the government is strongest there. A group of revolutionaries, called the Barandan Alliance have decided to declare Agregon's independence.

Here's the problem; the Barandan Alliance has no certain leader, nor a certain type of government they wish to set up when and if they win. So with the influence of players (as in, people who might potentially want to join this), the future of the colony of Agregon's government can be decided (assuming, of course, that they win. :P)

I'll give a few more details if enough people are interested in doing this. The spots available are for roleplaying are rebel leaders and foreign supporters of the revolt.

Sounds interesting - the Baradan Alliance sounds like the early July 26 Movement, and Che Guevara's horrifyingly calculated psychopathy can be converted for this.

The 26th of July Movement is actually what I had in mind when thinking of this, lol.

Have you read that biography of Guevara?

No, I haven't. I was just thinking of the Cuban revolution in general.

I'm interested in this. Will probably rp as a foreign supporter depending on how things go. But if allot of people support the rebels I will fight for the government.

I guess this means I need to make an ORBAT?

You won't have to make an ORBAT until the moment you deploy soldiers. Though I think this RP might be a tad bit more character based than army based.

So are we talking more political interactions then military movement? I have more experience with that then anything else luckily, although my rp experience is very low. But I'm a quick learner and a fairly good writer. And already knew about godmodding and I am a little OCD about realism sometimes so that shouldn't be a worry.

Ooops, just thought about something. Some of my tech has some PMT influences in it, will that be okay? I can remove it if I need to as it won't be that hard.

Throwing up a tag of interest. Could I bring a Nihilistic Anarchist Revolutionary who wishes to see all life purged from the world? If not then I have a few other pre-made characters or I could create a new one, whichever you wanted.

For the record, new character Idea is leaning toward a Massoud type figure....

Characters from any ideology with the exception of Fascism (as that's the type of government the Alliance is revolting against) are welcome. And even then, secret fascist tendencies are allowed, but the character will have to pretend that they follow a different ideology.

Could somebody give me a quick explanation? I have never done a character RP before and it sounds quite entertaining.

Sounds like a good idea. One question: Is Agregon heavily urbanised or largely rural? I was thinking of a character idea that involved Lodainnian born foreign guerilla fighters who have plenty of experience due to the multiple Lodainn civil wars to aid in the revolution or to train Barandan revolutionaries in guerilla tactics.

Why only FT or MT? Everybody seems to forget about PMT. Maybe I made a decision building all my military designs with PMT.....

From my short stay here's experience, there appears to limited PMT opportunities.

MT. And Agregon has some large cities and some rural areas as well. It's a pretty big place. Also, a character RP is when you roleplay as a specific character or characters instead of writing about your army's actions, etc. This will probably be a mix of both. Anyway, for those roleplaying a rebel leader, please state what kind of government your character supports, and if they act like they support something else. (I.e. "My leader wants to be a dictator, but knowing the people won't like it, he acts like he's for democracy") I will make 'factions' supporting different government types when I get that information. Thanks!

I'd like to play a farmer caught up in the mess of revolution, I suppose.

I will play as a young war veteran fighting for the rebels as a foreign supporter. He supports an enlightened dictatorship type of leadership.

I see. I could then possibly roleplay my nation interfering. Like taking advantage of the mess in the region and tries to make it a new colony for Laneige. First, under the disguise of a military support for the rebels or the government forces, whichever cause it does not matter. That, as an excuse to send troops to Agregon. Then, if ever if Laneige's influences grows to a powerful extend, we would turn our backs to our allies, which we used as puppets earlier. It would turn into a three side fight then.
