This is going to pass in twelve hours. I won't be around to see that happen, but I'll take the time now to thank the thousands who have supported it. I really appreciate some of the kind words that have been shared both publicly and privately regarding my writing and do not take for granted such sentiments towards my work. Hopefully I may continue to live up to those expectations.

I wish I had been a bit more active to continue tearing apart some of the hilarious things that appeared in this thread, but, alas, time is precious, and here it shall not be wasted.

I give a shout out to certain people whose miserable attempts to threadbomb this proposal simply provided me the confirmation of its being an acceptable piece of legislation and which only provided me with even more motivation to pass it. Here's to you.

Also, here's to me, for passing my first GA resolution. Congratulations, me.
*pats me on the back*

Cheers.

It was then that the site crashed, erasing all evidence of the proposal and its passing.

Congratulations, you've passed another piece of trite, micromanaging legislation. It is quite an accomplishment to get a resolution passed in this assembly that passes literally everything that comes to a vote.

Everyone opposed to any resolution loses. That's my point. The vast majority of the World Assembly just votes yes by default. It's no trick getting a resolution passed. I don't even know why we vote. Why don't we increase efficiency and automatically pass everything that gets into the queue?

Yeah. Ummm. No, we don't pass everything that comes to a vote. Stick around enough and you will see just how fallacious your statement truly is.

You still have yet to address how smaller nations and businesses are supposed to afford this. We've asked repeatedly, but you seem to busy insulting your opposition instead of addressing a valid and far from trivial concern. But that's okay. You got what you wanted, right? For large corporations to be rid of their competition? Guess so.

What would be better is to define perishable goods which usually go bad quickly and may be injurious to health if spoiled, and/or eaten after the specified date. Foods that have a best before date are usually safe to eat after the date has passed, although they are likely to have less flavour, texture, appearance or nutrition than before.

Yeah, but how would I define "quickly?" "Quickly" is a very opinion-based idea; the only way I can imagine achieving this would be to establish some kind of council that judges whether goods spoil quickly or not and have them decide what is to be considered by this legislation as needing an expiration date, which would be totally absurd.

I know what a "best before" date is. I thought we had already gone over that.

OOC: OMG sore loser-whining-fest, could this sad attempt at threadbombing go on any longer? Of course it can. Feel free to continue, this is the part where I stop watching.

Honestly, this isn't rocket science. Leave something sitting around and after a period of time play around with a chemistry set or feed it to a hobo and see if it's still worth keeping. If a nation really doesn't have enough funds to carry out some simple tests on food substances and equipment then they've obviously dug themselves into a grave that they're not getting out of and it's their own damn fault. "On Expiration Dates" is hardly the worst of their problems.

If businesses have the funds and technology to create medicinal compounds and/or equipment, then I can't possibly imagine that they don't have the funds and technology to gather information and perform testing on those compounds and on their equipment. If they don't, then they shouldn't be producing anything in the first place.

This was sitting around in these forums for three months. You hang around the GA constantly. If you actually cared about fixing what you perceived as loopholes and flaws within its text and not just making a pathetic attempt to beat down the proposal, you would have had an immense amount of time to comment here on practical methods of improving the legislation. However, you spent only a portion of that time reinforcing others' ridiculous and arbitrary grievances such as the anger over its failure to incorporate imaginary aliens that inhabit nations into the legislation's area of effect, being pissy about its category, and labeling it as micromanaging. You obviously care more about trying to defeat the proposal than trying to improve it; hence, threadbombing, and something I am instinctively inclined to cast aside.

So, yes, I still haven't addressed your arguments because your arguments simply boil down to "this proposal and the way the author worked it out stinks and I hate it all." There's no need for me to respond to it at all except for in this fashion.
