My Views On Pedophilia (NO FLAMING)

I have serious doubts about society's perception of sexual relations between adults and children. Most everyone seems to believe that children cannot consent to any kind of sexual activity, and therefore, it is always abusive. From my point of view, whether a child can consent to an activity or not depends on it's level or risk, and regarding sex, it all depends on circumstance. For example, prepubescent children are not physically developed for full penetrative intercourse, and engaging in it would almost certainly result in internal injury.

On the other hand, non-penetrative sexual intimacy carries no physiological risks. If there is no malicious coercion, threat of violence, or force involved, I have a hard time believing that such an activity can be abusive. As for the fact the trauma children have apparently experienced in cases of consensual adult-child sexual relations, I believe that this is caused by the social stigmatization and cultural taboos regarding sex. If a child experienced such a positive relationship with an adult only to grow up being told by everyone else that they were horribly abused, it would make sense that they grew up with psychosocial problems. Plus, while studies have indicated that children have experienced trauma from these experiences, they never explain what actually causes it, so this explanation seems to make the most sense.

Please note that I am not saying that my assertion on the matter of adult child sex is a fact in any way, but I do believe it to be true based on what I have said so far. I'd like to know what the rest of NSG thinks about it. Again, NO FLAMES PLEASE. I know that this is a very volatile topic, but let's try and keep it civil.

Any relations between a child under thirteen and an adult is unnatural. I think that it is heinous to make such claims, however I myself understand that 13 yr olds are of age to make the decision for themselves, and by then they know what sex is and the gravity of the act.

Who defines "informed"? If something is completely consensual, it isn't abusive. It might not be a good idea, but it's not abusive.

Regardless, even if the irreparable psychological damage is purely induced by the social stigmatization (which almost certainly will never stop being an aspect of our culture), this still means that there is absolutely no justification under any circumstance for it, a child is plainly not aware of how he or she will view the events in the future, so she did not consent to the damage that resulted (again, even if its a result of social stigmatization).

If we take this to be true, then how can we have children partake in any other activities that they decide, in retrospect, they found unpleasant? But I understand your point about social stigmatization. Nothing can really be done about that until society decides to change it's opinion.
