Rune tattoo

So, I'm probably going in later today to get another tattoo, down my forearm.

I want to get "Deutschland" in the Elder Futhark, but Elder Futhark lacks a "c" rune. I was wondering if anyone had any tips? I'm extremely proud of my Germanic racial heritage, and that's why I want this tattoo. Thanks for any help!

I wonder why you want to use Futhark and still use the modern German word "Deutschland". Shouldn't you use the equivalent old Germanic term instead?

I wonder why you want to use Futhark and still use the modern German word "Deutschland". Shouldn't you use the equivalent old Germanic term instead?

I'm not sure where to look to get that, I suck at the noble art of Googling, I really do.

I would suggest a picture tattoo instead of writing. Something from germany maybe your familys coat of arms or a coat of arms from a region you are connected to or failing that, a beer stein


OR you could spell out GERMANY in that writing since Im pretty sure they have all the letters u need

No, I can't. It wouldn't be the first time I've been called either Fascist, or a Nazi. And this is besides the fact that the Elder Futhark predates German Nazism by at least a decade or so.

If you are going in later today, you really should have planned this out more...I think learning the ancient equivalent is the best idea. Has it always been called Deutschland? You could just use the equivalent meaning of Germany as a race or cultural region. Or any word that has deep meaning and significance in traditional Germanic culture - just try to find a site or a book that gives a few words or phrases in Old Norse (or some other old Germanic language).

I want both the current, and the original tricolor for sure (Black, red, and gold. Black, white and red), but I have "Hallelujah" written down my right arm, so I want writing. Plus the Elder Futhark does not have a "y"... I thought about that.

Also thought of this. But I'd want words like "Justice, honor, order" (in the German, of course) as well, and probably all together, I've been considering my shoulder.

I had a different font in mind (the same as is on my other arm) and that made "Deutschland" no problem, but I've been giving more thought to getting it in runes.

Actually, I would presume Germans were an ethnic group. You guys do share in a common history, culture and language that is separate from the world. I also presume a large majority also still share biological traits as well. All these are indications of an ethnic group.

I agree, and the German culture is notably different from almsot all of Europe throughout, and beyond the Middle Ages, as well as before then.

Does anyone have any positive help? My intent was not to start a fight about whether Germans are a race apart or not.

If it's going to be on your arm permanently, you should make sure you've got it right first.
