Best and Worst National Flags

Following up on my earlier question about the US flag:

Which real world countries have the best and worst flags from a pure graphic design standpoint.
I'd go with the Union Jack for best - simple, classic and instantly recognizable. Worst is harder, there are a lot of terrible ones. I guess I'll pick Belize - it looks like the Minnesota state flag only worse. Could they possibly stick more random crap on there?

The Aboriginal Flag is best obviously. I don't think it qualifies being a national flag though.

For flags that visually are the most appealing, and easiest to recreate, I’d have to say the Stars and Stripes and the Union Jack.

On the other hand, the WORST flags of the world should include China, Canada & Libya.

I think South Africa's flag is really interesting, mainly because it breaks so many rules of flag design yet still manages to work really well.

Stars and Stripes and Union Jack are two very distinctive flags, so is Brazil's as well.

Also, the flag of the Napoleonic Italian Republic is pretty unique.

Though as an American I am biased towards the US flag, I must say that the Union Jack is the most visually appealing and also the "coolest". Worst is hard to say. Personally, I really dislike any flag that is comprised of three bars of different colors.

I'm with you on Belize for one of the worst, but I think Libya is the all-time winner. Green is a color, not a flag.

Personally, I like Nepal's. It's the only one that's in a shape besides a rectangle. But I do have to agree that the Union Jack is possibly the best and easiest to recognise.

Best: Tough choice. Lots of good flags, no perfect ones. I guess from an objective flag design standpoint, France's is probably best.

Top choices, Britain, Brazil, Jamaica, also kinda of like Israel's flag for the baby blue/white simplistic flag. In fact, you know what, I'm going with Israel on this one.

Worst flags in the artistic sense, Grenada, Antigua and Libya.

Now had you said the Canadian Red Ensign, that’s a different story all together, but the Maple Leaf Flag is absolutely terrible. It’s basically the Flag of Peru but with a Maple Leaf instead, and even your own opposition during your nation’s flag debate referred to the Maple Leaf Flag, as “...a flag that Peruvians might salute”.

I think France's was one of the best when it initially appeared. Now it's been played upon and messed with so many times it lacks a lot of its initial uniqueness.

I like the Canadian flag. The Scottish flag is nice, simple, as is the Union Jack, of which it is a part. France's is cool, though it inspired a lot of copycats. I also like Norway's, Sweden's, Finland's and Iceland's flags. The American flag is pretty cool, too. I've always thought the Jamaican flag is awesome as well.

Worst?

Libya. Or Rwanda.

Considering that I don't live in canada, I somehow doubt that our opposition were consulted.

And, surprisingly, committees DO sometimes get good results.

Fixed. I liked Koreas the most for some reason. It bothers me that they didn't give Australia the proper background color.
