I would think that twice-weekly games wouldn't hurt. Three to four days is usually long enough (as the pro football leagues have demonstrated). We'll need to keep activity up with regular games. Of course, if you wanted to keep the week-long schedule, you could throw in a game the day before the big game day to whet appetites, and occasional weird-day games too (like the Thursday games in the NCAA). Variety is the spice of life ;)

Also, I think that the simplified playoff system is a really good idea. That would make it more likely that the two most powerful teams will compete for the title, instead of a fluke win for someone not as qualified. I also like the idea of Whittoria scorinating one conference and you scoring another. Maybe we could do a day for one conference and a second day for the other? And encourage teams to do little analysis pieces on the other conference? Or if a nation enters two schools (if we start allowing that), one school goes in one conference and the other goes in the other conference?

I agree that two games a week wouldn't be too much to handle, but the reason I want to continue the games once a week is for this reason: Let's say that next season we continue to have the main game day be on Thursday nights. I would like to give the NSCF Committee until Sunday at noon ET to TG me their top ten teams. That would give everyone Thursday night, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning for them to TG me their top ten. That way there is plenty of time for everyone to see the results of the games, have enough time to evaluate the other teams, and then send me their top ten.

An idea of yours that I REALLY like is having games on days not typical of Thursday's. I know what you mean about the Thursday games in RL when games are normally on Saturday's- so I agree that is a great idea! As far as the scheduling goes, I think I would take care of the schedules for the teams in my conference, and then Whitt would take care of the schedules for the teams in his conference.

On the topic of nations sending multiple teams- here is my idea for that policy: If a nation enters one school in their first season, RP consistently in that season, then they have earned the right to have one more school in the next season.

So under that policy myself, Arkinesia, Cosumar, Osarius, and Wadomia would have the opportunity to have two schools in NSCF 2. What do ya think? But I do agree that if you have two schools from your nation competing in the NSCF, then one school will be in my conference and one school will be in Whitt's conference.

I did not participate last season, however I would like to get involved in this league. I also have some ideas for the league. First of all, I like the idea for having games not on the typical matchday. I think we should have the "game of the week" played a day early or sometime different. Like if the top two ranked teams are playing eachother then that would probably be the game played on the different day. This could either be one game or one game from each conference. For deciding which game is played on this day, I was thinking that the same people who vote on the top teams could vote on that.

I also really like the idea of recruiting and would like to see this next season. I think it would add something that would set this league apart from others. It would be a great way to draw even more members.

100% agreed.

See above. :P

I think also that we should start brainstorming on awards immediately after the finals so that if we have some disputes, we'll have time to bicker. An idea I'd like to put forth though—let's figure out some provisional stats on each team and then the teams with the best defense, best offense, etc. can pick their best players from those units. Then, we name each award for a player that our teams had in the first season of NSCF (i.e. we could have a Stu Gildon Trophy or a Matthew Coulter Award, and so on).

I'm thinking it would be best to judge those things based on scores, and I've got all of them stored in a convenient location :ugeek:

Ganjapolis-
I'm glad to see you want to get into the NSCF world, welcome! I like you're idea about having a "game of the week" for each conference. After thinking about all of the things we've discussed with scheduling, here is my first idea: Let's say next season there are two conferences, each with ten teams. So each week there would be five games played per conference. Four of them would be played Thursday night and the "game of the week" would be played on Wednesday or Friday night.

I also agree with you that the NSCF Committe should be the one to determine when these "games of the week" are scheduled, so I think when the committee sends me their top ten teams, they will have also have to send me the "game of the week" from each conference. Then Sunday, the top ten teams, along with the game times for that week would be released. What do ya think?

Ark-
I like the idea of naming our "Heisman" trophy after someone from NSCF 1, but I think it should be named after someone that's a senior this year, or a coach that is in his last year. The only reason I suggest that is because I wouldn't want Stu Gildon to win the Gildon Trophy next season. Do you know what I mean? So I believe that we should name it after the top senior in NSCF 1, and then we can go from there.

I like the idea about having people come up with stats each week, that way at the end of the season it will make sense when their quarterback throws for 3000 yards, instead of a QB from Cosumar that no one ever heard about, all of a sudden breaks onto the scene. But from reading your post, do you think we should have an offensive MVP and defensvie MVP and a "Heisman" award as well? I'd be all for those three awards.

Good points. Also I would like to see an offensive MVP and defensive MVP plus a best overall player. I think that the players who are selected as competitors for the "Heisman" should not be eligible for offensive or defensive MVP, though.

All sounds pretty good to me. I'd say naming the trophy can wait, though... for now, it can just be "Player of the Season" or something, until there is a legitimate IC reason to name it after a player/coach.

Everything else seems ok. I'd maybe make the games a bit more regular though. Partly because if there is too much gap between fixtures, people can lose interest or just plain forget (i did a few times, to be honest), and partly because if the season takes almost as long as a World Bowl cycle (for example), it makes it a bit harder to sync up to a nation's domestic league or national team. I'm not gonna cry if it stays at once a week though.

"Player of the Season" works for now- I have no objection.

I'd be fine with scorinating twice a week, that wouldn't be too much for us to handle, right? But this is what we would have to do as far as rankings go: Let's say we have games on Monday's and Thursday's every week. I would give the committe Thursday and Friday night to see the results of the games of the week, and then I would need their votes for the top ten by Saturday at noon. What do you guys think?

And I was just looking at our Everything Thread, and I noticed we have two wiki pages for some reason? If someone has time to combine the two and make them look good, that would be awesome. Haha I'm not good with wiki stuff otherwise I would do it.

The rankings bit sounds just fine. I could handle it, at least.

The two articles are a result of needing articles for each individual season. When NSCF 2 starts, there will be a minisummary on the NSCF wiki, and then a new Wiki for NSCF 2. It's pretty common if you look at NFL articles on Wikipedia, for instance.

Nah, it's okay, I understand. :)

Probably mid- or late October. Gives us time to hash some things out as well as have good, long sign-ups for NSCF 2.

Off topic slightly, but if there are teams being added for season 2, I'd like to add a team.

As for awards, here's my suggestions (* denotes already mentioned):

* Offensive player
* Defensive player
* "Heisman"/overall best
Coach of the year
Kicker/punter

Just suggestions, is all.

Oo, I hadn't thought of kicker awards. You know, looking at the scores Churchma, I think that might actually be really good idea, because most scores involve a few missed PATs :P

Ark-
I'm glad we're on the same page as far as starting season two is concerned. I think I'll start the signup thread sometime towards the end of October, and start sometime in the middle of November.

Lycrabon-
Glad to hear that you will be joining us for season two. I also like the "Coach of the Year" award and the "Special Teams" player of the year (that way it could be punter, kicker, punt returner, or kick returner) that wins the award.

So far here are a list of awards that will be awarded in NSCF 2:
Most Outstanding Player
Offensive Player of the Year
Defensive Player of the Year
Special Teams Player of the Year
Coach of the Year

We could potentially have a recruiting class of the year too? (By the way, all of these things will be voted on by the NSCF Committee).

Another topic that I wanted to begin to discuss is where will post season games be played in NSCF 2? As previously mentioned, we'll have a championship, and then three bowl games. In other words, the #1 teams from each conference will play a post season game, #2 teams from each conference will play a bowl game, and the same thing for the #3 and #4 teams from each conference. In NSCF 1 the championship is being played at Colden University's Dorrel Stadium. Next season I would like the championship to be hosted by a different country.

Here is the bid form for hosting a postseason game:

Name of Bowl Game: (For example, Fiesta Bowl)
Stadium Name:
Capacity:
IC Information about the city:
Picture isn't necessary but you can inclue one if you want:

Just to clear things up, when you host a postseason game, that doesn't mean you'll actually be scorinating it, it's just for RP purposes so the teams know where the game will be played. The scorination will be done by myself or Whittoria. The NSCF Committee will also decide which bowl game is the Championship, #2 matchup, #3 matchup, and #4 matchup.

Recruituing class is doable, but I'm not sure how it could be done. Just me spitballing it....anyway, is there a signup thread for season 2 yet?

As far as the bowl game:

Here is the bid form for hosting a postseason game:

Name of Bowl Game: (For example, Fiesta Bowl) Three Rivers Bowl presented by Gas n Go
Stadium Name: Capital City Gazette Stadium
Capacity: 48,956
IC Information about the city: St. Catherine is the provincial capital of Newcastle province and the national capital. The stadium is located near where three national roads and two other regional roads converge. Next dood is the baseball stadium for the IBL St. Catherine Blue Jays, whom they share the parking lots with. The open end of "the Cap" creates havoc for kickers with the wind off the river. Think Heinz Field's open end, and you'll know what kind of havoc gets caused at that side. Newcastle University will also play their home games at this stadium.

I think the recruiting rankings thing can wait. Maybe that will be something we do for NSCF 3, but for now, I don't think we need to worry about it.

Thanks for the bowl bid! And no, we do not have a NSCF 2 signup thread yet. Look for that thread to come up sometime in mid October.

Have you all given any more thought to the idea of drafting NSCF players into the Gridiron Football League? If this were to happen it would presumably be sometime after the NSCF season has already occured and before the GFL season commences, but with teams already firmly in place.

I think this would be a good idea- but after this inaugural season is over we'll probably have a limited number of athletes from each team that would be sent to the GFL draft. Seeing as how there are only three teams that have regularly RP'd in the last few weeks, that would equate to a low number of players being drafted for the GFL's first draft. I would say we should wait until after NSCF 2 before we send any players to the GFL draft. Because after next season there will be more teams= more people that RP= more information on the players that will be drafted. What do you guys think?

Name of Bowl Game: Liberty Bowl (I know it's an RL bowl but it represents Arkinesia well I think)
Stadium Name: Walker Field @ Arkinesia Gridiron Park
Capacity: 107,500 (recently expanded due to high number of sellouts)
IC Information about the city: Kotaharapan is a modern city, with excellent public transport, very minimal pollution, and much space for people traveling into the city. The field is maintained on a daily basis, and is checked for problems pertaining to the grass as well as structural issues. The banners and such are digital, enabling easy transitions for different schools' colors for bowl games and exhibitions.

Congratulations to Osarius for the University of Utica winning the NSCF 1 championship! I would also like to congratulate Arkinesia for a runner-up finish. It's been a fun season everybody! Look for that NSCF 2 signup thread to be up in about two-three weeks.

I read this entire thread, and I really like a lot of ideas I'm reading.

I think drafting players from the NSCF into GFL is a great idea but is not yet applicable.

Having awards for the most outstanding players each season is a good idea as well but what is to stop people from just voting for themselves?

I like the concept of a ranking system based on votes, but it would be difficult to ensure that each person votes every week, and we would be trusting people to be fair and not vote their team for 1st every time.

I was mentioned as a possible council member and would love to do so.

NSCF is really taking off and I love the direction this is taking!...although there are many details that need to be worked out before NSCF 2 can begin Can't wait for season 2, and congrats to Osarius!

A bowl game application will follow this post.
