Well, I was searching through a list of sports, maybe to see if I can host an event for NationStates. The first one that I saw that wasn't overly used was Sailing. I love to sail when I can (especially at Virginia Beach and the Caribbean) so I wanted to create this event, for the enjoyment of everyone who participates.
My overall idea for this event was to have a scorinator, such as xkoranate, which uses the Olympic Sailing scorinator, and there would be several races within the islands of Thatius, a group called the Djonos Islands. They are six islands north-east of the capital, and have a varied terrain. Here's a map:
It is, yes, a work done on paint, but the race starts with the red star on the major island, Djono (the yellow one.) The regatta will have five legs, and first follow the red line from the star around the island of Andromos (the pink one) to the island of Bellico (the light-blue one.) That starts the first leg, but more descriptions will be added when a RP thread is put up. The second leg starts with the dark blue line from Bellico then around the island of Saleno (the purple one) where it ends. The third leg starts from Saleno and goes through the Tri-Sea area, one of the roughest points in Thatius' waters, where many rocks stick out and are a hazard to ships. This is a place where divers can find many shipwrecks. Continuing on the yellow line from Saleno, going past Bellico, along the coast of Djono, you end up on Djono Minor (the red one.) The final leg and the longest goes from Djono Minor all the way around the coast of Djono and past the island of Adumir, where there is only about a mile in distance between the two islands. Finally, the race continues on that brown line and ends at the red star, which is the capital of the Djonos Islands.
Kind of confusing, perhaps, but I will post a much better version that includes pictures, maps, and information on the islands and cities on them, in order for everyone to have an easier time RPing. So, points will be given to every single entrant in the race, but you want the lowest score. It's basically like golf, you want to see how low you can get, so the more first place finishes is better. A bonus, undetermined as of yet, will be given to all players who roleplay right before the next leg starts. In total, you want the lowest score, which will guarantee you an overall win. A schedule will be posted of the legs as well.
So, each nation is allowed up to two entrants each. Also, the ships that are allowed are sailboats! NO warships, submarines, motor-ships, surfboards, etc. These are sailboats, which solely depend on the wind. It would be favorable to post a picture of your ship. All entrants who use a non-sailboat will be disqualified. The ship may have a crew up to 10 people, but no less than 6.
