Use of AI Policy

Violations of this policy will be subject to the harshest possible penalties. If you have questions on this, or anything is unclear, please TG me any questions you have.

#1 AI Generated images- AI generated images are fine as long as they are explicitly labeled as such.
#2 AI Generated text- AI generated text is explicitly prohibited, and any instance thereof allows the host to levy any punishment as I see fit, including but not limited to zeroing out both rank and any prior earned RP bonus.
#3 AI Translation- AI translation services into English are also fine. However, the original language text should be posted in a spoiler for transparency purposes. See a good sample RP from Huayramarca that is a perfect illustration of what I am talking about.

Sport Info

As a reminder for all, this is outdoor/field lacrosse. If you need help with it, here is the Wikipedia article on Field Lacrosse. We are playing the 10 on 10 version- so your roster should have at least 10 players- the rules divide them into a goaltender, three defenders, three midfielders, and three attackers. If you have any further questions on the sport, feel free to reach out to me either via Discord or DM- I will be happy to answer any questions you may have!

Other Info

As a reminder, only the host may reserve posts. Use the draft feature if you want to put down a post mid writing and finish it later.

Any OOC host announcements will be made in the WLC Discussion Thread, so check there periodically.

This thread is ready to go, so go ahead and start posting your rosters and RP! May the odds be ever in your favor :)

Busoga Islands National Information

Image
Map of the Busoga Islands within the Shango-Fogoa Basin

The Islamic Republic of the Busoga Islands have firmly established themselves on the map in Arrosia - the country forming as an independent nation shortly after World Cup 80, as a result of what is commonly known internationally as the Banijan-Equestrian War, but within the country as the Busogan war for independence. They are located on the northwestern edge of the Shango-Fogoa Basin. It has a population of about 12 million people.

There are many options between getting the two islands. There is a tunnel that one can drive through, as well ferries every 15 minutes (the ride is about an hour, and these are car-carrying ferries), or by aeroplane.

The national animal of the country is a kangaroo- it has a large population of wild kangaroos in the country.

The islands have been inhabited for over 400 years, named after their founder, Ayatollah Kizil Busoga. These people have been one that have fiercely and jealously their independence. While, of course, being ruled by Quebec City, and then via Busukuma, for over two entire centuries, they have come out of the woodworks and staked a name for themselves. Politically, they historically closely ally with the Equestrian States and other nations within Canterlot's sphere of influence, and thanks to heavy foreign investment they have a rapidly growing economy. They also count Baker Park among their close allies. While they used to have an antagonistic relationship with Banija, the Belle Haven Agreement normalized relations between the two neighbors. They are economically very strong trading partners, and although there are sometimes cultural tensions, the two nations by and large get along.

After former NT goalkeeper Delbin Kasekende was President of this country for four full terms, and some change(25 years in total), the people replaced him with President Ulker Kavak. Kasekende, naturally, is still the head of BISA- which he has been for over a decade. The country, despite its status as an Islamic Republic, is largely secular in its outlook- although President Kavak is trying to increase the influence of the faith within the country. At this point, however, there is a near complete separation of church and state- no islamic laws regarding dress, food, beverages, or really anything that would separate from a standard, completely secular government.

In terms of domestic lacrosse, the country is still growing into being a lacrosse country- as this tournament is a growth initiative. The domestic league is a pro-am league, with some players professionals, while others are amateurs- pretty much all have full-time jobs in something other than sports. This is the first ever major international sporting championship event that has been solo hosted by the Busoga Islands.

The country will re-use the infrastructure that was used when they co-hosted Cup of Harmony 92.

Lakiska, South Island

Located on the South Coast of the South Island, Lakiska is the long-time Busoga Islander capitol. It has a population of 825,000, making it the second largest city in the country. This city has one of the country's two international airports, the other one being in Dukuma. This will be an important host city for the tournament- donating two stadiums to the cause.

Lakiska City Field

This stadium is known as a soccer-specific stadium, although it obviously hosts lacrosse matches as well. It has a capacity of 34,000, and is host to Lakiska Sporting Club, the only soccer team from the Busoga Islands in the Shango-Fogoa Premier League. They are, by quite some margin, Busoga's biggest sporting club.

Matches Held Here:
One Round of 16 Match
One Quarterfinal
WLC 46 Final

The Republican Gardens

With a seating capacity of 11,900, it is the home of the third tier Lakiska Kangaroos. Located in a capitol neighborhood that used to be called 'The King's Gardens' under Banijan rule, it has since been renamed the Republican Gardens ever since independence was achieved. The club itself is named after the national animal, the kangaroo.

Matches held here:
One Round of 16 Match

Serizar, South Island

Busoga only really has two large cities- and this is well apparent in Serizar, which is a port city on the southern part of the south island. It has a population of 129,000.

Cemal F. Davala Stadium.

This is the home of Serizar FC, another club that is firmly in Busoga's third tier. Cemal F. Davala, the namesake, is a historic figure- the second ruler of the original(aka pre-Banijan) Busoga, succeeding Ayatollah Busoga himself.

Matches Held Here:
One Round of 16 Match
One Quarterfinal

Dukuma, North Island

This is the largest city in the Busoga Islands, with a population of 1,350,000. Located on the Eastern shores of the North Island, it is a major port city on the edge of the Shango-Fogoa Basin, and also has a major airport. This city also has two stadiums that it will provide for Busoga's group in Phase 2 of the AOCAFs.

New Orange Field. Seating capacity of 34,000. Home of Dukuma Sporting Club, who are firmly in the Banijan 2nd tier.

Matches Held Here:
One Round of 16 Match
One Quarterfinal
One Semifinal

The Busogan Beehive. Seating capacity of 14,382. Home of Castra Bostra FK, who are firmly in the third tier on the domestic football pyramid. It is named after the team's nicknames, which is the bees, because of the team's black & yellow striped jersey. This is located in the northern fringes of Busoga's largest city.

Matches Held Here:
One Round of 16 Match

Tezirbu, North Island

The northern most city in the country, it has a population of 215,000, located on the northern shores. It is another port city- ergo, fairly diverse. It is known as Busoga's best vacation spot- so it is built on tourism. Plenty of resorts, a big party culture, and tons of foreign tourists being relaxed.

The Foxes Den. Seating capacity of 16,700, home of the Tezirbu Foxes, who are firmly planted in the 2nd tier of the domestic football pyramid.

Matches Held Here:
One Round of 16 Match
One Quarterfinal

Tripoli, North Island

Tripoli is not on the coast, making this the only inland city to host matches here at the World Lacrosse Championships. It is also not known for being very large, with an entire population of 110,000. It is not really known for much of anything at all- but, they built a brand new stadium to be able to host matches here, so here they are.

New Forest Stadium. Brand new stadium, purpose-built to attract matches to Tripoli. Seating capacity of 19,000. Also the centerpiece of new investment into the Tripoli Foresters club, who just recently got promoted to the 2nd tier. A sign of ambition, to become just the third Busogan club to be promoted all the way to the S-FPL.

Matches Held Here:
One Round of 16 Match
One Semifinal

Beirut, North Island

Beirut is on the western part of the north island, facing out into the basin and Busoga's general western neighbors. Despite it being there, it is not a major port- and therefore, has a smaller population- close to 75,000. Beirut is mostly known for its aggressiveness towards wind energy, due to its location- basically everything in and around this city is powered by wind, including the stadium.

Stade de Beirut. Seating capacity of 19,355. Home of Beirutspor, who are firmly planted in Busoga's 3rd tier.

Official Roster of the reigning world champions for the 45th World Lacrosse Championships

Head Coach: Birta Tiyana. 49 years old. Female.

Her predecessor, Owole Kalili, was of course Banija's most accomplished lacrosse head coach. He won the demonstration event at the XVI Summer Olympiad, as a head coach, on the men's side- and then, his 5 cycle run as the manager for the senior team was fantastic. WLC 41 & 44- Banija became world champions. Our only two championships in this sport, two date. WLC 42, Banija got 3rd place, WLC 43, lost in the quarters, and WLC 45, we went to the final on home soil- only to lose. But a wildly successful tenure came to an end, as Kalali is now 71 years old- and is ready to watch as a fan.

So who to take over? Well, former NT player, Birta TIyana. She retired after Banija's heartbreaking loss, again on home soil, in the WLC 40 FInal. Last 2 cycles, however, she's been an assistant for the national team, and came with Kalili's recommendation to take over- and so she will take over. She's not young by any means, but a generation behind Kalili- she's got a hunger, having never won as a player, to win as the senior manager- and has told reporters that she is driven 'with a singular focus' to bring a third trophy to the Banijan lacrosse trophy cabinet.

Demonym: Banijan
Trigamme: BNJ
Governing Body: Olympic Committee of Banija(governing body for all professional sports in Banija besides soccer and ice hockey).

After the failures of the 28th and 29th World Lacrosse Championships, and especially the 29th edition where Banija got eliminated in the group stages of the WLCs for the first time ever(on home soil no less!), everything was torn down. The Olympic Committee of Banija seized control, and voted the sport's independent governing body(a rarity in Banija) out of existence. Various reforms were introduced. Chief among them- rid themselves of those who failed. The entire coaching staff was purged, and with it, not a single player who was on the WLC 28 or 29 roster was invited back to form the WLC 30 roster. Those high up in Banija called the WLC 29 group stage elimination, on home soil, of a nation that considered themselves an international lacrosse powerhouse an 'absolute embarassment to the country' and vowed for deep reforms to ensure that this did not ever happen again.

This, of course, happened before the 30th WLCs, in Cassadaigua. The Banijans were able to escape the group stage, once again, but fell to an ancient power in this sport- Sarzonia, by a score of 10-9, in the Round of 16. It was followed by a disappointing entry at the Champions Challengers Cup, where they fell to both Baker Park and Sarzonia in West Guiana, to finish 0-2. In the 31st WLCs, the Banijans finally overcame recent struggles by geting back to where they felt they belonged, the semifinals, though they fell at that stage in Baker Park. While they regressed at WLC 32, only going .500 in the group stage and getting knocked out in the Round of 16 by the tournament's top seed, they've restructured the squad. While they kept the defense and goalies, they made big changes up top, replacing all 7 midfielders on the roster, as well as changing out a number of attacking players. The WLC 33 cycle began strongly, with the team winning the Moravica Lacrosse Invitational en route to going 6-0 in group play. However, they were downed by Sarzonia in the quarterfinals, once again giving the Banijans an early exit from lacrosse's premier tournament.

WLC 34 was the most success this team has had in quite a while. While the team only got 2nd place in their group, their 4-2 finish put them into the knockout stages. They hit their stride in the knockout stages, beating a trio of lacrosse giants- West Phoenicia, then Sarzonia, and then the Commonwealth of Baker Park, en route to their first final since WLC 21. While they were favored in the Final, HUElavia was one better, downing the Banijans by a score of 14-9, as they came out of nowhere, in their first ever WLCs, and found themselves crowned champions of the world. After a quarterfinal elimination WLC 35, Banija was back at it in WLC 36, going undefeated in the group stages, including an upset victory over longtime rival Abanhfleft, who have delivered Banija so much pain in this sport while we have failed to return the favor.

They reached the semifinals, before playing their dreaded Fleftic opponents. There was a sense of optimism in the camp brought to them by their AO championship that preceded this tournament. But an Abanhfleft team that looked down and out brought the high-flying Banijans down to Earth, reminding us exactly who was the boss in this sport as they eliminated us once again in the late stages of this tournament, en route to their record sixth title. To follow it up with more pain, we played our other chief rival in this sport, Sarzonia, in the WLC 37 Semifinal. Once again, a high-flying Banijan team was brought down to Earth by an archrival, and Banija simply watched from the sidelines as our fierce regional rivals won their sixth ever WLC title, while Banija went on to pick up our record fifth third place finish at this tournament.

The Banijans, particularly in recent years, have been on the brink of glory in this tournament. They have been to the WLC Semifinals for four consecutive tournaments- and despite finishing on the medal podium all four times, they had yet to lift the big one. After that semifinal loss at WLC 37, the Banijans went to WLC 38 with a mission- we will not fall until we reach the sport's highest pinnacle- the WLC Final. And in three successive tournaments, we reached the Final. And in all three tournaments, we faced Sarzonia in the Final. That era of pain relegated us to simply the largest footnote in the story of Sarzonia- a record dominant run by them, 4 straight world titles in this sport. For those last three titles, we lost to them in the Final of each of those tournaments- smoked in WLC 38, lost by only 3 goals in WLC 39, and in WLC 40, on home soil no less, we were dominated once again as the Stars made the case they were the greatest team not only in the world at the time- but the greatest team to ever play the sport.

Gut wrenching pain. Many thought that WLC 40 Final would destroy the soul of Banijan lacrosse. So much hope, and all of that- crushed. So close to the mountaintop- but the final challenge of it seemed simply unassailable. Playing it in front of our own fans seemed to make no difference either. The head coach, Allen Budaye, the coach in all of those WLC Finals, who had reached age 70, called it quits. "I couldn't take those WLC Final losses anymore." He told reporters in his retirement press conference. "Too painful- too brutal." With the XVI Summer Olympiad coming up, however, time stops for no man. There was hope that the Banijans would be able to claim glory at that tournament. And they were.

A big fat asterisk, of course, because the sport was a demonstration event. But still- the Olympics aren't known for their consistency, and yet, here they were. Both Banija's men's and women's teams went to the Olympics, and dominated. Neither lost a game as they both had undefeated runs, celebrating with each other as they each took home victories at the demonstration events. While they weren't Olympic gold medalists- still, both the men and women held world championships, of a sort. They could call themselves something that very few could do- Olympic champions. Might be forever, as well- lacrosse hasn't been played at the Olympiad since.

The NT hired the men's Olympic coach for its unified team, hoping for greater results at WLC 41. And it turned out, yes- the Olympic titles were indeed a foreshadowing of Banija's greatest moment in this sport. WLC 41 saw Banija face down both of their archnemisi in this sport- the Sarzonians(modern), and Abanhfleft(historic). The Banijans shocked many by overcoming both. Sarzonia had eliminated Banija in the late stages from the prior four WLCs, including three finals in a row. The Banijans triumphed in the WLC 41 Quarterfinals, beating them in overtime to end their championship streak at 4. Then, a massive contest against Abanhfleft- where we scored one of our greatest wins in history, to knock them out of a tournament.

First time defeating Sarzonia and Abanhfleft in the same tournament. One last hurdle remained- an undefeated, and top seeded, Delaclava, in the WLC Final. But were simply going to be denied no longer, as we finally excised our demons and won our first ever WLC title. The hunt was over. We are still reigning double Olympic champions- and after WLC 41, we also held the proper title of world champions of lacrosse.

The fear started to rise that this would become a distant memory, however. A semifinal loss at WLC 42, followed by a QF loss at WLC 43, meant that hunger rumbled in the stomachs of Banijan lacrosse players once more. But they came out with much to prove at WLC 44- especially after suffering a shock, opening match upset defeat against Quebec. While they flew out of the gates to earn a win against Sarzonia, they never quite looked at their level in the group stages, they kicked it up a couple of notches in the one & done phase of the tournament- winning 24-5 in the QFs, and then 20-3 in the semifinals, to set up a winner-takes-all final against Baker Park. And in one of the great matches of our age, Banija earned a dramatic overtime win to defeat the World #1s, and earn their second world championship.

Their title defense was actually a fairly strong performance, all things considered- back on home soil(but on the mainland), the Banijans made a run all the way to the final- where they lost to touranment debutants, Harea Odolgarria, in Herzegovina City. Ironically, this marks the second time that the Banijans have lost a WLC Final to tournament debutants- an interesting tidbit. That said, in a new era of lacrosse, where nations ilke Harea Odolgarria and Warkus are rising to become kings of the sport, the Banijans are going to come to the Busoga Islands to try and reassert themselves as the kings of the sport.

Manager

Coach Everett Warner returns for the WLC despite losing control of his selection (or rather, his forward Shawn Lavarre) at times but that he managed to lead a team of amateurs to an impossible medal has been the most important element for the ALAXA, the national lacrosse federation. There is no one who doubts his knowledge of the game and one can be sure that tactically, Warner will present a good plan. But his mouth can get ahead of him and that does not make him the best man manager. For that role, quite a few people look at captain Frederick Neilson who is a calming presence in the dressing room.

Goalkeepers

1. Brady Frost (28, Finbourne Xplorers)
41. Miles Kalacky (23, Earthrich Grenadiers)

On goal, there is a lot of belief in Brady Frost, the hero of the Olympic bronze medal match and a man who is considered the secret sauce of his title winning team. Frost excels in reflexes and speed of execution and is even a decent field player. The only downside to it all is that he’s the silent force of the team and you might want a bit more guidance from a goalie. Back-up Kalacky possesses that bit but does not have the needed nerves of steele when things get really tough.

Defenders

16. Ryan Hartman (31, Bexsted Lightning)
30. Ibrahim Francis (20, Finbourne Xplorers)
93. Leighton Fry (27, Earthrich Grenadiers)
25. Cormac Duddy (28, Rutherfirth Steelers)
44. Simon Vallez (25, Finbourne Xplorers)
62. Raul Simon (21, Macclesville Panthers)

Many fear that this will be the Achilles heel of the line-up, due to the inherent nature of Anewkansan lacrosse (see ‘Style’). The trio to guard the area in front of Frost is composed of players who might not be considered the best in the LAXAL (the domestic league) but rather ones where Warner spotted potential for the position. Central among them is Leighton Fry, a poor passer but someone with great body positioning who should focus on breathing down the neck of the most dangerous opponent. Next to him, there is the more vocal Hartman, who will have a key role due to the lacunas of Frost, and young upstart ‘Ibe’ Francis. The second unit is a bit more physical and could miss the coordination to take on high level opposition.

Midfielders

8. Axton McCann (22, Rutherfirth Steelers)
22. Frederick Neilson (35, Earthrich Grenadiers)
75. Theodore Lawson (26, Finbourne Xplorers)
13. Moises Cano (27, Macclesville Panthers)
37. Georg Flitzer (21, Finbourne Xplorers)
59. Banks Cantrelle (24, Earthrich Grenadiers)

Having a 35-year-old in your midfield seems a strange decision at first, but Neilson is much more than a set of lungs to this team. The captain embodies the Red Gophers with his leadership, tactical insight and capacity to determine the pace of the game. To make up for his summers, Warner paired the team leader with Lawson and McCann. The former has the stick skills and speed to make an impact but especially ‘Axe’ will need to run up and down for sixty minutes straight. If he can keep that up, there is music in the air. Keep an eye out for Flitzer, who’s an ace up the sleeve: some days he’s amazing (but not all days). Cano and Cantrelle are here for the energy and stamina, something the team will welcome.

Attackers

00. Shawn Lavarre (25, Macclesville Panthers)
26. Antoine Gaumont (29, Macclesville Panthers)
82. Cullen Haley (27, Earthrich Grenadiers)
7. Omari Grimes (28, Earthrich Grenadiers)
45. Keith Lim (24, Finbourne Xplorers)
89. Stetson Jones (23, Arentsdorf Eagles)

It’s a bit of a surprise to see Cullen Haley play as his relationship with Lavarre is notoriously cold. But despite being a bit the antihero of the line-up, it would be unfair to dismiss him: he’s got great skills and will be relentless. He is not as physical as Gaumont and Grimes, who are guys who push on and try to fight for that opportunity. Yet who are we kidding, all eyes will be on Shawn Lavarre, the most notorious and tempestuous player on the team. And the best one, to be honest. The goalgetter knows that he is the main man in this (and every) story and can get a bit carried away with it. But at the end of the day, he usually rattles the nets and turns defenses mad with his capacity to sneak into spaces that were not there. Can Lavarre do it also at this stage? That’s the question - the man himself obviously believes he can. When it comes to strokes of genius, the modest Keith Lim might be his closest replacement and last but not least, Warren surprisingly called up Stetson Jones: great stick skills but not really matching the energy of the line-up.

General Style

The Red Gophers all play in the LAXAL, the Lacrosse Anewkansas League, where they compete against one another in a sixes variant of the game. The selection mostly is drawn from the top three teams, the Grenadiers, the Panthers and the Xplorers, who know one another well. In Drawkland, that resulted in a dream but over here, they will have to start over again. It is not that the selection has no experience in the field variant as it is a form often used in pre- or post-season friendly games to offer gametime to all players. But most players are used to playing box-to-box and will have to adapt to their tactical confinement. In a way, most of them are midfielders first. When it comes to stick skills, the Anewkansan side probably ranks low but they make up for it with energy and grit. Or at least, that’s what we hope. The style can be a bit rudimentary and with a strict refereeing crew, this could lead to an above average amount of penalties. Add to that the usual lack of decorum or sportsmanship and the Red Gophers could be an annoying opponent for superior sides. But that high energy might work against them in the tailend of the match as the squad could run out of fresh legs.

Organisational Stuff

If my opponent posts first, they can decide scorers and penalties and give injuries. But if you act silly, I will be silly as well. Same goes for godmodding, you can go crazy if you want but if it’s in poor taste, I might retaliate. Or not. Practically anything goes. But whatever happens, we wear red shirts.

Lacrosse. The Medicine Game of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the people of the Six Nations and beyond.

We play this game knowing full well of its origins and of its importance to the Six Nations and those who hold it in such reverence.
As such, we are proud that both our Head Coach and Captain hail from the Confederacy.

Our aim? To promote the participation of American Indian athletes in TJUN-ian sports, especially for the Confederacy.
So much so, in fact, that at least one Haudenosaunee must start each game we play - by the ruling of Lacrosse TJUN-ia.
This is to recognise the inventors of the sport while also ensuring a continued Native presence within our team.

This era of this game is about to end, with many on this team bowing out once the dust settles.
Still, we will continue in our mission to celebrate the old and encourage the new to play this medicine game.
Let the games begin once again.

Warkus National Lacrosse Team

Style Modifier: -3

Nation: The Unified Kingdoms of Warkus
Demonym: Warkusian(s)
Trigramme: WAR

About the team: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." That's the slogan defining this squad, which is mostly the same as it was last time around when Warkus won the Third Place Final in their first crack at the World Lacrosse Championships. Player-manager Thomas Murphy is now simply a manager and Arwel Robinson has also retired. Nia Davis, who has been leading the Ravens in Harea Odolgarria's WLaxLiga over the last two years, is our national team's captain nowadays.

Lacrosse is not the most popular sport in Warkus, but there is a healthy domestic university league that's been running for a while. There's a bit of a 'nepo baby' phenomenon going on in the sport, as many of the national team players come from longstanding lacrosse-playing families. For example, Vincenzo Bianchi and Alessandro Bianchi are cousins.

The team is relatively defensive in style, as are most of our domestic teams.

Player-Manager: Thomas Murphy, 35 y/o

Thomas Murphy is continuing as manager after his incredible run as a player-manager in the previous WLC. Except this time he's not leading them on the pitch as a player in addition. Time will tell whether that on-pitch leadership was crucial to his success or if being able to focus exclusively on his managerial duties will allow him to unlock even more potential from his team. He did become the nation's most successful ever manager in any sport at the world level in his very first competition, but he's eager to prove that the last competition wasn't just a one off.

Roster:

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL LACROSSE TEAM

Abanhfleft has been taking part in the World Lacrosse Championships so many times that people have actually lost count as to how many times it actually has been, but what is important to note is that Abanhfleft has been crowned champions of world lacrosse six times in their history. And at this point, it’s basically one of the only things keeping lacrosse reasonably popular in the country. Being the sixth most popular sport in Abanhfleft means that it still has more followers than a dozen or so other sports, and the main reason for that is because lacrosse is, invariably, the Democratic Republic’s most successful sport. Six championships, four runners-up, and five third place medals is more than the country’s haul in other major sports combined. For many years, the Samahang Lakros ng Abanhfleft has been seeking lucky title number seven, but the national team has been thwarted at almost every turn for over twenty years now. But perhaps now is the time that their luck finally turns, mostly because an inexplicably awful performance in the previous WLC forced a shake-up in the national team’s coaching structure. This team definitely needs to do something different now, or else they will be living out the definition of insanity yet again.

The history of lacrosse in Abanhfleft is both long and short, in that it has been in the country for a long time, but a concise summary of said history can be written down in just ten to fifteen sentences or maybe more. Lacrosse was introduced in Abanhfleft by vacationing Canadian college students and expatriates who missed playing the game. The first truly Fleftic lacrosse players came from association football and field hockey backgrounds, and these players played in seasonal lacrosse clubs to augment their salaries during their respective sports' offseasons. The first national lacrosse league in Abanhfleft was established in 1929, and was composed of 7 teams coming from the Capital Islands. The Fleftic national lacrosse league system adopted its current franchise format in 2001, with the National League (now called the Lacrosse League of Abanhfleft) separating itself from the pyramid and becoming an independent organization of its own right. The Fleftic Lacrosse Federation (Samahang Lakros ng Abanhfleft or SLA) was established in 1930 to manage the leagues, and to see to the creation of a national team. The Abanhfleft men's national lacrosse team played its first game in 1931, where they lost 1-0 to a team of Montreal college players.

1963 saw the first attempts to introduce women's lacrosse into Abanhfleft. Women's lacrosse had vastly different rules from men's lacrosse, and while these programs saw some success in the mid-sixties, Fleftic women decided that the rules of women's lacrosse were "too soft," and simply adopted the rules of men's lacrosse. When the women's national lacrosse team played its first games in 1969, they surprised many other teams with their extremely aggressive style of play, the likes of which were more usually seen in men's lacrosse games. This led to many incidents of broken legs, broken arms, broken ribs, broken jaws, and so on and so forth. Eventually, the SLA established another women's team, this one focusing on women's lacrosse rules. Teams playing Abanhfleft are well-advised to treat the women like men because the girls will certainly treat their opponents like Fleftic men.

They have won six World Lacrosse Championships, winning in WLC 22, 23, 25, 32, 35 and 36. Starting in WLC 26, the team entered a rebuilding stage in which it maintained its ranking in the multiverse as much as possible without really challenging for the title. But in WLC 30, the SLA declared the rebuilding done, and the national team backed up this announcement with a deep playoff run that went all the way to the final, where they were unfortunately stopped by Wrexwic. Abanhfleft fell in the Round of 12 against hosts Baker Park in WLC 31, but the Amazons would come out on top of the lacrosse world once again after winning the championship on their home soil in WLC 32. Fortunes have been up and down in more recent times though; while the team crashed out of the quarterfinals in WLC 33, they were able to collect a third place finish in WLC 34. The team plowed through the tough schedule created by the Casaran format in WLC 35, proving the adage that "you can only beat the teams in front of you" true. One of those teams would be Vangaziland, a fellow serial winner in the competition, and in a final sure to go down as a classic, Abanhfleft emerged as 9-6 winners to lift their record-equaling fifth title. In WLC 36, the objective was to break the record and snatch it from Sarzonia, who were also planning to do the same. The Amazons defeated the Stars in the quarterfinals of WLC 36, and the team beat such giants as Banija and Cassadaigua to lift the World Lacrosse Championship for the sixth time. Now, the mission is simple: sget lucky title number seven at any cost.

Additional information
Nickname: The Amazons
Colors: All white with blue, orange, and green stripes on the waistline and yellow numbers in a red circle (home kit); all red with yellow letters and numbers (away kit)
Style: Abanhfleft is an attacking team. The legacy of football and hockey players dabbling in lacrosse in its early days in Abanhfleft has resulted in a playing style that emphasizes getting the ball up front for chances to score. This, however, leaves the defense a bit thin, as at least two midfielders join the attackers in forays up to the goal, leaving behind only the defenders and the keeper. The midfield makes up for this by rushing back to their positions as soon as the opponents have acquired the ball.

Previously controlled by the Universities Athletics Coalition, the sport is now governed by the Baker Park Lacrosse Association (BPLA). Dawn Thornton, the BPLA Chairwoman is currently serving her second term as President of the World Lacrosse Council.
Baker Park first entered a team in the 29th World Lacrosse Championship, co-hosted in Razenthuria & Banija; the all-female squad made up of college-aged players advanced from pool play to the knockout round.
The nation has hosted the 31st, 37th, and 42nd editions of the WLC, as well as the 2nd Atlantian Oceania Lacrosse Classic, prior to WLC 34.
While the sport in BP was traditionally a female pursuit, males participated in intramural or recreational level competition; with the expansion of game into official intercollegiate recognition, the National Team have adopted an all gender policy which has seen expansion of the player pool.

All Time Record--131 wins, 53 losses (109-39 in WLC)
Nickname--a recent revival has brought the identification of many of the nation's sporting teams as "Elks" back into modern usage; the Elk (Wapiti) is the national animal of the Commonwealth.
Style Modifier--+1.85

The Commonwealth of Baker Park National Lacrosse Team parlayed the competitions stingiest defense to a record tying fifth consecutive semi-final appearance in WLC 45 in Banija, but were unable to overcome a Harea Odolgarria side making their debut in the event, dropping an 11-10 overtime thriller to the eventual surprise winners, a disappointment that the Elks were unable to shake off in the 3rd Place match against another first time participant Warkus, leaving the BPNT with a sour taste in its mouth after entering the tournament as the top ranked nation.

Megan Ostrander returns for her second stint as Head Coach determined to build upon the foundation established in the previous edition, bringing an unchanged roster into this championship. The Elks remain one of the marquee names in the sport and will rely on their solid tried and tested system in hopes of making a record sixth straight appearance in the last four

Oceana—Selvey Commons (12,000)
Selvey Commons is the something close to the spiritual home of lacrosse in Baker Park; the University of Oceana's athletic teams call it home and the school has won more UAC titles in the sport (14) than any other university. Hosted matches in all three editions of the tournament that have been held in the Commonwealth.

Hannover—Fritz Schafer Stadium (14,000)
The east-central region of the Commonwealth is one of the hotbeds of the sport and The 'Fritz' was a no-brainer choice as WLC matches in the three hosted editions here were usually one of the toughest tickets to get.

RP Persimmons
Yes to all

This team is a rag-tag bunch of various dragon-worshipping zealots from a tiny volcanic archipelago in a vast ocean somewhere sort-of close to Esportiva, but not part of it.

They spend most of their days in abject servitude to a petulant, choleric, and practically omniscient dragon, and then spend the tiny amount of free time awarded to them inciting minor religious wars with each other over how best to serve their all-powerful master. In fairness, this is mostly the Pepeian (Ordo Qyzzyxzy Pepeii) and Pavlian (Ordo Draconicus Pavli) sects and it mostly boils down to the arguments surrounding who should be the official Pope.

There is a third sect; the Nihilists, but given their bleak outlook on their dragon-praising existence, they're far too depressing to talk to for very long and thus are left to do their own thing on the proviso that it doesn't involve communicating with anyone outside their sect. This arrangement seems to work for all parties.

Anyway, lacrosse, and how it fits into this crazy little place.

In truth, it doesn't.

A team was ordered to attend the last incarnation of the tournament on the misguided belief that lacrosse is a stupid sport that no-one in their right mind would specialise in and as such, a squad from this minute isolated nation could stroll up and dominate the whole thing in the Most Awesome and Glorious Name of Qyzzyxzy. Then we could impress our beliefs upon the simple-minded lacrosse-playing nations of the multiverse and before you could execute a blasphemer of seven, the nation has a whole bunch of new peons to order about.

This was not what happened. Not by a long shot. The team made their exit in the group stage with a mere three wins from ten matches.

Now they're back, with the same plan mind, but hopefully a little more knowledge of the rules of lacrosse this time.

Although this time, that'll probably be balanced out with all the in-fighting ...

The New Era: Looking Towards the 45th Edition of the World Lacrosse Championships
by Miranda Brewer

“I guess I can’t say ‘don’t expect too much’ this time, can I?” said Warkusian national team manager Thomas Murphy in the lead up to the 45th edition of the World Lacrosse Championships (WLC), referencing what he told GDW before the previous tournament. The WLC is entering what many pundits are calling a new era after the emergence of the previously unranked champions Harea Odolgarria and third-place final winners Warkus. The ‘Big Three’ of Banija, Baker Park and Sarzonia have been disrupted by those two nations, although they’re still the top three sides in the WLC rankings.
Some teams have shaken things up quite a bit while others have kept their squads more or less the same. Baker Park, TJUN-ia and Warkus are among the top ranked sides who’ve decided to persist with their existing lineups. The world number ones over in Banija have gone for a more revamped squad, introducing a total of eight new players while elevating some bench players from the last tournament onto their starting lineup. Abanhfleft have done a complete overhaul of their backroom staff in an effort to bring some fresh ideas into a historically strong team that had a disappointing run in the last tournament.

While Harea Odolgarria and Warkus are bringing the fight to the traditionally top-tier nations, we can also expect some of the unranked sides to impress as well. Nations like Tumbra, Free Republics and Anewkansas – who all have established track records of being quite good at sports in general – have arrived and will be doing their best to make sure everyone recognises their abilities.

Harea Odolgarria will be hoping to defend their title and prove their win wasn’t simply a one-off. Banija and Baker Park are going to fight like hell to maintain their positions at the top of the food chain and beat back the upstarts. Warkus will be trying to trade in their bronze for gold. The Sarzonians will want to ensure they’re recognised once more as the kings of lacrosse and not ‘the third team in the Big Three’. Abanhfleft will want to right past wrongs too as they try to find their footing once more. Everyone seems hungry for glory. We’ll just have to see who actually has the ability to take home the winner’s trophy.

These are my predictions for this WLC –

WLC Champions: Banija

“Anyone who bets on Banija is a fool, and anyone who bets against Banija is also a fool.” The Banijans have had their hearts broken plenty of times now. The Banijans have also won three world titles, the most recent of which was two tournaments ago. They fell short at the final hurdle last time around, but if anything, that shows how hungry they’ll be to grasp that championship. The personnel changes they’ve made with their new manager (former assistant manager) Birta Tiyana and the calculated adjustments to their roster show that they’re willing to change just enough to keep their team fresh without throwing away what’s made them so great over the past few tournaments. The reason why their losses are so devastating is precisely because they’re the favourites (or there about) and they know it.

Rookie Team of the Year: Anewkansas

The Anewkansans are developing a bit of a habit for making impressive debuts on the world stage. First, they did it with football – winning the Di Bradini Cup and the Cup of Harmony at the first time of asking. Then it was basketball, where they made it to the IBC’s round of 16. Their players don’t have much experience playing field lacrosse and they’re more of an indoor lacrosse side, but the Anewkansan System always seems to find a way to produce a well-drilled, disciplinarily undisciplined sports team. They’re in a difficult group, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them picking up some wins against the ranked sides.

Disappointing Powerhouse (Worst Top Ten Side): Abanhfleft

Abanhfleft is coming off the back of a disappointing WLC 45 campaign and, to be frank, I wouldn’t be surprised if they continue to disappoint. They’ve replaced their coaching staff, sure, but those changes might just end up exposing more systemic problems with their team. I really get the sense that this campaign is a ‘make or break’ thing for them. Could they impress, even go so far as to surprise everyone and win it all? Sure. I just don’t think they will.

Best Goaltender: Hope Ssematu (Banija)

It’ll be Ssematu’s third tournament as starting goaltender. She’s great, she’s experienced, she’s in her peak years as a player and she’s got an excellent defence in front of her. Baker Park’s Missy Ribero is the obvious alternative pick, as you would typically expect with most of these choices.

Best Defender: Sana Sanneh (Banija)

Another player currently in her peak. She’s the Banijan captain and very much the leader of her team’s defence. It’s not so much that I think she’ll be the best defender so much as I think she’ll be the best player, period.

Best Midfielder: Wally Foster (Baker Park)

Foster is a player that always seems to be where you need him to be. He’s not an unsung hero, really. Everyone knows he’s great. While many of the other sides rely on their defenders to defend, Baker Park seems to derive their defensive stability from their team as a unified whole. But Foster is a huge part of that.

Faceoff Champion: Jak Rupert (Warkus)

Rupert is an important transition player in the Warkusian setup. He’s one of the few remaining faceoff specialists in today’s game, although the Sarzonians are also known for employing them.

Best Attacker: Shonwahnonkon Sundown (TJUN-ia)

Maybe I have a bit of a bias for captains, but Sundown’s another player who leads because he’s good. He doesn’t command respect by being good at reading the game (although he does that) or shouting or by sucking up to his manager, no. He just scores goals. Lots and lots of goals. Simple as.

Best Young Player (Under 23): Vincenzo Bianchi (Warkus)

Vincenzo Bianchi was easily the standout young player in the last WLC and I don’t see things going much different this time either. He’ll probably be even better now. He’s a great example of how a pacey youngster can be a great defender with his hit-and-run tactics. Now that he’s an adult, he’s both more physically imposing and faster than ever before.

Hidden Gem: Shawn Lavarre (Anewkansas)
He’s a maverick, but geniuses have always been misunderstood. He has that special ability to dismantle his opponent’s defence and find the back of the net.

MVP: Sana Sanneh (Banija)

See my entry for ‘Best Defender’.

Three basic questions ahead of the WLC

Why on earth is our team in this?

As is the answer to anything: money. But to give a more nuanced answer: growth potential (for money, eventually). The ALAXA, the national lacrosse federation, saw the doors being opened and the buzz created by the World Cup and the IBC, and realized what miracles even modest international success could do for their sport. At the moment, the big boss of team sports in Anewkansas is football and it is unlikely that this is going to change anytime soon. But underneath that giant tree, there is still a bit of space for growth for other competitors. Based on the previous decade, one would say that basketball, volleyball or even baseball could move into that space. Lax never held a firm place in the pecking order, but they still were sliding down the ranks, haunted by its reputation of a ‘first generation’ sport that did not get picked up by newcomers. To the credit of those in charge of ALAXA, they spotted the impending doom and opted for renewal. Lobbying themselves to the Olympics, a drastic geographical expansion of the league, … Everything is done to keep lacrosse on the frontpages, as is a subscription to this tournament. With that, they hope to catch the eye of a new generation.

Will the guys make a fool of themselves?

Maybe, but probably not. The native variant of lacrosse is the sixes format, not the field one and many see this as a potential pitfall. But that element has been broadly advertised to calm down the anticipation from those who hope to repeat the Olympic bronze. And in itself, the format switch is not such a drastic issue as stamina gets emphasised and the modest stick skills of our side might be less impactful, fitting the team profile. It might cost the selection against (tactically) more experienced sides but half our qualification group consists of fellow debutants. Compared to those teams, the Red Gophers have the advantage of an Olympic success experience. With nine of the bronze medallists on the squad, the selection is one step ahead when it comes to forging a true team. Next to that, Anewkansas cannot complain about the agenda. Having the hardest match, a trip to Degananwidah Cultural Stadium, immediately out of the way is no disadvantage. The next match, in which the Red Gophers host Devonta in Finbourne, could set the tone for the rest of the campaign. If Warner’s men can beat a direct opponent for the top three there, the train could be rolling early on. Because there is individual talent on the squad: players such as Neilson, Lawson and especially Lavarre can make an impact. The latter understands the fine art to shine on the big moments and the opening home game could be exactly that kind of occasion for the always ambitious Lavarre.

Why does everyone hail from the same small part of the nation?

Apart from Bexsted Lightning defender Ryan Hartman, all players on the squad live in the industrial cluster of cities on the western bank of the Moglade river. And even then, some would successfully debate that Bexsted is the eastern border of that same socio-economical heartland of Anewkansas, sometimes called the Factory Diamond. That is no coincidence and aligns with the way lacrosse not just entered the country but also its cultural position. The fairly flat and fertile region east of capital Bridgehead and north of main port Oakling was the first to be colonized by what would become the Anewkansan pioneers. With them, they brought their sports such as lacrosse. Those ‘originals’ remain an important factor in both the demographic and cultural face of the region. The later working class immigrants post independence, the so-called second-wavers, had a more diverse background and little affinity with the sport. They spread beyond the Diamond and while they thrived in football or basketball, lacrosse remained a niche product, associated with the old (and wealthy) generations. As a consequence, it holds a more elite reputation, which also keeps a firm distance from the most recent additions to the Anewkansan population, the ‘permitted’. One of the things ALAXA hopes is to get interest from those social groups but the selection alone tells a different story. The team is not just geographically uniform but also socioeconomically. All but three are ‘originals’ even if those only consist of 45% of the population (and even less in the 20-30 age category). A majority completed higher studies. Having a ‘frat boy’ such as Shawn Lavarre or a member of a known company owning family such as Frederick Neilson as the team faces also does not add to the diversification aimed for by the federation. But the truth is that if they wanted to select the best, the Factory Diamond and its upper class are still the fertile grounds for the sport. Those players will have to stand up to inspire the rest of the nation.

A new generation of Kytlerian lacrosse talent are trying and presumably failing to resurrect the reputation of what was once the national sport. A very, very long time ago.

It's long since dissolved into being a messily-run sport of privilege, hence the Oops! All White Dudes squad with three pairs of brothers and four double-barrelled surnames that... didn't totally suck at WLC45? So all but three of them are back again, with two of the new additions being Vephra as the team tentatively becomes very vaguely representative...

Blissful Hearts: Goddess Am I

"...Child. Approach."

It was the middle of a church in Bannekar, though it was one that was made to be empty to have a head priest with a particular young woman. The head priest was one that was a leading member of the Holy Party and a remnant of the original theocratic government. No deconstruction of the holy ideals shall remove them, even if they are being considered removed from the state.

"This was a decision that didn't require your reach. You may think that this is a form of punishment, but we have ensured that you will not fall into the reaches of the bottom-feeders that pollute our nation. Do not be consumed by the power that you are being given. This is a sacred deal that we have made with the Swine Party. To ensure that we have some reach into the new monarchy, you will be assigned to be the princess of Libegeist. Temptation is a dangerous thing, my child. You are well aware that we have given you the perks of become a goddess yourself, but you shall know when you have fallen into sin."

The head priest had this to say.

"Don't disappoint us."

Laura didn't know what to say, before the proceedings would occur today. She wore up in her pajamas on her bed, just as the workers from the town left for the morning. She gave out a yawn, stretching her arms. This was supposed to be her new life, she guessed.

Laura Papadakis, the Princess of Libegeist. Not a lot of people knew of her new role, but she was expected to meet with her religious advisor from the church and even the King himself to be coronated into the monarchy. Was she scared? Nervous? Maybe being nervous was the right option.

She was someone that in custody in the church, since its inception. She was currently 23 years old, though it looked like her beauty would still last forever. She did admit that she wondered if the church also made her look like a goddess on purpose. Not to be sacrificed, but to be worshipped. She was 5'9, to which as a genetic modification that was added to her DNA, she had long hair that was the color of green. It was possible to arrange for a child born in a bottle to have different colored hair that was in an unusual color that was grown naturally, though Laura always liked the color of her green hair, since it matched her eyes.

She didn't like to say it out loud, since she was trying to act casual for the puritanical side of the church, but she did like how curvy her body was. It was also likely that this was also engineered by the church, though she did have a large bust with wide hips and gorgeous legs. She did ask on if this was normal for her, since she didn't want anyone to envy her for what she appeared as. Her priest did say that she cannot fall into the same path as Jezebel.

She was not the only one that ended up like this. Her religious advisor Rosemary Serrano looked like an older version of her. She has mentioned before that she served as an archbishop to preserve those that fit the boundaries by the church. She claimed to have gotten rid of the unearthly vices that most would be subjected to.

Still, Laura didn't imagine living in a small manor that was supposed to resemble a castle. She had servants, she had her own bedroom, though it messed with her that she was told that she technically has two homes. She had another house in the form of a penthouse back at Crockett branch of public housing within the farmlands. However, she had her own "training" housing at the idle town of Lowry. It was close to the coast, so she got to experience an ocean breeze that would pass through. Still, almost like Crockett, there was a divide in classes. How would those that were seen below her react to her above them all? She didn't ask to be put on a pedestal, but this was what fate has given her.

There was a knock at her door.

"Madam princess, you are requested to be at the tailor before your breakfast." a servant told her, but she corrected them. "Please don't call me madam. I prefer miss."
"Miss, you are requested."

Wearing a dress wasn't on her bucket list, but she was tasked with wearing something regal. A white dress with flowing fabric and lace. Makeup to include shine and sparkle. A golden tiara on her head. Given an anklet, bangle, earrings, necklace, ring, and some rich oils and perfumes to make her into a being that Midas would want.

She did wish that the dress wasn't so quick, when she was eating breakfast, but when they sent her over to the grand cathedral at Banneker, she tried to be on her best behavior. She just wished it wasn't all rainy over at Banneker.

Laura entered the grand cathedral, decorated with the hallmarks of the theocratic party. Crosses and symbols of the sun. Stained glass for a communion. Holy territory for the Holy Party. This could be a bit awkward.

"Princess Papadakis." Rosemary was there to greet her. "I hope that you can be able to do your duties within the church. This is an important day for coronation." Rosemary could tell that Laura was nervous. She stood by her side, as she went down the aisles. It was mostly empty, though up at the altar and the pulpit, she can see the camera crew that was set up and the multiple security guards, ranging from knights from Sierra to even the "crusaders" from the Holy Party.

"Will this be quick? I don't think I will be good with these guys looking at me." Laura said to Rosemary.
"This is a grand day for us. Don't consider it a victory, since you will be under the eyes of not just the Holy Party, but by Kruger and the new monarchy. You are going to be sworn in as a princess. You are meant to bridge the gap between the divide, Papadakis." Rosemary explained to her. Laura didn't know why Rosemary couldn't be sworn in as the princess, but given that Rosemary was middle-aged, she was too old to apply.

Rosemary did look good for her age, but Laura knew to not ask for that detail. Laura didn't like to be treated like she was old either, even though she clearly was youthful. "The King isn't a creep, right?"
"Not that I know of, but he isn't being popular at the moment. Just don't mention that to him." Rosemary reminded her.

Laura got on the stage, waiting a bit for the King to arrive, though it wasn't until a certain figure within the Holy Party has appeared. Rosemary immediately looked concerned to see him, but he seemed to be docile, despite the sword that was in his scabbard or the LED visor mask he wore.

"Madam Princess. You have arrived in time. I take it that you will respect the qualities of being a princess."
"Uhhh, I refer to be called Miss-"
"Don't patronize me, girl." Zachariah immediately said to her.

Zachariah Mathers.

Like other officials in the nation, he had his own reputation and infamy.

He was considered to be a major enforcer for the theocratic government and was a crusader against what the government saw to be of sin. Despite this, there were still rumors of corruption from him. He was involved with the civil war in dealing with the "heretics", though no one knew how involved he was in combat.

He was dressed in armor that was suited for a knight, though it was a mixture of white, gold, and black colors. He was on the pot-bellied side, though it was hard to distinguish between fat and muscle. He wore a helmet with a LED visor that gave his brown eyes with dark bags underneath a golden glow. Beyond his fair skin, he had stubble on his chin, along with having slightly messy short cedar-brown hair underneath his helmet.

"The time for coronation requires acknowledgement of importance. As long as none of those parasites try to take advantage of you, then we can fulfill our end of the bargain." Zachariah said, as Rosemary stepped in to talk to him.
"Divine Prosecutor," Rosemary made sure to address him by his rank, "please understand that the princess is still inexperienced. She just needs some time to know the inner workings. She is loyal to the church."
"We need more for the church. We are in dire straits and we need someone who can know the rights and wrongs in this country. What we need is someone to come down from the heavens to be the true jury."

Rosemary gave Laura some space from him, before she whispered something to her. "Don't accidently anger him."

20 minutes later, the TV crew was getting ready to roll for broadcast and the security was in full detail. Several other VIP guests were allowed to sit up close in the rows of church benches. Laura was sure that some of the people could be politicians or celebrities.
Laura can hear Zachariah using an earpiece to communicate with someone from outside of the church.
"Any visual on the two people to watch for?"
"..."
"Good. We cannot allow that snake into the building. Send him back to whatever brothel he came from."
"..."
"The Leader could have still been able to leave Fairfax without suspicion. Don't expect the least from a wanted ex-dictator. Keep your guards up."

Laura stayed on the stage, until the main doors opened. Everyone immediately stood up to acknowledge the importance of King Robert Kruger. Rather than the usual business suit he wore, he was wearing something more elegant. A red royal robe with an electronic crown to wear. He had a specter to hold, to which his assistant and chief representative of the Swine Party, William Bowron, followed close by.

King Kruger walked down pass the pews, strolling onto the stage after climbing the steps. Now, Laura was getting nervous.

"We are here to honor a representation of our necessary order. A system that we hope shall show its signs in improving the nation from disarray and unhealthy rule. For we believe that there are those that are still young to grasp the way that the multiverse works, that they are capable of running the country. Whenever someone like me would fall, there shall be someone there for the public to turn to. I take it that you are committed to that responsibility, Princess?" King Kruger was making the speech, though he addressed Laura.
"Y-yes! Of course. For the nation and its people." she kept it there. Her eyes darted to Zachariah nearby and Rosemary. The lack of a sudden reaction made her believe that she saw what needed to be said. Nothing more.

"Good."

King Kruger held out his hands for some fellow knights to grant him the coronation sword. Laura kneeled for him, though an annoyed scowl from Zachariah to Kruger had to be hidden from his view. Kruger raised the sword in the air, slowly tapping it on Laura's shoulders. Probably more of a ceremonial sword than a real sword, though Laura was starting to get a grip.

"Now. Rise, Princess." Kruger ordered her.

Laura slowly got up from her knees, taking a bow towards the King.

With grace, the King felt her respect.

It was done.

Out of the limelight, Zachariah could only look on, his arms crossed, still in the midst of judging the scene before him.

Transcription of some game side audio from the Qyzzyxzyan Draconic Territories vs TJUN-ia match.

  • This exchange betwixt Papa Pavl I and Papa Pepe II occurred approximately 8 minutes into the second quarter with the score at QDT 0-4 TJU.

"Defend! Deny these foul heathens the chance to further bolster their advantage!"

"No! Attack! Push forward that we might score for the glory of the Dragonlord!"

"Ignore the insolent cur! We must hold steady! Defend!"

"My people, close thine ears to these odious words of this ridiculous pretender to the Papal throne! Advance! To glory!"

"A pretender?! Thou art naught but wretched excretions from the anus of a diseased worm! Defend, I say! Well tackled Brother Peter, now pass forth the ball, post-haste!"

"Pass not! To do so would be folly. First advance thyself that an opponent may be committed and thus a breach be found in their defences!"

"Disregard this bombastic lunacy! Pass! Rapid movement of the ball is how we succeed!"

"Nay! Advance Brother, that we may breach the blasphemous TJUN defenses in a manner most akin to how that false Pope's mother doth be gladly breached every morn, noonday, and eventide by uncountable swathes of unwashed and pox-ridden peons."

"Such an ignominy is only known to thee, thou vile counterfeit! Well-written it is in the annals of thine proclivities for offering lewd and degrading pleasures of the flesh to all and sundry who ask it of thee!"

"Disgraceful slander from lips that have ne'er tasted of a truthful word! Brother, advance!"

"Nay! Pass, that we might relive the victory we did lay upon the Godless Paeninsulae Kytlerenses!"

"A victory that owed but little thanks to thee, thou gangrenous corpse of a man! Adva... No, do not lose possession there!"

"Were good Brother Peter not thus stupefied by thine visage of true repugnance, mayhaps we ..."

*whistle blows*

"Five to nought now! Upon thine head rests the fault for such actions, thou vessel of pestilence!"

"Thou bulbous wart 'pon the testicle of a hound!"

etcetera, ad infinitum

Olympic Committee of Banija Exec Chair, Patrick Zervos, sitting in a suite in Banija's second game of the tournament

Patrick Zervos was sitting there, having an OK time, at best. The Banijans had lost their much anticipated opener to Warkus, getting dominated on the road by a score of 15-5. The type of scoreline that, frankly, the Banijans hadn't faced in this sport in a while. The home opener here against Libegeist had been going fairly well- they were up 4-0 at the end of the first quarter, and seemed as if they would cruise through this game, restoring some semblance of order. Zervos, of course, didn't really get involved into the day-to-day of Banijan lacrosse- he had an Executive Vice President of the Lacrosse Division to do that. But he was hoping that the Banijans could, in fact, get back to the summit of the game- it was an era where many more teams were competitive than they had been, especially towards the end of the 30s where Sarzonia was basically winning every single tournament.

"This team- we've got a strong team here. I think we're capable of getting back to the final." He told his wife.

"Well, we gotta get out of this group first. Warkus whupped us. Was it on the road? Yes- but that was concerning."

"Our national team is not known for getting off to strong starts at these tournaments." He told her, and she simply nodded back. He was right- they lost the opener at WLC 44, and despite beating Sarzonia pretty good on MD2 of that group stage, they largely struggled throughout the group stages in the Banijan Esportivan Territories- not really hitting their stride until the knockout stages of the tournament rolled around. "Warkus is a challenging team- I mean, they beat us in group play on the road last year as well. But that's because they're an elite team- not because of any flaws of our team. We've got a lot to do, but there is no reason to despair after an opening day loss. Our path is still in front of us- although, with that 10 goal margin, winning the group is a much more difficult task than previously anticipated."

His wife nodded. "This team has strong foundations. Olympic success- while it was sixes, gold medals in both the men's and women's versions of the game at the XIX Summer Olympiad certainly have given confidence to our squad here. And remember, Tiyana is in her first tournament in charge, as the team's head coach. She's gonna have some growing pains- her first ever game in charge, against Warkus, on the road? It was always going to be an uphill climb. The know-how is in the team- we just gotta take advantage of it."

Banijans split opening pair of games to kick off the World Lacrosse Championships

HERZEGOVINA CITY, MORAVICA- New manager, new growing pains- and ultimately, a split in the opening two games of the World Lacrosse Championships. Once again, close by, as the knockout stages will be held next door, on the Busoga Islands- so a tournament where there's plenty of pressure for the Banijans to succeed. Some things change, some stay the same- as Owole Kalili, their manager for the last 5 cycles, has retired. "He is, without a doubt, the greatest HC this team has ever seen- and not just because he is the only one to win the WLC." Said a TV commentator. "He's got an Olympic championship, a BLL title, two WLC titles- he's won the lot. While his final match is losing a final on home soil, you can't always have a Hollywood ending- and being now 71 years old, he felt that it was time for him to move on."

He, of course, recommended former player, Birta Tiyana, to be the team's manager. She, of course, has been an assistant for the last few cycles- and was a core member of the Banijan teams who lost three WLC Finals in a row. "It is an honor, after playing for this squad, to then be hired as the team's head coach." She told reporters. "We are going into a new era of international lacrosse- one where there are no dominant national teams. We've got a big grouping of elite teams that are capable of winning the tournament, and then other teams that are quickly rising up the ranks. An unranked team won the whole damn thing last time out, and we were on the wrong side of that. There is not much we have to adjust- but we are going to make the adjustments necessary to keep up with the changes that we're seeing in the game."

Her first competitive game, of course, was matchday 1 of the World Lacrosse Championships- and a trip to Warkus. That was always going to be a challenge, no matter what- and it was shown, as the Banijans, frankly, got ran off the field. She spoke after the game about how it was a 'learning experience', and how it could serve as a wakeup call for most of the team. The Banijans responded well, earning a dominant 12-2 win over Libegeist in their home opener, right here in Herzegovina City. "It was a good response to a struggle of a contest- although, there's still a long way to go in the tournament." She told reporters. "Ultiimately, we will be judged on what happens once we reach the Busoga Islands- but we have to get there first, and we are now back on track."

The group is tight so far- with four 1-1 teams after two games, with just Tumbra sitting at 0-2, and Warkus sitting, all alone, at the top of the table at 2-0. The Banijans will look to build some seperation, with their next game being a road game in Andso Mangis, followed by hosting Tumbra. They will be big favorites in both contests- winning both will be critical to a unique position that they have, now that the Banijans are behind, chasing warkus for the top spot in Group A.

Little War Logs: The Battles of Rediscovery

Postby TJUN-ia » Wed Feb 25, 2026 12:05 pm

The medicine game calls to us one more time...but for some, this will be the last Little War. The Little War Jaguars are on the edge of this era of our sport coming to a close, with our starting 10 all getting on in age and contemplating retirement and whatever lies beyond lacrosse as a lifestyle. But while that hangs above this team, Ty Halftown was still the man in charge and he still hoped for a deep run for this collection of players before the sun set over the forest of their careers. So that is the mission of this Little War - to send them off, one final time, on a high.

Game 1 of this 46th WLC would see Everett Warner and Anewkansas come to Deganawidah and the HTWT for the season opener. No one quite knew what to expect from this encounter with the debuting Red Gophers, but the Battle we ended up with was actually a tighter one than many might've expected. These Gophers certainly knew how to play this game, and Antoine Gaumont's 3 goals were certainly pivotal in this tight affair as we could only manage 4 in a 6-4 defeat on home soil. Nadin Qaraqra and Douglas Higgins got two each.

The first road game of the campaign would be up against the Qyzzyxzyan Draconic Territories, a team split between those who follow the Ordo Draconicus Pavli (under Sanctus Papa Pavl I, who's also the reserve Goaltender) and the Ordo Qyzzyxzy Pepeii (under Pius Papa Pepe II, a starting Attacker). Considering the active schism within this team and the fact that the Council of Nicaea can't even save everyone's souls at this point, maybe us winning this game 12-5 wasn't exactly a surprise. The fact that they even came together to score 5 goals was at least something, but when Shonwahnonkon Sundown, Ueno and Qaraqra are combining for 10 goals between them, that certainly sounds like a good day. Rachael Kwas got the other two, if you were wondering.

Good start!
MARCH ON, LITTLE WAR JAGS!
