Suggestion: Completion Indicator for Card Collections

Postby Avalon » Mon Jan 20, 2025 3:59 am

Hi,

I'm starting a few card collections and checking out others as well. I thought it would be nice to have a way to indicate which of my collections I consider 100% complete and to see the same for others.

I know I could simply add "(Complete)" to the collection name or something similar, but I think it would be a neat addition to have a visual indicator—perhaps a green checkmark for completed collections and maybe another icon for incomplete ones. Just a thought!

What do you all think?

You can use special unicode characters in collection names.
i tried with one of mine: https://www.nationstates.net/page=deck/collection=29570
copy the next line to make a green checkmark:
&#x2705

More symbols.

I like the idea in theory, however in practice it would be impossible due to the amount of code needed to track the number of cards in a region or number of cards of a given rarity. The idea given by Riemstagrad is your best bet for something like that.

You are a few steps too far ahead, why not just a button on the collection edit page you can click to denote a collection to be complete
This completeness could then be shown in a visual way on any page where the collection is shown.

... and prevent those cards from getting sold/gifted/junked... now that would be quite something!

That combined with protecting cards from being sold/junked would honestly be incredibly useful. Maybe even combine it with a marker on a card that's only visible to you so you know that it's part of a collection.

I like this idea, but that would mean a redesign how collections work. Right now it's not even tied to the actual cards on a deck.

I'm just asking for an extra button next to "save changes" that says "mark as complete" and adds some satisfying icon to it, something that is common to all "complete" collections on NS.

The ones deciding if the collection is complete would be us, the creators, and we can undo "mark as complete" at any time too.

... as I said, I know we can add something to the title, the unicode symbol idea is good, but not site-wide, not standard, not immediately recognised. And not so satisfying.
