Overview
Signups for this tournament are now closed.
The South Newlandian Classical Chess Cup is a chess competition in Newport, South Newlandia. It will be contested by individual players in a classical time control (60 minutes per player).
Format
There will be 4 total scorination days. The tournament will begin with a round-robin group stage, from which the group winners will advance to a double-round-robin final stage. All cutoffs will take place on consecutive Sundays.
You may sign up a maximum of three players, which will compete individually. You are allowed to sign up a secondary nation, provided you declare its status with both nations, and do not exceed three total players.
Please state the names of all of your participants clearly in your signup, and ideally also include a trigram to identify your players.
Roleplay
Chess knowledge is not required to participate in this competition. You are free to roleplay about whatever you want, and do not have to mention the results at all.
Timing
I am planning to close signups no later than December 29th, with the first cutoff on January 5th.
Why?
I want to experiment with more chess on NationStates. This is very much a trial run for that; if this tournament proves there is sufficient interest, I am planning to create a larger NSS chess circuit that will result in a faux-Candidates and faux-World Champion match.
Feel free to ask any questions about stuff I may have forgotten!
