We control eight oblasts, and are found on a continent bearing the same name as our country.

What was your original inspiration for Scandoslavia? Unless it's just as simple as the USSR/Russian Empire but with Nordic countries (landmass wise)

I've never even seen the Cowboys emblem until you pointed it out. I suppose the League of Nations flag makes you feel that way too?

As for the question, the idea actually came from a few things. My first iteration came from a failed attempt to forcibly mash together Finnish and Russian linguistics. When that didn't go well, I decided that weird language would need a name. Borrowing the Scandinavian 'Scandi' and changing the final letter to 'o', I then joined it with the 'Slavic' suffix. I ended up with Scandoslavic, which sounded like a neat name. That evolved into a country name, Scandoslavia. At first I theorized it at a pidgin in Karelia, but then I went off the rails and drew up my own custom map. The original map contained five countries, and lacked almost every continent on my current world map. Over the course of making the nation, I've tried to keep a balance of the Finno-Russian idea that developed into the nation itself. Now I'm focusing on adding aspects of the other Nordic nations, as well as Estonia. Somewhere along the line I got to disliking the idea of being a monarchy, and decided that I would keep this account since "Empire" can sometimes denote a strictly land-based meaning and not a political one. I decided that through a Civil War similar to the Soviet one, I would turn my nation into a rather lax, semi-Socialist USSR analogue. I leaned heavily into the history of the nation from there, making up several unique government types and economic systems. And I haven't stopped there, either. I'm still making factbooks.

Why did you even want to make a country? I mean, it's not every day you see people creating entirely new nations.

I'm a political nerd. I might as well make a mildly triggering, KGB-ridden, hypermilitarized pseudo-Soviet state. Plus, I just sort of started making it - and then kept adding to it. So much so that I went from low-quality drawings of military equipment to being a frequent Shipbucket vehicle and weapons creator.
